The app works but is definitely limited in functionality and could have a much better implementation. At the moment it is just useful for finding some places and saving them for later. It would be good to have a members area with renewal information. Maybe a change to the map where you can choose an area that is different to where you currently are, to show attractions close to where you might be visiting.
Good app to find near by sites. It makes easier to navigate on the mobile than the website but, here come two stars only, useless when offline. Many places I'm stuck with no reception and I can't find anything until start moving. Please add offline mode. Additional plus would be an option to mark sites I want to visit and the ones I've already seen. Thanks.
1. When I first open the app, it lists that its downloading new data. Then it gets to 'emergency information', waits for a while, invariably fails, then says 'opening app anyway'. Feature should be fixed or removed. 2. When I tap for 'further information' on any of the properties, I get a blank page
Unusable. I type in what and where I'm looking for and it just sits and thinks, not coming back with any results. I often wonder, with developers, do they ever periodically use their app or test it? Update 24th Oct - still not working properly. The most useful facility - the map - doesn't load at all. Why not? Does anyone from English Heritage actually use this app?
I've lost my membership card for 2020/2021, so looked at this app as I thought a great use of an app would be for virtual membership cards. Think how much money would be saved printing cards who wanted to use the app, and how much waste plastic would be saved each year when throwing the old cards away. What did I get? An app which, as a member, I can't even log into, to view membership details, let alone see a membership card. I viewed a site near me (Kenilworth Castle). On the page, there's a single photo, a very short summary of the castle, the address and 6 buttons. Of the button, 3 of them ('Join Now', Events and 'Learn More on our website' needed me to open my browser to continue. So, I have to ask myself, what is the point of this app? Did EH actually ask members what they'd like to see in an app, or did they just sit around a table and guess? Anyway, I see very little use for it - the website gives much more, so it's uninstall time for now - and a phone call to get some more plastic sent to me through the post. Yay 🤨
I downloaded it so I could add my membership card to it. Unlike the National Trust, RSPB and lots of other organizations you can't add your membership card to Google Pay and I don't carry my cards around with me all the time. Once I found there was no way to log in and add my card I uninstalled it as all the information is on the website.
As others say, this app is basically a complete waste of time. Using the 'near me' feature today in Newcastle and it was giving me Chester! I cannot believe that someone from EH doesn't read these reviews or even get the thing fixed...USELESS!
Quite a simple app, purely offers you the ability to look for local venues and events, or join. Addition of membership card would be useful.
The recent reviews on this app are not reflective of my experience. Easy download, immediate booking of available site visit & confirmation - all in about 5mins. Suggest negative reviews may be user error or device incompatability issues. Overall no issues for me. Looking forward to my visit.
Reluctant to give 1 star. Deserved 0. Very poor app. Unusable and look like it was designed by a 3 year old.
Just installed and useless. Map works but clicking on a property's more details goes to blank page. Needs to be withdrawn to get it sorted. Am uninstalling now.
Very sluggish and clunky. "View more" displays a blank page. Essentially, this application is unusable.
I'm a computer programmer by profession and I'm amazed that anybody bright enough to use a development system can produce such an appalling app. Has anybody at English Heritage actually used it? Didn't anybody in management check the design before it was coded? And what happened to quality control? I won't detail the faults, plenty of people have done that already. Cut your losses, bin this junk and employ somebody competent to write a new one.
Map still doesn't load, awful app, have been a member for quite a few years but frustrations like this that doesn't get fixed makes it harder to justify paying the money
constantly freezes, buttons dont work. on the odd occasion it does work not as much info as the old app.
Essential addition for anyone visiting an English Heritage site. Could use a little check box so you can tick off where you've been and membership on the app so you don't need to carry your card around.
It only gives me the option to join now as a member rather than being able to sign in if i am already a member which is a little frustrating. Had to delete as not user friendly nor des it have a members section.
Not very user friendly... Also search by map never works and when click on a particular site it doesn't really pop up.
Sadly unusable. Search is awful, not even entering text works properly. The main menu will not open. If you do eventually get search to work, scrolling is slow and does not let you see the last entry. Opening content from the list takes many attempts to action. It's like they have written there own and broken touch controls. Really poor.
