ELM327 Identifier
ELM327 Identifier sends almost all AT commands available and shows what are supported in accordance with the ELM327 official datasheet, so you can quickly check if the adapter declaration is correct or if it's a fake adapter.Some AT command requires a car connection with specific protocol to work; to obtain comparable results, these commands aren't checked by the app. The number of AT commands checked are 97.
HOW TO USE THE APP1
- power on the ELM327 adapter (by the car diagnostic interface or simply by a power supply)2
- if not already done, pair the ELM327 adapter from the android device bluetooth settings or connect ELM327 wifi with the android device3
- start the app and press CONNECT button, select the connection type and eventually select the paired ELM327 adapter4
- after the correct connection, the scan automatically starts5
- wait for the end of the scan and check the results on screen, a white bar shows you what commands (above) should be supported6
- press RESULTS to show scanning details and optionally save results into the internal SD card.7
- optionally press RESCAN button if you want to verify again the adapter
IMPORTANT: a fake adapter doesn't mean that it will not work with your applications.

Helped me choose a new obd reader on amazon as someone posted a screenshot of this test on the amazon review. When compared to my test results my reader only went to v1.4 and the sellers went to v2.1 That explains why the app I wanted to use wouldn't work... So I have ordered the new obd. Thanks for a great app.
not fully sure if this app works or if i magically got a perfect clone. i bought a $2 "MINI" elm off ebay which from what i read is a clone of 1.0. My phone reads it as 1.5 but that doesn't really exsist. The ebay page claims 2.2 and this app says it supports all commands so either im lucky or it doesnt work.
This app says my adapter isnt compatible with all elm327 commands ot something like that. What adapter do i need, or What do i change in settings? Torque works but biscan wont works for my LWN colorado
I got some cheap elm327 v1.5, its working fine on my car and elm identifier identify as V1.5 but it run all 103 comands from 1.0 to 2.2 in green and no errors. Is this good or bad and how is it possible that v1.5 support commands above v1.5?
Very easy to use and accurate detection of OBD device. Quick connection and report. Does what's advertised.
May just be my stn1170 obd reader but beware running it thr 2nd time bricked it. No long respond to the init atz command error. :(Emailed developer and hope he can advise)

fairly reliable then previously. tested 5 bluetooth devices read correctly, however wifi it got two correct and 4 known and working brands came back as unconnected, another app proved all to be ok. will look at this app in a few weeks and will update my results. but hey they trie, and its a good free app for testing, just unreliable

It tells me all of the versions are supported, but when using with another 2 apps the adapter is a "bad clone327" and wont work
One star because my device is not recognized or can communicate with app. My ELM327 is ENGIE branded in Android version. Is fault of my device or app isnt support yet?
The app identified my cheap elm327 clone as a v1.5, however the scan passed every test, even the v2.2 which shouldn't be happening as it can't even connect to my car properly. Maybe the knockoffs are getting smarter with hiding their lack of features.
Brilliant. It connected, scanned, and confirmed the ELM327 sold to me as version 2.1 is in fact a version 1.5 device. That may not be why it can't connect to my vehicle's ECU, but it certainly helps diagnose the issues. I was going to try a version 1.5 device next as version 2.1 has been reported as buggy. No need now.
