Electric Sheep Live Wallpaper
It comes with 200 download credits built-in (twice as many as in v1.4), each good for one sheep. After they run out you can get more credits with an in-app purchase (for half the price). After downloading the initial flock, you should get a few more each day.
The app is specially designed to minimize power consumption. With normal use it should have no measurable impact on the battery, however when it's first installed and is downloading the initial flock it takes more power. It has an option to only download when on a WiFi network, in case you have a limited data plan.
Once you install and run it, tap the screen to bring up the status overlay, or hit the menu button to see the main commands, including the preferences where you can change the speed (FPS).
By default the speed is set to slow so it's not too distracting and doesn't use too much battery. If you want it to go faster, use the preferences. You can also set it to stop running when your battery gets low.
Note: the sheep that you download are saved on your SD card. You can back them up yourself, and share them among your devices. But if a device is wiped, the sheep on it are lost. You can restore the app, and it will come with points that you can download new sheep.

I was super excited in the beginning to see that it was available in the app store. WASTE OF MONEY. Now I am very disappointed. $1.99 for blurry images on a loop that plays the same images on repeat. I started with 54 sheep. Left the app running two nights in a row. It only downloaded 1 more sheep. Wasted money, not even worth the trouble of trying to get it back. Consider it a donation.
Can never get it to download more sheep. I have credits for about 250 sheep but after install and initial download of 41 or so it never gets more. NO matter the device. It forces you to leave the app running for an hour time to go down to check for more but it never does. In the end running app all night on wifi still never yields any more downloads. I want a refund on my purchases as I've never once been able to download more than a handful and use credits I bought.
Loved the screensaver before it was ever on my phone but this is not the same quality...it could be and I hope that it will be . Nowhere near the level of detail nor versatility as is on computer . Phones are powerful enough to handle it ..why not bring the spirit of what made electric sheep so popular and innovate this unique fractal experience!
The app does not fill the screen on my Galaxy S10e, making it worthless as a screensaver for me. The interface and options seem a bit kludgy by other design standards. If I find a fix or the app is updated, I will reevaluate, but for now, I am disappointed.
Received notification that it was overwhelming the CPU. Background wallpaper seemed to be stuck in infinite loop. Backgrounds are nice, but can't run them for long periods of time on my galaxy Tab.
Not optimized for Android 10. No updates In 5 years. Supposed to be open source just wish the frame rate would go anywhere close to where I selected 30fps. Couldn't even get 3fps. If there is a fix I'd like to know.
I've loved the Electric Sheep screensaver forever, and am very happy to be able to run it on my phone. I just wish there was an option to hide the bottom navigation bar while in Daydream mode when my phone is charging.
Great visuals but why should I have to pay for more fractal displays wen they have a fully free version for the pc . If you can ignore the lack of variety past the few you get then it's a great deal.
Was super cool but now abandoned by the developer. No updates in 6 years. Won't run on Android 11 on OnePlus 8 Pro. Bummer. Update a year later: still doesn't work on Android 12.
I second the request of another 4-star top review in that I'd love to be able to disable the home button toolbar that shows even in fullscreen & screensaver/daydream mode, if I could hide that it'd be 5 stars, definitely.
It would be 5 star if I could run at over 30 frames...... I have a very powerful phone and absolutely love this app..... Ive been running electric sheep in my pc since 2011...... If u can make it so u can run this at 144 frames.......at least 60...... Please please please add this guys much love and fantastic work 😘
I have 700 sheep. Everytime I turn it on it's playing the same 2 sheep. I can only get it to change by hand selecting a different sheep. Then it will go back to the same two.
Used for years and it always worked great. Now I can purchase more credits for more sheep and it doesn't download more sheep with my 192 credits I already have. Really disappointed :(
They stopped updating almost 5 years ago which is a good indicator of if it will ever receive the developer attention it obviously desperately needs. I hope they give it a massive update for all the new people paying for it before it entirely fades into the void.
Looks good on screen but extremely choppy and low quality when casting to my 4K TV, which is the main reason for installing this app.
It's wonderful and so creative. I've used for about 10 years and install on every phone I get, or tablet.
Nice implementation of Electric Sheep. So far it seems to be pretty light on battery usage, even when used as a live wallpaper.
Please update the app to work with the latest Android better. It works, but works with a warning.

If you own a phone later than 2015, forget installing this. The screensaver doesn't work nor as a live wallpaper

I've been herding sheep for years now it's one of my all time favorite screensaver. Thank you Scott Draves! And thank you Philip K Dick for a piece of literature that has influenced me and apparently lots of people like me.
I've used a 14gb file for a few years and loved it, decided on the app as hey, why not. The whole effects style are exactly the same, which is great, but, the designs never stay still. They constantly transition from one to the next. it's this normal? it's really such a shame as i absolutely love the imagery.
