Broken after most recent update. Regarding music library. Artist and album artist lists are broken and do not show titles. I can still see my albums, any suggestions on getting my artists/ album artist lists back? Edit recent update to the app resolved the issue. Thank you for the constant maintenance. Changed to 5 star
Just downloaded. It plays good through android to Chromecast, except if I close the app or my phone locks, when I go to open app again it doesn't recognize it's playing, and if I try to play it plays on my phone, leaving me no way to pause/control the Chromecast. Also after an episode ends, the next plays but just shows a loading Emby screen.
There's a problem can't remove download items. No Matter how many times i remove download items it keeps downloading same items.
Does not support viewing videos in portrait mode. Instead, it forces horizontal rotation every time. Why this is the way it is is beyond me. No reason to use this useless app when the web client (which works perfectly fine on mobile) works really well and supports viewing videos in portrait mode.
Getting close to great. I used Plex to stream my own music, movies and TV libraries for a while but found too many problems and limitations. The Emby dev team is much more responsive, and on most dimensions the server and client software is more stable and useable. I am hopeful the next server release will address a few usability issues I have posted about in their forums, and then I will likely to buy a lifetime premier license.
Very buggy. Pip breaks all the time, fast forwarding and rewinding works very poorly. Video stops playing randomly at times and requires the app be forced closed. If you play a video and back out you continue to see the loading icon until you force restart the app. Expected a lot more from the app.
Audiobook support is lacking position sync, can't even remember resume point once closed... boo! Have spent lots of time on forum discussing audiobook issues as well as basic downloaded media and how its handle. I'd like the app to more self aware, and rely less on user. For example, if I've downloaded an item, why do I need to go to main menu and find the item in a separate drill down menu? Why can the app know its downloaded when I find it in the main library and just play the local copy?
Good media server and app, but it has one weird missing piece. You can sort videos by date, but not picture. Need to add the ability to sort pictures by date (newest first).
Emby client no longer available on this site. Very very disappointed as l now have to find another way to play my movies from my emby server library. Are you guys going to reinstate this app. Pleeeeese There are a lot of unhappy users who face This deletion of this app. Fix please
I love this app. Great development, support and awesome comuinity. Server hosting required (or cloud service by developers) but available for plenty platforms. Do recommend to techies and enthusiasts.
There is no option for fullscreen in the app.It shows content in a shortened screen.Need the fullscreen option.It would be better in content watching
Was great, paid unlock it and had been using it until very recently, now if I try to connect via mobile data it just times out and says server not available, nothing has changed on my side, and it still connects fine when I'm on my home network... Seems my device just is not unlocked any more :/ Started paying the monthly sub for premier, worked fine for a few weeks, now all of a sudden I can't get remote access again.. works fine on the local network.. I have not changed any settings, JUNK..
What happened to you guys? Playback is not smooth as it was used to be, always buffering. Fast forwarding, reversing causes restart of the show. It's a mess
I found Emby after encountering constant playback issues using Plex. It's simple and works as intended for the most part so I'm happy, but it's not without its issues. Say when I'm streaming a TV series using Chromecast, there are times where I need to disconnect from Chromecast completely first then connect again in order for me to move on to play the next episode. If I don't do that, the next episode rather than being casted onto the TV, will play on the device (phone) instead.
Philips TPM191E Android TV is not compatible for this app. Why? It's a pure android tv from philips.
I really like Emby and this app as well, but I have a problem (using Android 8.1.0). When I play an episode of a tv series with a theme song by casting it on a (for example) chromecast, the theme song doesn't stop!! It's quite annoying and I think it isn't supposed to happen. Obviously I disabled the function from the menu. That said, the app is really well done, thank you!
I love this app, I use it daily. Its an excellent way to keep all your media organized and easily accessable. Its kinda like having your own personal netflix! Although I miss the skip episode feature, I used to be able to skip back an episode, but the skip back button seems to be missing on the s9 version. In addition I miss having the ability to swipe up and down on each half of the screen to adjust the volume and brightness of a video. Please bring back these features!
Used to be all right, not perfect, but it played a show from beginning to end. Not without several interruptions but we managed. Haven't been able to get it to work in weeks. Whatever I turn on, it plays for about 15 seconds, then inexplicably freezes, and no matter how many times I restart the app or refresh the server or remove/re-add the file—whatever attempt I make to start over—I can never play that video at all again. It just sits there "loading" forever. Profoundly useless.
App works fine, nice layout. However, I have to sign in every single time (even though I've check the 'remember me' box). This is extremely annoying and most of the time I just don't use emby for this reason. It takes so long to enter my email and password 1 letter at a time on my smart tv. Also, the movies etc I watch via the app, almost always buffer. I've ensured my internet is flawless. I always get around 60-70mbps.
2019 edit. still pretty buggy, still far from good looking but it doesnt log me out now buggy, slow, ugly. it's no plex. but you'll be paying just like it was. so many problems with this, it doesn't look nice and they charge you. after getting logged out randomly i decided enough was enough. plex, it has its problems but it's a thousand times better than this. all this has to do is be a server backend wrapping ffmpeg, and a library frontend. but they do such a terrible job with both.
So the app has gotten much better over time, but now the only thing that's not working 100% is casting music. I have a chromecast music and I'm trying to use emby on my phone to control my music from my server to the chromecast at home and the app is buggy. Sometimes the gui controls disappear and all that shows is the album art, or if I want to switch from an album to shuffling all songs I have to restart the app to work right. So close to being perfect.
Would love to give you guys 5 stars because I love Emby! But the "edit images" feature only allows you to delete the thumbnail and make it black. It doesn't allow you to change the image like it does on my PC version. If you guys fix this I will change my review to 5 stars and tell you what I love about this app. Thanks! Other than that, Emby rocks! I love it!
A decent media player, and if you only want to play movies, then it is fine, but if you ever want to fix any of the errors it makes in identifying films, then look elsewhere. On my high (ish) res 10" tablet I get a full 1.5cm to see what I'm typing and even then the UI insists on scrolling the input field until it is out of view so I have guess what I'm typing. And all the overdone on-screen furniture wastes space too. Forget my using my 7" tablet! Not everyone has a 32" 4K screen available.
Wasted so much time and money on plex. Emby is the ideal alternative that is way, WAY easier to use and maintain. Had an issue with remote connectivity which was resolved in less than 10 seconds after my port was forwarded. Ty again for this GEM of system and software. 3 days left on my trial and ill be deciding which route to go to support your efforts.
Having had so many issues with Kodi on my TV (slow sync, storage), this is exactly what I was looking for and more. So fast, so versatile and easy to set up. Very impressed. I'm just waiting for an message popping up saying my trial has expired, just can't imagine this is actually free.
Works like a dream.... But... I really HATE how everything is "FREE", until its not. Pricing structure is misleading. I understood that playback from your server over a local network is free for up 25 devices. It is not. AND THEN theres the PREMIERE subscription. Great app. Great functionality. Just... Guys .. make the pricing structure a bit more apparent. Add it on the website. I feel duped.
