Excellent tool for learning US English pronunciation. Quick tip: Depending on the sensitivity of your microphone some sounds may not get picked up as much as others (like some consonants). To compensate, make sure you stress out loudly all the letters of a word, as clearly as possible. If you do this, the accuracy will be almost perfect. Also, it is best if you speak slowly first and then go for speed. (I have the yearly subscription btw)
Interesting and well made app. To really learn proper pronuncation you should turn on the advanced mode. Nice option is the dictionary which allows you to test your pronuncation of the word you'd like to improve. The finding of new lessons could be simplified when the pronuncation course is finished, it takes some time to scroll to the next topic. I personally don't like the leagues because it makes using the app competitive and it's not beneficial for learning.
I've been using Elsa for over 2 years. I once wrote to them some feedback they well replied. The app's improved since then, yet there's an issue concerning the pro version. Roughly a year ago, I paid for this version, which was top-notch, however, after I stopped using it, I soon noticed non-pro versions are becoming ever more restricted from using the app. Not only can we not use most lessons, but now there's a limit to how many lessons we can access per day. I hope you consider this.
Great! I would also make a suggestion that you add word by word repetition to sentence tests. I mean the sentence is "reach an advanced level..." and you could separate out the word advanced and not only see the mistakes in that view but also try to separately pronounce it correctly. Hope you understand what I mean.
Let's just say that the app is biased towards only a SINGLE accent and apperently having a British accent makes you wrong, but somehow I'm able to have hours long conversations with my friends on a daily basis. Please if you're a person that is really concerned about their accent DO NOT use this App, really, the way it wants you to prenouce certain words is just awful. Also the fact that you get smacked in the face the moment you make an account with a "Pro" version offer is just pathetic,
For the non-purchased version, your daily lessons are limited. Besides, in most circumstances, it loads for a quite long time. For instance, whenever I want to add a phrase into my study set, it keeps loading. It is a little annoying. However, the lessons are quite worth-learning.
WONDERFULL!!! Is the best way to get a good pronunciation and see yours problems when you speak. Also is very easy to use, very fancy in the visual point. Other point that is very impressive and good to me is the supporting service. Is quick and really useful If you have any questions or problems because they can give a feedback to answer your questions. This is the best tool I found so far to have a way to keep practicing the pronounciation for any sentence or word without the expected embarressment anyone might encounter in the live sessions with anyone. Sometines, I try for tens of times until I get right with an excellent score, I do with with confidence. This App. is a great added value for the English learning community, and should be recommended for every student.
Abasolutely useless. I am a fluent English speaker who wants to improve pronounciation, rather than learn English. No test to assess skill level, starts way too basic. I have 8.5 in IELTS Academic exam (with 9.0 in the Speaking component), yet this app assessed me to be 5.5. Completely laughable...
Request immediate response! Today 25.5.22 I bought an anually 1 full year version of elsa app. When I get into the app it still on the 'free' basic version and it's not on 'full' version as it should be(!). I wrote two emails about it to costumer support and still no respond from them... I do want them to fix it coz' I wanna the Elsa full version as I bought today. Please help me and what can I do?
It's so frustrating: We pronounce correctly and it always count as wrong. I payed for the app and I really do not recommend it, doesn't worth the price at all. Much better studying with a human teacher. The technology of the app must be improved urgently.
Good but needs improvements. It's good for leaning pronunciation. The algorithm used for that seems to be pretty accurate as, as long as you follow the instructions on how to position your tongue, you will get the pronunciation right. There are some bugs (checking the pronunciation of the letter A followed by diff. words). The biggest missing feature is not being able go choose the English accent you want to work with, as not everyone wants to develop an American accent. I certainly don't.
It's good app but I've an issue, sometimes when ELSA record my voice and then my results turns out unexpected Marks, I tried more than twice to correct my mistake and I do my best but unfortunately there's nothing to change even worse, this problem I've been suffering last week, I hope you will fix it. There's something wrong with the sever recently, later on it took forever to load the lessons and calculating score, today it just stuck at loading. I have to stop practicing a few days, not to mention the frustrated time I spent trying to closed and reopen the app. Remember that I'm a paid user, which mean I spent money for the lessons, which is not delivered.
Overall things are great, easy to understand, but sometimes I found problem like the system can't recognize my voice, the scores seems not logical at all, but I'm enjoying this app at all! Hope Team Elsa work on that bugs and make the learning more greatful!
I can't love this app more, you have created an exceptional app, I live in the US and I'm completely fluent but definitely haven't gotten rid of my accent 100% but thanks to Elsa I see the positive reactions of native speakers when I speak, God bless you team Elsa! Please keep improving this wonderful app, I don't know how, maybe more conversations, more words, more topics? It is my #1 App
In general I like the app, but there are 2 disadvantages for me. The first one is that you have to push too many buttons to go the next task. The second is the situation when you want to repeat the phrase (because you made many mistakes)and the app doesn't show you your previous mistakes, when you pronounce the phrase again. I think showing your previous mistakes would be very helpful. But anyway many thanks, I try to study every day.
It's a great App and I felt I was improving a lot my pronunciation in a short time of practice. For the first time I found something that really works. I didn't use it for a while as I was travelling and now when I tried to login it didn't recognize my email, like if I didn't have any account. Had to register again and lost my progress. But what is worse is that I'll have to pay again for the Pro version when I paid for one year subscription, $70 AUS, just 3 months ago.
I can't reach my own account. The system keeps showing no registered account found!!!. If it was so how can the freaking email was sent to me and keep notify me to get into the app???? I've already bought a book from certificate program. If you don't allow me the reach what I've bought so pls get my money back. Or let me know what's going on with the freakin registered email.
I don't like to provide my card details for free trail period . It looks like you chance it by letting people forget about it and then charge for something they might not want. If it's a free 7 days trial then it should be without providing payment info.
I paid my three months subscription two weeks ago and the contents still locked, I haven't had the opportunity to improve my English and I couldn't find any support in the app. Disappointing.
It's not useful . It's totally made for only learning English . I needed a application to pronounce words of science but it totally focus only on test ,Assignment etc. Sorry but it wasn't helpful for me . If you can make it flexible then make it
Helpful app for people who do have a thick accent. I don't really benefit from this application as my speaking skills seem to be on a very high level. I would benefit more from more focus on particular intonations, different (and typical) british expressions and anything that makes your English speaking more british in general. Though, as I mentioned, I believe this is a helpful application for those wanting to remove the most prominent native accents.
Can you add a new function allowing users to edit the translation of the sentences in the lessons created by themselves? I created some lessons but the translations werent quite correct and I wanted to correct them. And I hope that there will be a function allowing me to find lessons by user's name. For example: I just found out an interesting lesson created by an user named A, I know A created many other helpful lessons but I can't find out his other lessons cuz there's no searching bar.
When I tried using the trial version of the app it was perfect. As soon as I've bought its 1 year membership I started having problems with the app such as calculating the score. It keeps saying "failed to calculate the score try again," And as a result, it makes me take the same lessons everyday.
