ElectroSmart

What is the goal of ElectroSmart?
ElectroSmart is a crowd-based measuring application for Android devices that reports your exposition to electromagnetic waves generated by connected devices such as Bluetooth devices, or communication infrastructures such as cellular antennas (2G, 3G, 4G) or Wi-Fi access points.

Why should I care?

Sources of electromagnetic waves are everywhere from the GSM, UMTS, or LTE cellular network to your Wi-Fi access point. Authorities and scientists recommend to reduce the exposition to electromagnetic waves in particular for children.

How ElectroSmart will help?

With ElectroSmart you know how much you are exposed by each source of electromagnetic waves, and you are alerted when a new source appear. Therefore, you are well informed on your exposition and can take simple actions to reduce your exposition.

What is your privacy policy?

We are not collecting your identity or any of your personal data, but only the exposition to electromagnetic waves measured by your smartphone. Our detailed privacy policy is available here: https://es.inria.fr/home/privacy

Very interesting and informative app. Those who like facts and information concerning EMF for sensitivity purposes it is a very useful tool, but also, for those who are simply curious. Living in a remote area, I found the detection of cell tower mobile data available very useful so as to find " hot-spots", thanks to the live detection instrument. No ads, but obviously for that you agree that non-intrusive data is collected for research purposes, which is not a problem. No profile asked for.

I honestly don't think the "my current exposure" rating is accurate, or if it is accurate it's not useful. No matter where I go it's always between 50-60, whether I'm in the middle of the city surrounded by dozens of wifi networks and tens of antennas, or at my Father's house in the country with only two wifi and two antennae signals, it's still the same level of moderate exposure. Obviously that is not useful. What is useful about the app is that it lists all the networks/antennaes though.

It does what it says it will do; however, I tested it in a zero radiation environment, and it still reads/includes the phones radiation so you cannot tell what the outside environment really is (when you are in a non-zero radiation environment). Wondering if they could add an estimated outside the phone radiation read. Otherwise, it just stays in the same range.

Only downloaded that out of curiosity of what this app was developed for. After opening it up I had my first wave scan and got my results. To see if that number would drop significantly, I secluded myself in the bathroom farthest from any Wi-Fi or electronics and that number dropped by 10. So I'll say it's pretty accurate and it does what it says it's supposed to do. I'm impressed.

This is a very interesting, useful app! I love how clean, organized, and user friendly it is. No annoying spam, or pressure to upgrade.. I appreciate this respectful approach, so rarely found in apps. For anyone who does have concerns of high exposure, verified solutions are made available to, but not pushed on you. They simply provide the option to explore what they've found to be effective protection in a designated tab, where you're also able to submit solutions for them to test and verify.

I'm amazed by this app and because of it, I now know the emf hotspots in my home supporting me to seek out essential shielding. It's a little slow to respond to changes taking up to 5mins sometimes but other than that it's highly accurate. I use it where ever I stay and am able to avoid danger zones at the push of a button which is awesome. I'd like to see more shielding solutions in the list and websites of groups who are working to find solutions too. Were all in this together

This app helped me discover that my Xfinity gateway was broadcasting a hotspot for their network along with my own wireless network. Apparently this provider has this in all the wireless equipment and do not let customers know about it. I was able to get this "feature" turned off by Xfinity and this brought the total levels of exposure in my home down to much safer levels. Nice!

Absolutely great! Tons of detail, such as each and every applicable device within range, which seems to be between 400 and 600 feet. I'd have to take a measuring tape to my yard, my next door neighbor's yard and his next door neighbor's yard to be sure of the range, though. I would like to see the addition of a power density scale to compare against the 0/100 meter that they provide. Edit: Scratch that, I found the notation method already included. Amazing app, stay gold Ponyboy

This is a great app with a super great idea on checking EMF radiation exposures. It not only checks for WiFi types but also cell phone tower & even Bluetooth! It's easy to use, works beautifully, has recommendation on can be done for less exposure, & it also has a reliable customer support available to assist u should you have questions or concerns! Best of all it's all free!!!

Of the meters I've tried it appears very well written. Common failures for other Android EMF meters are not observed. It is only a wifi, Bluetooth and cell bands receive meter. In return for the good quality meter it's probably building a geographic model of exposure to those bands that can be coordinated with other geographic models, e.g. health patterns. We are exposed to a lot of external sources of energy the bands of my phone radios use. I expect it's good science as well as a good view.

Just a WiFi and blue tooth scanner. While it seems to pick up devices better than others. With a true EMF detector I should be able to point it at anything and read the frequencies emitted. So you should be able to check the fridge, the charging plugs. Any electrical device. You should be bale to check to see if your new LED streetlights are below the upper exposure limit set by Europe. It does none of these things. It is therefore not an EMF detector but a WiFi and blue tooth detecting app

I have to say the best app that really does work and give you information. Other apps just play with your cam or whatever. With this app I found a wifi signal (that wasn't mine) that changes signal strength with my Bluetooth devices being turned on/off. You can move around and see what changes what to verify something is there when it should be nothing. Excellent devlroped app....

wow super cool and very informative. its crazy to recognize just how much stuff is going on all around us just from our own devices - let alone all our neighbor's and beyond! Has given our household insights into our electronic clutter, not to mention better placement of routers, etc, in relation to our potential health and other interference : )

I was tortured for many years by extreme EMF exposure when I lived next to a cell phone tower. It caused hallucinations, paranoia, insomnia, extreme anxiety and so on. I knew what it was but I just didn't know how to test it or how to block it. It was a time before I had a smart phone and the internet was not as easily accessible. Information was not that easy to come by. I'm really grateful for this unique app,TY very much for thinking outside of the box guys, this app is amongst the cool ones!

Easy to use, nice interface, good info. I've only been using it for 10 mins or so since downloading. Since the reading was higher than I like in bedroom, I removed a few devices that have always on wi-fi, which decreased the value greatly. Will see if my sleep improves.

Very good app, works flawlesly. But I would like to have an option to ignore choosen source - my wifi constantly going over the limit causing alert. I know that it is possible to set the higher limit, but this cause the other sources to be ignored as well. In the section 'instrument' I will be glad to see old fashion style needle and scale which looks like a physical instrument. I have been suprised to find out that my wifi router within the 2G range constantly going over recomended limit.

I like it. Gives an easy to interpret number, showing which sources my phone is able to pick up (my phone picks up Bluetooth, wifi, 3g and 4g, but not 5g). Does not appear to detect my Garmin watch, but my H10 chest strap is a high reading. Of course there are other sources of NNEMF, but these frequencies are often things I _can_ control, by switching off WiFi for example. The explanation of why various exposure levels are rated red, amber or green makes sense and looks scientifically valid.

I'd like to say that this was informative and extremely useful, but it's not adjustable enough to discover other waves sources generated by emf's other than WiFi, Bluetooth, or cellular. I knew there's a lot more than that generated by many electronic devices and appliances in my apartment.

Thank you for being there helping us, helping the world. I e been trippin lately. The microwave looks like it's been tampered with. Steam is billowing out the vent holes on the side of it as though the door was open whole time cooking. Doesn't seem right. So I installed your app. It only goes up a little when microwave on, yet it was in the high rate. Just below high range normally. I dont understand and Angel's try and keep me safe. So your app helps too. Thank you

Jam. C. Apr 21, 2020

I like the many reports on the different sources. However, the meter is always 60-66 and I doubt it is accurate or actually working. No matter where I am or what I turn on like microwaves, wifi routers, 4G mega towers in the city. It's always 60 or 64 or 66.

Extremely instant and useful especially if you do not have a EMF detetor. This app identified that my wifi printer was omitting a high EMF which I thought was not on because I turn off my wifi router. However the printer EMF itself was making the overall reading very high. Once I turned off the printer the indicator went from moderate to low. Thank you!
