Basic email app that just shows your inbox without presumptuously deciding what you want to see. Selecting multiple posts is a bit awkward, and when you want to delete or move them, you need to go to the bottom of the screen, whereas you go to the top to do the same thing for an individual email, which I find needlessly confusing. Otherwise, an excellent alternative to Gmail or Outlook.
I've been using it for years and it's been mostly satisfactory. However, lately, customer support has been completely non-responsive to feedback/problem requests. I've reported the same issue more than once and have heard nothing, not even an acknowledgement. So, of it works for you, great. If you need support of any kind, you're likely out of luck.
My only problem with the app currently is that it doesn't play well with Outlook. Every several months, I have to re-authenticate. There's no error message. It just stops working. Then, it has trouble sending messages occasionally. It might take hours to send a simple message, or, it may take re-authenticaticaton. Seems to play well with Gmail.
As others have mentioned, I quite like everything about this app, but since the Android 10 update, notifications of new emails has become unreliable. (on Essential PH-1) I have been using it for many, many years but will definitely have to switch to a different app if this is not resolved. I emailed the support team over two weeks ago and did not receive even an acknowledgement that my issue is being looked at. *Update: this issue remains with Pixel 5 and android 12. I'm finally giving up. :(
I agree with the other recent reviews. This used to be a great little app but over the last few months it's become frustrating, such as Emails sitting in the outbox until you close and restart the app. Not the professional level resource it used to be.
Used TypeMail for years but recently its had a lot of problems with accounts not syncing, emails not sending and now when deleteing an account and trying to re-add it it doesn't accept the password which I have verified is correct - it seems to have a major problem with outlook/hotmail/live (basically microsoft based) accounts. Will be deleting today and using something else from now on
Used this app for many years now. Always works flawlessly on android. It's a shame I can't seem to save my settings to make phone migration simpler. Other than that, multiple account handling, smap flagging and folder management and searches work a treat.
Really quite good layout and functions, but it is too unreliable. Emails just don't show up sometimes that do show up in for example the outlook app (which has much worse design but at least you get the emails).
It us very easy and efficient to use. All my emails are in one app I don't need to have different apps to open my mails.
app used to be great but I can o longer delete emails, they just pop straight back. If I can't delete emails, then what's the point of the app. Some emails are without content. I have to log ont via Web to see them. at this point I am going to uninstall it.
App is working well thus far. I use it on 2 different Yahoo email accounts. I have the accounts set up to poll email at 30 minute intervals. I really like the icons used to identify the sender. After 3 years of using this app, I still really enjoy it for use with 2 Yahoo email accounts.
TERRIBLY RESTRICTED!! Now FORCES you to sign in to ENTIRE Google Account (adding entire account to Android phone) even if you want only Gmail email portion of account! (It used to be able to do this and have multiple Gmail email-only accounts added to TypeApp.) Now, TypeApp ALWAYS AUTOMATICALLY OPENS Google Account sign-in screen, even if you try to bypass by inputting Gmail IMAP email settings - NO WAY AROUND THIS, even with generic "Add Account" -> "Other Email" and then Automatic UNchecked.
Exceptional email app with one small issue... I can't seem to retrieve all my emails. Another user posted that it's a month's worth and no more. Seems to be the problem here. Am I missing something or is there a way to to view the rest of my emails?
Blank when opening. Have to open twice before showing contents. Uninstalled. Edison email much better.
*Update* This app recently became really buggy and constantly gets hung up trying to send emails, meaning they don't send and get completely lost. Multiple restarts of the app required to get emails to send. The nail in the coffin is that I've now noticed that it's randomly not syncing some emails. They're there online and in the Gmail app, but never show on Type App, no idea why. I'm now using the Gmail app instead. Previous review: My go-to mail app for Android. Best one I've tried. A+!
Been using for years without problems, on several devices, but since the 25th Jan 2022 it stopped getting new messages on all devices. Using a different app I can get messages so it is not a server problem. Was looking to export settings to reinstall but there seems to be no way to export other that just the accounts to the cloud (no thanks). More people are complaining about similar problems around the same time, coincidence? What changed? Sending is still OK. Only POP3 not (didn't test IMAP).
Around Jan 19th, 2022 or near that date, there was an error with authentication and when I clicked on it, it was telling me to change my password but at first I didn't than I did since my emails weren't updating now all of a sudden, I keep getting spam emails everyday. I keep sending them to the spam folder but I keep getting them and this wasn't an issue before. Other than that I loved the app but I'm currently looking for a new mail app unless something changes.
Typeapp has become my favored email client for Android. It has a useful selection of configuration options, and well-organized, intuitive, clean interface.
This app was once the duck's guts... But right now, it's unusable. I have four accounts, and when I open the app, it stays blank no matter which account is open. I have to kill the app and reopen- and when jt opens again, only that one inbox is visible. Wanna change which inbox you see? Click another, the close the app, and then reopen it again. When it worked, it was a solid 4/5 stars, with the only mark down being mostly personal preference. We can worry about that if the app starts working.
Ver good app. Use it all the time and it is very useful to have all emails in one place. I love the fact that you can set the retention to a few days only.
Very easy to set up accounts. Keep accounts separate or merge. Also easy to set up filters. Good app.
I've used this app for years and it was flawless. But now it eats emails as I open them, sending them god knows where, but certainly not to the bin. I've had to switch back to the GMAIL app sadly.
Works properly in landscape mode, an improvement over gmail which doesn't refresh the displayed message. So far so good.
I've used this app for years but it now appears to have an annoying bug. It is not syncing properly, i have to manually ask for an update sometimes.
This is a nice BlueMail-alike. However, I can't give it more than three stars because I cannot open an email from the inbox without having to go out, clear my open programs, and then go back into the app. Even then, sometimes I will select an email and it won't immediately open. It will take a full two seconds of appearing to do nothing before it pops up.
I've used this app for a long time with no complaints at all. Recently however it won't load previously-opened messages already in my inbox 90% of the time. This is especially problematic because I would think emails already downloaded, opened, and staying in my Inbox would be accessible but they aren't-- awful for time-critical items. I can't depend on this app at all right now. If it's an important email, I have to screenshot it so I know I can reliably access it later.
The app is simple, powerful, and really got the job done. It was, and still kinda is, the best app if you had multiple email accounts across different providers. Older versions of GMail didn't have that. But that's recently changed. But the main problem I have is with notifications. It only sends a push if something's in the INBOX folder. I tried every setting I could, but if something drops in different folder, I don't notified. That's a dealbreaker for someone working in IT.
I don't recommend this app for anybody that needs dependable service. I have my Hotmail account set up and I go through periods of days and/or weeks where it randomly won't refresh. Makes no difference what type of network I'm on. It will suddenly work fine for days and/or weeks then here we go again. I have been reporting this problem for well over a year or more and there has been no fix. Great app when it works.
I have been using this app for years. It worked really well for me. Unfortunately, recently, a few problems occur frequently (need for authentication) or systematically (takes a long time to send messages, and also mistakenly says that transmission has failed ; need to open the app once then close it then reopen it).
