Election Watch

This app lets you get the latest polls-based statistical prediction of who will win the United States Presidential election straight from Nate Silver's fivethirtyeight.com!
NOTE: Election has passed, this app now shows only the FINAL PROJECTION that was provided by fivethirtyeight.com before the election occurred. Check elsewhere for election results.

PLEASE NOTE: The numbers reported in this app are the predicted likelihood of winning. While that likelihood is based on poll data, the numbers you see are NOT poll results. Even a small difference in polls can result in large advantage for a candidate
- that's why pundits obsess over a difference of only a few percentage points in the polls
- they indicate a strong likelihood that the candidate will win.

This is the free version which contains ads. Purchase the PRO version for an ad-free experience.

Nate Silver's prediction method is based on polling data from sources all around the nation as well as weighting factors such as the current state the economy and other factors that have been known to correlate with election outcomes in the past. He gained notoriety after calling the outcome in 49 out 50 states in the 2008 election, and 50 out of 50 states in the 2012 election. See if he does it again this time around!

View the statistics in the app, or place a widget on your home screen for at-a-glance updates.

If you want more detail regarding the predictions, including news and analysis, then press the button at the bottom of the app. It will take you straight to the 2016 election prediction webpage on fivethirtyeight.com.

If there is sufficient interest in this type of app, then I will develop additional features, such as customizable notifications that issue when new stats are available or if one candidate's chances exceed a threshold. Please let me know in the reviews what features you would like to see!

Enjoy!

Still says Clinton has 74% chance of winning.

As the developer has told you all these are statistical models showing how the college will vote. Not the popular vote. You are a moron if you think anyone can win 100 percent popular vote. Great simple app with an easy to use interface so thanks for taking the time to build it. One thing though, you should have put Gary Johnson and Jill Stein on even if they were all zeroes. Time to stop perpetuating the two party system that lead us to the terms trumpsters and libtards. Vote Gary Johnson!

Just a simple display of FiveThirtyEight. Ignore the pro-Trump whining about "bias"

Of course I support Hillary But it makes it seem like she has won by a landslide.

It shows California at 100%, yet most people I know voted Trump.

After a reinstall it seems to work now for the different states. I will keep it and check if these really get updates. If so I rate it higher.

How can this app state it has 5 stars when half of the reviews give it 1. I only downloaded it to write this post. I havent even opened the app yet. I looked at it again still states 5 stars until you tap on the piece of crap app

This app is fine. It gives mobile access to Nate Silvers FiveThirtyEight poll averages. Trumpets are upset that it is reporting real poll numbers instead of validating their far-right thought bubbie, so are giving it 1 star.

Does exactly what it claims to do regardless of whether or not I like what it says.

Great job! Guess "the trumpsters" were WAY OUT OF LINE about questioning your bias and accuracy.

I'm a huge fan of this app, specifically because the widget lets me keep an eye on FiveThirtyEight's projections without having to open their entire forecast in Chrome (which takes forever to load). Also, props to the dev for being so responsive to feedback and fixing bugs quickly!

Update: widget now updating as expected, great to have (for election junkies) instead of launching browser every few hours!

10/9/2016 update: Everything seems to be working well now. 10/5/2016 update: Now I can set the update frequency for the widget (by deleting and recreating the widget), but the new widget has an extra line of text ("National") which means the numbers - the most important part - all but unreadable. Getting closer, but not quite there! ORIGINAL: The app works fine, but the widget is currently reporting "no data" for me. Would be great to get the widget working consistently. Also, it would be great to be able to adjust the polling frequency (or even know what it is currently is), and to be able to choose which 538 model it reports.

Great for keeping up with poll numbers.
