EtchDroid [NO ROOT] - Write ISOs and DMGs to USB

Not compatible with android 9 at all. Did test with 3 different smartphones, all running pie and all of them gave the message about it not recognizing the USB drive.. Android 9 is out there and not compatible? I will change when it turns compatible with pie /edit I saw a comment where you say you did test it using android 9.. Well, so, what now? Pen-drive is already formatted by Android system, it keep saying to remove USB and reopen the app, if I hit start icon it will close the app..

Worked till Android 12 My pixel was pushed to android 12 and i took it (i had to) and the app breaks. Cant write anything at all. I get right to the screen to select the target device and android confirms. And it freezes and crrashes. Its understandable cuz of how buggy this release is. Overall, nice app and easy to use. I just wish i can use it again.

Fantastic that I don't need to jailbreak and doesn't have ads. Took me a few restarts to get it to work due to the Android 9 issues, but following the GitHub link at the bottom of error messages shows a great catalogue of know errors and work arounds. Additionally, it's clear the developer is actively fixing the issues.

WARNING: If not enough research is conducted, you can possibly risk corrupting your usb. Tried this app while running android 8.1 on an S7, and used an OTG cable. It seemed to work fine, but after completion, the usb would not be read by anything. I tried 3 different usb sticks, the same result each time. The dev seems to be knowledgeable, just do some homework about your android version before walking into this.

Did not work. Tried using the app to make a windows 10 boot drive three different times and it failed to produce usable boot media. Each time I tried to use the created drive to boot, I was asked to select a proper boot device. Don't get your hopes up of this working.

Thank you for this. I read your blog post and I have to agree. I work in retail, and the customers have ruined it for me. Anyways, this is a fantastic app, and she to prayers! I've been looking for something I can quickly flash Linux distros to USB for friends for a long time, and I've loved the convenience. No crashes yet.

I was in dire need of a PC to make a live USB of my Linux installation ( had some important data to recover) until I came across this app on PlayStore. It saved my day, thankfully. And it does it better and faster in my opinion than many desktop alternatives.

Previously i have used this app with great success however on my most recent attempt i immediately recieve a failure after being kicked from the app with "check the notification" at the bottom of my screen. in notification area it immediately says write failed, USB must have been removed, and then Etchdroid stops responding and i receive the system prompt to close the app. hopefully a fix soon

garbage. requires external usb, thus utterly defeating the purpose of an sd card. EDIT: After testing some more, i've realized that I've been using etchdroid wrongly - yes, I think etchdroid could greatly benefit from the possibility of using the internal card as well, but using an external USB stick does work just fine. I've since used a different method of solving the issue I faced in regards as to why I installed etchdroid to begin with, but it does work. Again, though, adding support for internal cards would be greatly useful for those that may not have a USB stick ready.

heck yes!!! now i can make bootable retropie images from my mobile phone!!! this is awesome! something must have went wrong with my initial installation i uninstalled and re-installed and now have my retropie up and running!!! im about to emulate some dreamcast games!!! thank you so much for this app!!!!!

Did not work for me. Pixel 1 XL writing to a brand new SanDisk 16 GB thumb drive. Program was well written enough to alert me to a failed write after a few minutes. Never made it past about 20%. Had to use a USB C to USB adapter, and the app warns that any dongle/adapter may interfere. Saved me wasting too much time. Might be great for Chromebook? It's not like there are android phones with full sized USB ports.

WOW! After spending hours over several days trying to fix a dual boot issue I had and my only option to load an ISO to a usb stick was my Note 8... i was sure there was nothing available. Or if it was available it didn't work. TO MY SURPISE your app not only worked flawlessly to upload the ISO, but it really worked! my computer is fixed and I'm totally impressed! screw buying you a coffee, where do I deliver the keg??

Nice app, it did it's job but a problem is that it is running in background with that notification and on some phones that are aggressively optimising the battery are pausing the app multiple times unless I keep the app open or I do some tweaks about battery optimisation. Most of the people don't know this and time is lost. If there was a button or something to ask if I want to run the app in the background with a notification or if I wanted to keep it on would be great.

I just used this app on Android Pie (Note 9), and yes there are compatibility issues, meaning that I had to give it a few tries by rebooting the phone once and removing/reinserting the USB drive via the OTG adapter, but it finally worked, and it worked faster than my old laptop on which I'm trying to install Linux Mint. Thank you very much!

Very good in Android 8 but not so in android9 I was using etchdroid for almost 3months , i was really happy and surprised with this superb app until i updated my android ,from then i am not being able to flash .iso app constantly crashing , failing to write iso file .,kindly fix this mate. Hope you give a better update fixing these bugs. Thankyou

Worked 100%.Tested: Samsung note 9, android 9, linux mint cinnamon. Solution: flight mode, open etchdroid, pick the iso, pick the usb drive, write to usb, finished writing, ignore "issue with usb drive" or any, plug out usb drive, done. Duration: 3:34min. No permissions, no ads, super fast. Big thank you to the Author! Regards from Europe!

Works like a charm! The only very minor problem is when I turn on dark. mode the app lags. But overall the app is really great and also the burning process is fast

This app has been the most dependable, reliable, and overall the biggest help when it comes to making an bootable, working OS bootable USB , hands down. I have had no issues nor problems what so ever and have used it to create 20 plus bootable usb disk and still counting. I will be donating very soon. No app has ever demanded my respect so far as this app does. Well done,, well done...

Lifesaver!!!! I usually don't rate apps but it saved my life. I installed a dual boot system with windows and Linux, and I messed up MBR (Master boot record) and was unable to open windows and Linux GUI was not working. Pc was like a box of metal. I have to flash system recovery to an USB to fix MBR I tried with other apps but didn't work, and also my USB was ext format still it flashed it without any problems! Great work Developers keep making this kind of apps

Hard to see font, dark text on dark background, but if you can manage to read the menu options that you're selecting, then it does the job. In my case the only computer I had stopped booting, and I was unprepared and had no boot repair disk for it (this was for Ubuntu). This app has allowed me to put an Ubuntu image onto a flash drive in order to repair the system without having to spend 229$ for a second laptop that would have done the same exact job that this app did for free from my phone.

Update s10 rooted on android 10 works 1st time, perfectly - The only 1 that makes a boot USB for arch time after time. Yes you have to restart sometimes but I fine if you don't touch the phone at all but make sure the screen stays on it work. Latest version total tail v1.3.3 from github work strait away

Amazing! Works great if you have a microUSB to USB and a spare flash drive. If you want to root your phone, you can do an SD to USB Conversion. Either way, works perfect!

Works just as it should! +Maybe even faster than flashing on a PC, yet remaining reliable... Would definitely recommend this to those who lack a PC to create an installation media for their only existing empty PC that has no OS, but yet still have an Android device with OTG support & a pendrive... App literally saved my laptop! I lost my Bitlocker recovery key (didn't save it to MSA) and needed to reinstall, but had no other devices to create the install media from. Thankfully, this app wrote the ISO to my flash drive using a USB-C dongle with no problems!

I expected the app to create a BOOTABLE USB. It did not. Used an ISO from Microsoft. It copied the files but when trying multiple sticks to two PCs it just doesn't boot. There are only two options to choose from in the app so I do not know if there are other required configurations or how the other reviewers really made it work.
