Protect yourself from data loss through remote wipe or other harmful actions of USSD hacks.In order to protect your device from remote wipe and other USSD attacks, make sure that ESET USSD Control is set as the default dialer:
1. Install ESET USSD Control on your device.2. Use your Android phone to visit our test page: http://www.eset.com/tools/ussdtest (note that this only contains a checker and will not make changes to your phone).3. When prompted to complete action, check "Always perform this action" and select ESET USSD Control.

Please note that once installed, the app runs invisible in the background, with no icon on the home screen. ESET USSD Control only interacts with the user when an attempt to run a harmful USSD code is detected. To make sure the app is installed correctly, go to Android Settings > Applications and look for ESET USSD Control.

I paid for one year mobile protection plan, however they didn't send me any licence key, so I still have to use the free (trial) version. But they charged for it.

If you don't understand technically oriented apps then just install NOD32 for android. Theres even a free one! Its hands down the best AV in the world. All tech heads use it. I even have it on many Linux boxes to protect my windows using friends/windows partition and Linux itself too! Yes, despite the hype, Linux is not infallible.
I have Chrome and Firefox installed on my Note 2 I was unable to perform the test and select Eset USSD as the default with either of these browsers. It worked perfectly with the Stock Android Browser so for anybody having problems setting this up properly try using the Stock Browser instead and it should work.
Use the stock android browser and the setup will work as described. However, after installing I discovered that ESET Mobile Security & Antivirus already has this functionality built in, so I'm uninstalling this in favour of the full package.
It use to work but I recently reset my phone and reinstalled it. Now when I clicked the link nothing happens.
This vulnerability is only valid on phones that run touch wiz ui. All Samsung devices come with touch ui as stock. Your HTC device doesn't. So your not vulnerable to this threat.
Nice concept. Wish it can stop harmful scripts and popup links over browsing.

Does not Work! Just installed it on my ZTE A506 Android 6.0 When i make the test that you provide, my device is still vulnerable!

Maybe it's time to update this app's title which includes an adjective or other term indicating it's not been updated in about 7 years and may serve no purpose other than SEO and testing (or antiquated systems). Just a suggestion.
