you can simply call beginSmartConfig() like this
WiFi.beginSmartConfig(); while(1){ delay(1000); if(WiFi.smartConfigDone()){ Serial.println("SmartConfig Success"); break; } }
or the easier way is use library that support smartConfig function such as WiFiConnector Arduino Library: https://github.com/cmmakerclub/WiFiConnector

So got myself a smart plug. Need to use this app for the plug to work. This app will not connect to my internet through my device. then I noticed it hasn't been updated since 2005. if you have old devices it may work but DOES NOT WORK on newer devices.
absolute garbage will not work with Android 9 useless. called the help desk was on with them an hour still nothing. now have useless plugs unless i buy another phone or this app is updated to work with newer tech. why are they still selling these plugs linked to this app if it obviously doesnt work ? Amazon should be ashamed of themselves and i will be taking it up with them also
Just doesn't work. Does not pick up the ssid and does not allow manual entry. When I check permissions it reports no permissions. This would be great if it worked 😪
edit: marked down as it doesn't work with Pie (v9). Works with Galaxy S7 Edge and ESP32. Just ensure you're using 2.4GHz WiFi...
works ok. Sometimes have to do it 2 or 3 time to have the expected result. Look not working with the last android release. thanks for the creator of this nice tool.
Galaxy S8+. Pressing button 3 times, open app, provide details and just nothing. It fails every time.
Need an Android 9 update to give the correct permission. Unable to detect the SSID. Or provide the source code !
It will not recognize my ssid I have connected to 2.4g, tried 2 different networks and the ssid will not show. You were told about this 2 years ago and I have no responce
Works with ESP32-WROOM-32U. make sure WiFi network is 2.4GHz and not 5GHz. Flash the SmartConfig example in esp-idf in to ESP32, then use this app to configure the WiFi.
Unfortunately doesn't seem to work with Android 9, SSID not passed to app and no way to change it.
Unknown SSID is showing! I was able to send smart packets from Nokia 6.1 plus , after phone upgrade (redmi note 9s) app cant fetch SSID

I installed it about a year back. It was working fine. After about a months, I saw esp32 was getting disconnected. When I tried to reconnect it, I was getting failed connection response from the software, but the device was working. After Sept 2019, it completely stopped working. I got a new Esp32. Still it woul not connect.
