24/04/2022:good to see updated version allows me to read my smartcard, BUT can not add it to app to buy. Can the smartcard ticket option be fixed in the app. When trying to read or update card, app gives read error. I should not have to download a app from another train operator to read or update my EMR smartcard. App based electronic ticket is reluant on phone battery and does cause delay at the ticket gates. Smartcard does not require battery or Internet when on train. Please fix the error
The app is okay, but seems to have developed some issues with my banks security checks. If I verify my identity with my bank via phone/text, it works fine. If I verify the paymemt with my banking app, when I go back to the EMR app, it's just sits there indefinitely saying 'payment processing'. I've no idea if that's a bank issue or EMR issue.
The app has recently changed and it is now difficult to navigate. Finding/activating a smart card is not easy as it is difficult to see where this can be done in the app
The new version is not accessible for anyone. it's very difficult to use and so confusing. please bring the usual structure back.
You've removed a very useful feature on the old app where I could instantly see the live journeys time on the home page of the app and it saved my favourite journeys. I now use national rail app to see live times
The only useful feature used to be the quick view of upcoming times on saved journeys, latest update has removed it. Now you may as well use national rail.
Updated app can read your smartcard but wont load a new one on - so its 3 hours on hold (and counting) with EMR trying to sort it out.
This app is about as user friendly as a cornered rat. Asked to login repeatedly. Asked to enter journey details, repeatedly. Has this developer ever tried to use their own product before inflicting it on users? I doubt it.
Absolutely terrible update to the app. No more live updates on the home page, so I have to click through to a webpage to see any details about the trains I want to catch
Very buggy. Cannot pay on the app as the keyboard freezes on it. The older app was much better.
Rubbish update. Whoever thought of this update is definitely NOT a daily user and doesn't have the customer in mind. Checking departure time on daily basis used to be a quick check, NOT anymore.
Great service. Easy to to find the ticket you want. Booking system is pretty smooth.
I used to use this app every day to check arrival time of my son's train. This function seems to have disappeared - you have to use the website now.
I bought a Super Off-peak Return ticket (return within a month) using the app and saved it to the wallet. On the outward journey all was well but when I was preparing for my return journey a few days later I couldn't find the return half of my ticket. The user interface is appalling. I eventually found the outward half under Expired tickets but couldn't activate the return half. This doesn't happen with a paper ticket. EDIT: Make sure NONE of the green filters are enabled.
Needs work: Barcode will often dissappear, or it'll flick back to the ticket while you wave it at the scanner meaning it won't scan. It takes far too many clicks to activate the ticket. It should be linked to the delay repay, but instead you must visit the website and fill in all the details of the ticket that they know already plus a screen shot of the ticket within the app! The return leg should default that ticket to activate on the top, or use the same Barcode for each leg.
One of the most confusing apps I've come across. If you want to book tickets, it's not at all intuitive. Nowhere near as good as the East Midlands Train app. Can't even store tickets electronically meaning collection at the station on departure or a separate trip to pick them up! I just book on-line now....
Cannot even buy a ticket with this - "Please add smartcard" "Oops, smartcard already exists". Why make an app that doesn't work?
Disappointed with this from an experienced train operator. The UX is poor, with too many clicks to get to the appropriate screen; a blend of app screens, calls within the app to Web pages, and loading of pages in an external browser. The UI is large and clunky. There is no NFC to check your smart card. Attempting to create an account nearly made me break my phone because the error trapping for invalid characters in passwords is awful. Apart from the colour scheme, the EMT app is superior.
Very frustrating as you cannot see your current trip once it has departed. You get on the train and cannot see the trip anymore and useless in case it's a multi leg trip as you don't know what tains to get from where and when. App not remembering where you left it when you switch apps on android. Also the previus departures in case you need to check for arrival times. Season ticket on Smart card not showing in the app. Improvements can be made also with the delay repay to make the claim easier.
This is a good app when it works, it's a nightmare when it doesn't (fails to load/open) when your just about to board your train. Would advise you print your tickets as a back up. The app gives a lot of information about train services ant the ability to purchase tickets on the go is great. On the whole I would recommend not only the app, but EMR on the whole. Very good train service.
This app is an absolute nightmare. You can't check if there are available seats before you book your ticket and if you buy a return it will be displayed under the initial departure date and not the return date (with the journey information not actually shown anywhere beyond what time the train is at - I had to double check my confirmation email to ensure the ticket had been booked correctly). The previous app was simple and pleasant to use, why change the format?
EDIT: CAN'T USE GOOGLE PAY TO MAKE A PAYMENT .Terrible app, Trainline is a lot more better. Sometimes very slow too.
Rubbish update. Live departure and arrivals info no longer available. Why not?
App update is cack, it used to be my go to for my train times. Now after update, it's total rubbish
Used to work fine but now won't allow me to open tickets through the app
Great, use it every day to commute. Would be nice if it allowed me to buy multiple tickets with a railcard in one transaction and if it would stop telling me its time to update when there's no update available, but otherwise everything is great.
The app is fast and functionality wise it has everything we look for. However, I would still choose Trainline app to check on which platform my train from London St Pancras is estimated to depart as that information is unavailable on EMR's own mobile app. As an improvement, I would suggest to remove the marketing material from the app UI and make it cleaner and intuitive. Also, I hope you would add crowd management related features on the app. For example: notifying people with potential delays/cancellations based on what they have added to "favourite journeys" list so that people can either 1. take early trains or 2. enjoy the time in a London pub until the disruption time is over rather than being stuck on a queue at the railway station or 3. take (allowed) alternative routes such as London Midlands, Great Northern to any nearest station etc
Far too immature, requires lots more work. The app doesn't even recognise the names of ANY train stations when looking at the "Live Departures" section? Should not have been released in its current state. Why not take the EMT app as a starting point and add further improvements to it instead of starting from scratch and producing a terrible app, the EMT app has far more functionality.
Dreadful app, as bad as the train service. First it refused to let me buy tickets, saying the bank card is duplicated without letting me choose the card that is registered with EMR. Uninstall and reinstall...same problem. Had to delete the card on the EMR site and add it in the app. Then it lost my Return selection in my journey planner so paid for a single electronic ticket. Applied for an immediate refund and got charged £3 to correct the mistake of an unused ticket! Shameful app, dreadful EMR
