Electric Service Calculator
The Electric Service Calculator (Calculator) is a convenient tool to determine the minimum electrical load demand for one-family dwellings based on the Standard Calculation Method as defined by Article 220 of the 2011 National Electrical Code (NEC®). Electricians from other countries are welcome to use the Calculator as well. It is your responsibility to insure that your community implements the NEC for the United States.
The Calculator determines grounded and ungrounded loads for general lighting, fastened (or fixed) appliances, dryers, cooking appliances, heating and A/C units, and the largest motor. All numeric entries are in Volt-Amperes (VA). The calculated loads are compiled to determine the total service load for a single-family dwelling.
After the service load is calculated the Calculator determines the size of the service-entrance conductors required for the dwelling. Proper sizing of the conductors is required to ensure the safety and efficiency of the service.
The Calculator is designed to be an aid to electricians in electrical load calculations and is not intended to replace Article 220 of the NEC® or the NEC® as a whole.

Very usefull
If you are an electrical contractor, this is a perfect tool for service installation and upgrade discussions. Quick and handy to be able to show the home owner why he needs a 125A main as opposed to the 100A they've had for years, even though they added 20KW of electric heat to their 500 square foot cottage. (yes I a had that discussion)
