Well the fact that the app is offline and has both Cantonese AND Mandarin reading/characters and English translations is enough for me after a long hunt on Google Play. Although it took me a while to figure out you had to press the button TWICE for the pronounciation sound to actually play. For some reason I can't search as fast by pressing when I use Chinese keyboard only unlike other dictionary apps I know but I can deal with it so overall not too bad c:
It'd be great of we could suggest corrections and additions. It would then become my go to Cantonese Dictionary. Also, the search would be improved if e.g. the 1st result in the search for "red" was 紅色.
Awesome, useful app! Love that there is audio for both Cantonese and Mandarin, and that it shows the tones. Thanks for the last update!
I love this app. I have used it once when I was just pretending to learn Chinese but I found it so great that I'm now learning seriously. It's great for begginers
One of the fastest way to find words meaning. But only for people that can write mandarin character well.
I love it. It gives me more than i want. And it has little ads. Love it
Ok app, would prefer tone marks instead of numbers. Uninstalled and went with another dictionary
What an amazing app! I really appreciate it very much.Lots of thanks and tonnes of love to you ,such a wonderful app building team for making such a very fantastic app both free of cost and offline.Jehovah bless you!---From your loving brother of Lubhoo,Mahalaxmi Municipalty,Lalitpur District,Bagmati Province,Nepal.
Not perfect, but good enough for trial. Appreciated.
It is very useful and easy to use
Great! That's all there is to it.
Thank you
Needs audio to work offline and search in English more than just a single word that would be perfect.
It is very good. Would recommend it to others. Really like the Cantonese pronunciations.
Won't pronounce the second pronunciation.
Excellent and simple resource for both Cantonese pronunciation and traditional Chinese characters.
After the latest update which includes the Unique Feature -Chinese Audio just makes this app extraordinary...life is just made so much easier...time to bring my Cantonese to a whole next level..thanks for all the amazing work 👍👍👍👍👍Support 👌
Thank for dictionary. Very good and nice.
The best
details and clear explanation
Best Cantonese / English dictionary I've found. Would be 5 stars if users could contribute and fill in some gaps.
I love this app!!! It's the most thorough one I've found that also includes Cantonese jyut ping. I do wish that it also included sound files of the Mandarin and Cantonese pronunciations so I can ensure I'm saying it right.
Best of the best
Has been great for me to look up individual words to improve my vocab. Sometimes the results jump back to the top when scrolling but otherwise better than many alternatives.
Good app but i don't find the settings, i want to remove simplified Chinese.
You must search word by word instead the sentences. Example when i want to looking for 喜歡你 then you must delete 你 to display the result.
It's ok
This is a wonderful little dictionary app for Android that includes both Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese pronunciations for common words and phrases! This dictionary is best used when searching for the Cantonese or Mandarin pronunciation of a specific character, compound-word, or phrase. However, it should be noted that when searching for characters using Yale Cantonese Romanization that it's a hit or miss. This is because this dictionary uses Yale with tone marks and Yale with tone numbers interchangeably. I suspect that this is because the database used in this dictionary(CEDICT) is not consistent with it's Cantonese Romanization. In any case, for my purposes this error is inconsequential. I will help you to promote it among my Cantonese speaking students and friends!
A great app with hard to find Yale romanisation. Will likely become my dictionary of choice.
Many English words, when used in a different context, have different meanings. Most electronic, even the so-called "big names", dictionaries often give only a single Chinese definition and/or less than ideal definitions. This Chinese Dictionary Offline, by Danny Ko, not only gives examples of Chinese meanings when used in a different context, it also provides audio examples of all choices. It is an exceptional 5-Star+ app! It's a pity I have yet to find it in the Apple App Store.
