A good, free, emulator of a classic programmable calculator. Includes 8 library modules and an emulated printer cradle. I've used it for about a month and everything seems to work ok. It also runs much faster than the ti-59 did, I reckon about 300 times quicker. So programs that could take minutes to run originally are completed in under a second.
My review may seem like a backhanded compliment, but it's not meant that way... This is really well done! That said, I'm *really* glad I didn't have to use the TI-59 at school! It's anything but straightforward ;) Still, this brings back memories (I had an LED TI-30 & an LCD TI-34... still have the latter!)
I've needed a programmable calculator to be handy. I had a ti59 in engineering school in 1972 to do all forms of Engr Math. Transistor field exponents, Euler's complex exponents, Matricies, etc. There is so much! Export&Import your own programs. Keypress audio in settings. Keep digging, it's all there. Original manuals online. I purchased a touchscreen Chromebook, and this Android download works perfectly there too. This is a breathtaking "Work-Of-Art" So Great!
Superb emulator, works a treat, made me feel "totally at home" with it straight away. Wish: What I would love to see is an option to somehow indicate that the "2nd" key is active; this was something I wished I had on the original TI calc! Thanks, lads
Was the TI59 ever able to resolve the algebraic entry y=6÷2(1+2)=9? - because the emulator cannot do it unless you put in the x operator between the 2 and 3 according to the rule of BOMDAS, working left to right. i.e. y=6÷2x(1+2)=6÷2x3= 3x3= 9 I think the later TI-45 treated y=6÷2(1+2) as y=6÷23 =0.26.. so that set a cat among the pigeons. We should always check calculators and their emulators out for fidelity. Using them blindly without knowing their limitations can mean trouble.
Even better than when I owned one Annoyingly it has started making key press noises and stopped haptic feedback. I can't find a way to change it back.
It reminds me of my SR-56 back in 70's...the superb features & expanded programmable steps & memory is fantastic.Numerous built-in programs plus diy program steps to suite the needs can be saved.really awsome!!
Technically it is a Simulator and not an Emulator, since it is more accurate than the actual calculator was...But it is a very good more accurate version of the TI-59.
wow this is the calculator of the all times. really is a clasic fashion and very usefull calculator for engineers and science students of the 70 and 80 decade's
Works Ok but it won't store the Feedback settings. I don't want audio feedback but the settings isn't stored. Until fixed 1 star.
Thanks for maintaining this app! Even my Tesla model S app became unsupported. Had to buy a new phone. Still use my ti59 and printer from 1st days on sale at Lechmere. Used to work at Kollsman Instruments where many calc/printers were used in test and measurement and production line.
Nice calc, it looks like the noises can be turned off and stay off now. Very nice indeed. Great reminder of high school and college days!
Excellent emulator for a great classic calc. Texas Instruments ftw Love the retro Red digits and dot matrix style printer. Is there a way to set the printer trace to on by default?
Gosh this takes me back. My Dad brought one of these home when I was 8 and that was the start of my career as a Software Engineer. Can't really remember how to program it but I use it as my calculator app
This is great. I was looking for the TI-30 Vintage 1979 Red LED Calculator (emulator), and I found this one instead.
I look forward to calculating thanks to Ti5X. Retro looks are great on modern full screen phones.
Love it Behaves exactly like those good old Ti58, Ti59. Great job! I use it all the time as my regular calculator. Excellent
excellent! I have a fourty years old TI-59 calculator and this emulator is equal to original!!!
Even you grew up TI SR-56, this is the best alternitive calculator. Happy that there is still support. 👍
Wrote many TI-58 programs back in '78 while an engineer at McDonnell Aircraft Co. This is a great simulation, better in some ways than the original!
it was my 1st programmable device 35ya... now i still find it useful in my everyday business..! :)
This app takes me back to Bx Science in the late 70's ! Great times had by all :-D
I really dig the new app icon. Great overall.
Wish it had away of making program usage cards like the real 59 had.
Text out of scale with graphics
It's easy to use and a very neat computer.
Horrible, tried to type logarithms and it wouldn't work
58/59 was the best prog calc ever Well done!
This is an excellent TI/AOS calculator with the EE & ENG, and 1/x keys that I am so used to. My 3/5 stars have to do with usability. There is a loud and annoying keypress sound that I can't find a way to disable. The double line font is hard to read - solid would be better. And for those of us with low color vision, changing the red-on-black numeric display to a higher contrast combo would be helpful (although this is true to product). Love it but hard for an old geezer to use.
