All that is cool! But what about Energy Ring consuming Battery?!
This is one of the most exciting question for me to answer. Energy Ring more than anything understands that you need to utilize your battery efficiently (after all, that's why you installed the App, right? ;) .) Energy Ring sits on the screen silently putting almost 0% load on CPU, if battery level changes, Android wakes up Energy Ring. Once awake, Energy Ring quickly updates itself and goes back to sleep. And to be that extra efficient, the Ring goes on deep sleep when you turn off the screen, meaning it doesn't even read changes in battery level when the screen is off.
Accessibility Service Requirement:
Android requires Energy Ring to run as an Accessibility Service, to be able to display on Lock Screen. It does not read/monitor any data, whatsoever. This is especially useful for people who have disability to read numbers and work better with visual data.
No charging animation?
Settings > Accessibility > Visibility enhancements > Remove Animations > uncheck if it's checked.
Screen burn-in:
The original variant of the App, Energy Bar has been used over several years by users on their AMOLED devices, there has been no complains. But there is no claim that it may not happen.
Samsung automatically moves few pixels every now and then to avoid screen burn-in which includes Energy Ring moving away from its original position. This change in position will however be visible only when you have set its thickness to minimum.

it's an awesome app, I loved it. However there is a bug that's really bothering me. When in fullscreen mode (youtube in my case) bringing down the notification panel moves the ring a little then moves it back. it's not a big thing of course, but it is annoying. Also it would be great if I could report the bug from within the app, so I don't have to give a bad review for a product that I liked :/
Super cool and neat concept! One issue I found is that the ring protrudes onto the main screen real-estate. For example, if you are watching a YouTube video, you'll see the bottom portion of the circle on the video. It's kinda of distracting. Maybe include an option for the ring to only be visible in the status bar area when there is a non-system app open. And the partial circle can me made to look like a bar that acts like a full/empty gauge. Hope I'm making sense. :-)
Great idea! Works like a charm. On thing i noticed was that the actual shape of the colored ring(i have an s10+) is slightly, like a few pixels, nudged to the right side so that the line to the right side appears thicker than the left side, which is barely annoying. Other than that I suggest that you add a feature to make the lights have different colors for when charging and not charging, not just different animations.
I can see it without my reading glasses. I'm kind of an app hog, so battery level is something I'm always aware of. It's so nice not to have to bust out the reading glasses just to see if it's time to charge or not. Energy Ring is well-placed on my Samsung Galaxy 10e , and only offsets in a few full-screen games that I play. In those cases, the ring is noticeable but does not obscure the screen in any considerable way.
Feature request: ability to fine tune exact pixel position. Its offset from the hole by at least 3px, enough to be obvious and annoying. Would also be nice if the rotation control in settings stated the degree of angle, or snapped to the closest 45 degrees. Finally, it would have been nice to use the status bar text color, which adapts to its background color to always provide contrast, instead of having to choose specific colors.
After installing and using the wide variety of customization options I almost immediately fell in love with this app. It's only been close to a week using it and I imagine my phone would feel incomplete without it. That being said, the best way to describe this feature app is that it is a slap in Samsung's face for not thinking to implement it themselves. Great Work!
Very unique. It'd be nice for it to show ul on the lock screen, as it's quicker and easier to see than the small percentage number. Also...I wish there was a "rainbow color" that basically cycles through all the colors, all shiny, flashy, and glittery-like. That would be a cool 100% color. While we're on it...how about a "pulsing" option, so when I'm in dire need of charging, then the ring pulses. Thanks!
Great idea for an app, I waited patiently for S10+ support and it came. Made a small contribution too. But here's some feedback based on what I observed. 1. No button to reset default settings. 2. Ring Origin should show number in degrees. 3. Colour configuration, once removed a colour, I can't add it back. Also no option to add more segments. 4. For S10+ because the circle is long, will be great if I can set to only use top or bottom half of the circle only for display.
Great concept I really like the product. However the app is a little clunky. The organization in the personal option is hard to organize because you cant move the tiles you have to delete them and readd them. I still have not quite figured out the pattern. I understand the developer does not have the s10. It is a great app in giving some functionality too the punch out. I would love to see the ability to make custome notifications and colors for diffrent notifications.
This is a great app, worked well for almost a year. Since the last update though, I keep getting a notification that the S10 edition is not compatible with my phone... which is an S10. I'm sure that'll get fixed eventually though so I'm keeping it at five stars. Developer seems pretty responsive. Edited after updating: Yup, sure enough dev team on this one is still awesome. Keep up the great work!
Has Potential. 1)Allow us to *Brighten* colors? Currently we can only change colors which is NOT the same thing. 2)Allow us to adjust charging animation speeds. Currently it's too slow. I (and others) just want to use it for decoration so it wouldn't matter if it's harder to tell the battery. 3)Animations need a ton of work. The default is the only "good" animation.4)Give an option to automatically adjust colour based on average colour scheme on the screen 5)It should disappear on media playback.
When I donated money to this app I liked that the ring didn't show on the lock screen. Now you changed it. Please make a setting to turn it off. Also it's buggy. On the Always On Display the ring flashes on, then disappears every few seconds. The ring also shows when the screen saver is running, which is exactly what I don't want. It was fine before. Now I'm uninstalling. Wish I didn't donate. You should realize that even though some people complain not everyone wants those new features.
It's a very good app, BUT it keeps on turning off. And then I have to install it again because it doesn't let me give it permission. I paid for it because I liked the app and wanted to have the gradient function but then I had to install it again... I really like the energy ring and miss it when it's turned off but getting tired of reinstalling it every few days.. Please fix it!
For the most part this app works as intended. However, one complaint I have... The charging animations don't work :( I actually donated to get the gradient effect(which I enjoy thoroughly) but for some reason I can't figure out how to make the charging animation work. If a dev wants to chime in and help me out, feel free and I'll gladly change it to 5! Also, a cool thing to implement would be notifications through the ring!
Okay first impression are very good and it is simple and easy to use and I can definitely see massive potential for growth. I am hoping that you can make this visible when using the AOD screen on the S10+ as well as the lock screen. Needs to work with AOD as I always charge my phone with the screen off (maybe I am missing something in the settings?) If notification access could be added for incoming/ongoing notifications to show, then this would be awesome. I would pay 4 times the current price.
I absolutely LOVE this app! Tested the free version for a week and fell in love with it and upgraded to paid version. The Gradient color makes it even better and love the way it animates when charging. Things I'd like see in future updates: A way to have the ring always animated (not just when charging). And I would love a way to have the ring on the AOD screen as well and I'd ideally be able to select different colors/animation for that screen - Anyway, it would be cool if the option were there to have it on the AOD as well. But it looks great on my S10+ and gives the punch out a cool effect!
A pretty great app especially the animations when you're charging it but I honestly do not know why exactly, but the ring is not exactly in the middle as it used to so it actually shifts to the left a little so you can a little bit of the white oblong that supposed to be under the camera cutout, probably because of the One UI 2.0 update. Hence, I'm just looking forward to the update because it honestly gives a cool look to your phone which is just fantastic. Kudos to the developer!
Edit March 28 I received a notification that the S10+ version has come out. The ring fits the hole punch perfectly, you can even customize the ring in several ways( size, color, origin, etc.). If I had to dislike somethings thing it would be the ring only works when the phone is unlocked and the charge animations. I'd like to see options for the ring to work on th AOD and lock screen. Great app fully recommend a download look forward to seeing more in the future.
App causes S10+ to make notification sound every single time the phone is unlocked. The S10+ is a pretty loud phone, so it gets annoying when everyone around you knows every time you unlock your phone. 2 stars because I really like the app. Almost gave it a 1 because of how annoying it is. Also would like to see it on the lock screen.
This app is great! Not too many more options when you donate, but it is definitely worth giving a helping hand to the devs! If I can suggest, please allow ring to show on the "Always On Display". Also, please allow us to save certain patterns as "presets". It also has a rotation issue, where it will follow screen rotation for a second before setting back around the camera. Thanks so much for making my galaxy s10 look even cooler!
hi there, great app! just 2 things: 1. if you're playing games in full screen, and the screen dims for idling, the ring will move so only half the ring enveloops the camera hole. 2. if you're using an app that can rotate upside down, the ring will also rotate upside down, therefore not covering the camera hole at all. I'm on S10+ so I don't know if this is also the case with other phones
Great app and amazing continuous support! Been waiting for the S10+ version and some bugs were fixed very fast. I would like to have the ring if the screen is locked and/or on the always on display, so if you're thinking of developing this any further, please keep in mind these festures(I know they will eat some battery, but still).
UPDATE: Dev is a gentleman and a scholar. turns out it was user error. After several emails because I was not seeing the charging animation, I checked a setting on my phone and I had turned "remove animations" setting switched on. I turned it off and app works great! BE SURE YOU HAVE "REMOVE ANIMATIONS" TURNED OFF ON YOUR DEVICE IF YOU'RE HAVING ISSUES.
From a first look this is a great app; simple, clean and most importantly free. However after spending 15 minutes using the app you realise the potential this app could have. IMO things which could make it better: - If it worked on lock screen like Always On Display - If the ring disappeared in screenshots - If you had the option to set a custom notification colour. For example, if I recieve a WhatsApp the ring goes green for 10 seconds - Position of starting point had a 0-360 dial Almost a 5/5
I really like how innovative this app is in terms of utilising the punch-hole camera. Though, something that I noticed... it seems to break a little when you use a higher resolution on your phone; the widths of the ring in high resolution are smaller than for a lower resolution. I think if this could be changed, I would love this app even more!
I loved Energy Bar in the past; this cool little app does the same thing but around the hole-punch of the S10. Allows me to remove battery % from the status bar, and gives me a colourful visual around the camera hole instead. Charging animations are fun. There's an option to not have it show on full-screen apps, which is a nice touch. Maybe it could be extended to the Always On Display, too? :^)
Very nice app and useful in many occasions, but it definitely need some improving. First of all, my biggest (still a small one) problem is that it blacks out the area where the camera would be in screenshots (this normally doesn't happen). The other issue is that it usually bugs out when I go in landscape mode and it either shows up on the wrong corner of the screen, or it shows up under the camera. If these minor issues get fixed, it will really deserve 5 stars!! 😄
