Elgato Control Center

I just returned the $130 elgato key light. It's a cool product which is sabatoged by a horrible user interface and experience. I can adjust brightness settings easily on a $20 ring light, but not on this $130 premium offering. Absolutely insane. Stay far away. No way to change the settings except through a backwards wifi connection, which didn't work for me despite hours of trying. What were they thinking?

I've never had issues with this until I needed it the most. I've used this many times for the past two years. Now all the sudden I open the control center and it won't connect to my wifi if the world depended on it! The light will supposedly connect to my phone but then my wifi doesn't come up. So I try connecting to another wifi and it won't connect either. So then I try downloading control center on my laptop but then have even more problems! Get it together people! PLEASE!!

Haven't had any of the issues others are describing. Works great with Key Light Air, easy to set up and adjustments to brightness and temp work seamlessly. Only thing it's missing is the ability to turn the light off from the app. Can do this with much cheaper lights so not sure why this feature wasn't included?

Worked just fine. I switched my phone to our 2.4 GHz WiFi (not sure if that was necessary), and the connecting to the light it worked no problem. Once the light was connected I switched the phone back to the 5 GHz WiFi. I could still control the light from the app. The app is fast and easy to use.

Functional, but just barely. Application disconnects wifi to connect accessories, but doesn't reconnect until you manually reconnect wifi to your phone and restart the application. Not being able to set device profiles/ quick settings is disappointing, requiring manual reseting of lights depending on ambient lighting conditions.

With the mobile apps, Android and ios, I have constant issues with my lights showing as available. I have had to install the Windows program to have constant functionality. For the price you pay to a respected brand, the apps should work all the time.

Horrible! Couldn't connect the device to APP at all! Keeping saying connection failed! Can not open the APP from Macbook. Spent almost 1 hour to try to use the light! Would you please add control button for the light?! It wasted too much time to just use the light. At least give two options!

Worst experience ever to connect and every error is generic, so you never know what's wrong. Website only talks about problems on your own network, device and so on.. Totally useless app and product.

Worst app and wish I could do 0 star. It worked fine for a few days and the app started to have issues. Kept resetting and still can't control the light through app. It keeps not able to find the light. Would not recommend

UPDATE: How is it STILL awful?? I paid $200 per light - I expect an app that works. Connecting lights is AWFUL. I have had to uninstall the app, reinstall it, unplug the light, etc. I'm still battling with it. Elgato, get your stuff together. I need to be able to control the temp, etc, which requires that I have the app connect to the light. So MAKE IT EASY to connect the light on the app. The light itself feels incredibly designed so it's a huge disappointment that your app is horrendous.

Garbage that never connects. Impossible to tell if errord are hardware (the lamp) or software based. Troubleshooting does not acknowledge 90% of errors with app. This is quite possibly the most retarded "smart" device I have ever had the displeasure of owning.

Doesn't connect with phone. Says connected successfully while adding the device but it keeps on spinning forever and I have repeated the process 100 times now without any luck

They're tricky to set up. Their main fault is they are only compatible with a certain type of network security. My 2.4GHz network was set to WPA2(AES), and it didn't work, so I changed it to WPA/WPA2(AES/TKIP), which allows for backwards compatibility with WPA encryption. (you can Google how to do this or ask or ISP if they didn't send instructions). Then they were instantly connected.

An exercise in frustration. Connected properly to app and then never again. VPN on/off, 2.4Ghz/5Ghz/LAN, inches away from signal it doesn't matter, it won't work right. It'd be a nice security feature to just shut off the wifi and use the buttons, but no. The wifi's sitting wide open for someone to connect it to their network (assuming they could even get it to connect). This all goes for the windows app as well. The software implementation is REALLY bad.

Getting the app to connect to my key light air was confusing. It took a few tries before I saw the device. After connecting it works ... most of the time. Occasionally the device doesn't react at all to the app commands, or very slowly. My real gripe with this however is: why an app??? Having physical buttons is much faster and if Elgato stops updating this app I will at some point be unable to control this light.

Garbage app. I was able to use it to initialize my Key Light Airs, but now it cannot find them anymore in the WiFi network regardless of what I try to do. I can control the Key Lights with the Windows apps (luckily, since they don have hardware controls) and even my Home Automation system (Home Assistant) discovered them in the network and I can use it to turn the ON/OFF (only), but the Android app doesn't work at all. It is pure garbage. They don't have any type of quality control on this.

The app found my light but then the light disappeared. Restarted the app and it couldn't find it. Restarted again and it was magically there. No further issue since, except it's just an altogether inferior experience to a hardware remote. Elgato really should have just included one. It's not like it's expensive - my $50 standing lamp from amazon has one. I'm mostly concerned about whether this will stop working or when it'll stop being supported.

App simply stopped working on my android. I thought it was my phone but on a new phone and trying both my 2.4 and 5g network it won't reconnect. Really disappointed

I don't know what people are complaining about. I just set up 2 lights, downloaded the software for PC and Android and all works perfectly. The set up is very easy and this kit makes a massive difference in the quality of my web cam and vlog footage. They make great general purpose lights too. You can adjust the intensity and temperature to get what ever mood you want. I wish I had these when I was a professional photographer.

The drop-down menu to add an accessory shows a limited number of wifi networks, so I can't even select mine 🤦‍♂️

Fails to go through the configuration to make the new light work. The app fails to list the Wi-Fi network I'm using nor will it let me manually set an SSID.

Buggy, slow and useless - no love for Android devices - after spending about an hour fiddling with this I now regret my choice of light source !

Could be better. I understand the struggle some folks have. Many wifi networks force you to share the same SSID and this app doesn't auto-detect your 2.4GHz. I had to manually turn off my 5Ghz in the wireless router settings since there's no easy way to have my phone ignore 5Ghz signals. Once I did this, I could connect to my wifi really easily and set up my key light. Other smart home devices auto-detect and handle the 2.4Ghz network of the same name without this workaround...

Bumped it up from 4 to 5 stars. Great piece of quality kit. Love the light and software (Windows 10 and Android 11). ------------------------------------------------------- PC install ok. Android install - did not work initially. Was just simply a matter of rebooting phone (Samsung S10). Interface simple, works, will bump up to 5 stars after a few weeks use problem free. Fyi - my router security settings: WPA2 Android Software version 1.0.2(87)
