It's difficult to know which is worse - the app or the infrastructure. Either way, they don't comminicate properly. Left my car to charge, came back 30 minutes later (and much poorer) to find it hadn't charged and nothing from the app to tell me there was a problem. Not sure why we even need an app, unless it is just to gather data. Much better just to use a contactless card.

This app is disgraceful. It's the only way you can use public chargers, but nearly every time it is unusable. So frustrating! You can't type into fields because the keyboard covers them, you can't click buttons because they are below the bottom of the screen but you can't scroll. It makes you type & click for ages before finally admitting when a pump is out of service. The old pre-app system of swiping a credit card was way faster, simpler, didn't need internet or smartphone, & actually worked.

Haphazard! The fundamental problem with this app is one of mobile connectivity. Often, the app reports a connection error mid-charge and this sometimes prevents the user from stopping the charge and disconnecting. If this happens during the day customer services are helpful. If it happens at night you are left to your own devices. Time to scrap this approach and adopt the Instavolt model. Just turn up, tap your card, charge and go.

Unstable, much like the ecotricity network. I generally can't charge without re-entering my card details every time. QR code scanner doesnt work properly. Last time I used the app, the first charger crashed. I drove to the next charger on the advice of the helpline, at which point the app would only activate the original charger, over 20 miles away! This app is a guaranteed painful experience!

Really flaky based on first experience. The app keeps locking up, scanning the QR code is very slow and unreliable (it's far quicker just to enter the 4 digit code), I tried and failed 4 times to charge using CCS at which point everything stopped working altogether so I had to move to the adjacent charger, restart my phone and start again. I could then only use AC 'fast' charge which added about 4% charger in 25 minutes. Not an acceptable mainstream experiences yet.

This app has lots of potential, but took many attempts to register the charge point as well as both start and end charging. Was a pain in the pouring rain. Other than that, it's really good to be able to leave the car charging and keep an eye on the status while we have a cuppa.

Can you make the T&C text easier to read on Android guys? The body is small taking up about half the page in width making text unnecessarily small. Also the font colour is a really unuseful light grey compounding the effect. The terms also state pricing is detailed in the app but it isn't. Or maybe you have to be at a pump. What's not clear is what happens if you use 15.1 kWh? Are you charged for 16? The car list is a nice touch but the list is not up to date so the intended functionality...

Pull up at Fleet services last night in the pouring rain, how about some cover over the charging points with lighting. none of the charging stations were working, what a sham. Who wants electric cars if this is the situation. Next onto Winchester, again pouring rain and no illumination over charging station (only 2 stations). Why oh why do we have to have an app. I am of a generation where my mobile is only a phone and I have no apps. what's wrong with using a credit card. No one at the services knew how to use the charging station, unfortunately my phone just would not accept the app. Luckily my wife's phone worked after some considerable effort and we charged as a guest. This was our first long distance use of our new car electric car and we are very unimpressed with the motorway services and the entire concept of having to use an app. There must be many millions of us oldies who don't want apps. but we are being forgotten about in this made rush to use new techs for everything when a simple credit card would be very straight forward solution. Our next car may not be an all electric vehicle if this is how difficult it is to get the car charged. Poorly planned roll-out.

Appalling app, service and system and because it doesn't work properly is trying to take double payments out of my account. It was useless to set up and unclear how to work it. A shame that they are allowed to function when you have no choice to use them when out and about in an electric car. Will avoid using ever again. Not impressed at all.

Completely unusable. Refuses to register my debit card although it's exactly the same one I have set up for GooglePay. I'm stuck in an endless loop of "you don't have payment card set up", then entering my card details, verifying CVC, card verified.... And then right back to square one " you don't have a payment card set up". Uninstalled, reinstalled, cleared cache. Nothing works. Utterly hopeless.

Tried to use a charging station. App could not connect to a server, had to use web interface. After I finally got the charger to enable and all the hassle, it turned out CCS could not connect to the car. "emergency stop" error. Had to use Engenie 4 miles down the road. Very tempremental service. Disappointing

Remarkable. The worst charging experience I've had in the UK. Almost deliberately designed to be unpleasant. From app to machine. Find another charger if you can.

TOM. H. Feb 11, 2022

Pretty much the worst charging network out there. I reckon that about 75% of the time that I try to use an ecotricity charge point it is broken. I don't understand how they are allowed to continue their presence as a key motorway charge supplier. If you you want to be sure of a charge you should skip these.

Mic. B. Sep 7, 2019

I'm used to charging my car on many charging station but it took me 10 minutes to start charging on Ecotricity because App was failing to process the payment. I had to try different cards until it finally was able to process the payment. The barcode scan didn't work as well, had to put the charge point number manually. Rubbish.

K. C. Feb 5, 2022

Absolutely abysmal. Didn't work at all, not even slightly. The person next to me trying to also use one of these cancerous blights also couldn't make it work. Furious. Thank goodness I had enough charge to get to the other side of the motorway and use a proper tesla charger. You can really learn from them.

Never normally leave reviews for apps, but this was just so bad that I simply had to. Not only was the app truly awful and clunky, but the charges themselves are useless. Tried two, only one I could get connected, and that disconnected after 1kw each time. If there is any other charger close to you, use that.

This app is just awful, unlike other charging apps you can't 'top it up' instead they place a £12 hold on your account, they may only take what they are due eventually, but it means the entire £12 is no longer available in your account. Ecotricity have their chargers at most of the motorway services, if you are going long distance you may stop with them 2 or 3 times each time they reserve £12 when you may have only used £7 or £8 total even worse each time a charge fails they still reserve £12

Only used app once, but so far okay. Download fine, registered fine, slight problem with scanning QR code on charging pump so had to enter ID. Slightly unsure whether to stop charge "early" using app or button on pump so that needs to be more obvious, IMHO. I hear Electric Highways / Gridserve will be moving to contactless payments with all their new pumps, but that's another story...

Sye. A. Jul 28, 2020

The App works fine and found it easy to use. But beware, £12 is blocked from your bank card every time you charge regardless of even small usage. Subsequently released back up to 6 days later by bank. Let's see if this happens... They do not mention this anywhere on their website.

Not very easy to use app, tried to use charge points at service station near Stansted Airport on Sunday as Guest but both devices were not available to use. Hopeless. The barcode scanner needs lot improvement, it cannot read barcode at night so have to manually input charger number

Dav. F. Mar 11, 2021

Totally unresponsive. New android phone and I can install and log in but app unresponsive from then on. Uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times with identical issue. It's always been glitchy but this is just awful. Cannot charge on their network at all now.

The. m. w. I. k. Apr 22, 2021

Won't even allow me to register. Just keeps hanging. Atrocious. How is it acceptable for an app Now registered but the whole network is abysmal and an embarrassment. If you can find one that actually works and charges correctly, I'm pretty sure you win a prize!

Mat. S. Nov 18, 2020

App works fine. Browsing for chargers is difficult if you don't know the name of service stations on your route. Why no map view? You can only have 10 favourite pumps which isn't enough to view a long return journey. Only had one failed charge so far.

T. C. Jan 15, 2021

App doesn't read bar code in broad daylight. Stopped working after 5 minutes but luckily the car carried on charging. However, on restarting the app it stopped the car charging so you have to unplug the cable, plug it back in again then start all over again.

Gar. T. Aug 15, 2020

This app is so unreliable. Constant crashes, keeps failing to initiate charges. Even when connected to WiFi will often say it can't connect. So much for the future!

Mat. C. Aug 16, 2019

Very difficult to update as you travel towards a charging station, so you can't tell if it's still available. And crashed as soon as I'd connected, and took a few minutes to restart when I wanted to end the session.
