ev.energy - smart EV charging

Had no missed calls unfortunately. Car not hibernating. Have since switched to using the cars default delay functionality to start the charge at 00:00 when my cheap night rate starts as this app can't make it do that - we've tried everything suggested via support and have given up. I can't get the perks of the app such as points earned etc, but I have cheap night charging by bypassing this app so I'll take it as a 'best I'm going to get' scenario, the stress of a flat car wasn't worth it :(

Helping save the planet and regularly getting Amazon vouchers back without having to lift a finger once it's set up - why wouldn't you do it? Now my dumb charger is smart and routinely charges during our tariff's off-peak period. Top-up charges just work immediately too if needed without having to fiddle with any app settings either, by just telling the car to charge now rather than the usual delayed overnight charge. For me it just works reliably in the background. Perfect!

Not very user friendly You cannot tell the app / charger when you want to charge, there is no timeswitch facility. It decides when and if it will charge. Some times you come to the car and it hasn't charged. It trys to work with your electricity 'deal', so charges on the cheap rate, however, that 4hrs may not be enough to fully charge your car, but you cannot tell it to keep charging after using the cheap rate

App is somewhat improved. I like the rewards I have Amazon vouchers 👍. However, I tell the app only to charge at off peak times, yet it still charges at peak times. Sort it out !! Very annoying. I have to manually plug in at off-peak times now as the app doesn't do what it should do.

Installed this app because the 'mysmartcharge' beta app by Shell had finished and the replacement currently doesn't allow for scheduling. The app talks to my car (ipace) rather than my charge point (Shell Newmotion) and so far this app has worked without issue and charges to my off peak octopus go tariff times. Just be sure to spend time inputting the correct info and tariff. App is a little buggy at times & be good to see the option to talk to my chargepoint in future. Definitely Recommend B+

Since the update 5hr ago.it doesn't allow me to enter smart charge settings - message = Ooops there's an error. The tariff use wasn't listed and I submitted it to EV Energy, many weeks later no news. Scheduled connectivity with this App seems hit and miss. Not impressed so far! The tariff is now listed, the notification went into my junk folder. I've applied the tariff and error resolved. 12/3/22 No issues since you've resolved the problem.

With the latest update I can no longer charge my car without smart charge function on which I do not want. Please fix this bug. I am now a slave to the schedule. I want to plug in and go. It was fine before. Please help,

The app is a good idea but the reward system is not very clear at times. When I moved to a new supplier my account became frozen when the new igloo account was started...... It's now Feb 2022 and I am with Octopus Go which is excellent. The EV app has been working fine and they still offer rewards as an incentive. The smart charging has been stable and reliable for the last 2 years so I have up rated my review. There are not as many reward options as I would like but at least they're still there

Every update loses car and now won't even find the make and model of charger. Was spot on but now my car charges peak no matter what. Hope updates sort it. Also makes scheduling a journey mandatory, I don't want that every week. Tesla model 3 and Indra Smart Pro by the way

Worst app in the world. It doesn't work. I spent 3 hours to open an account and it is just a night mare. Shell and BPpulse is much better you can create an account in one click and charge straight away. It is not the case with EV Energy.

A good system and I am veey pleased with the cost saving. If a problem occurs, feedback is also good.

One of the few app to measure your charging power and optimise charging process. Impressive customer service. Just wish they had more tariff and charger in their database :)

Firsty, would much prefer to set charging times myself so i know its going to work but thats not an option. Worked well to start off with but it caused problems with my car. Have to leave smart charging off as it causes problems with charging and the cars app. Tech support are helpful but sometimes you just want to speak to someone. Disappointed i paid for a smart charger and have to keep "smart" options disbaled for it to work.

Worked fine until the update that was last done in January around the 26th I believe. Ever since it constantly crashes or turns my charger off Apparently the engineering team are working on this however this seems to be taking forever

Would not set up to use our economy 7 instead of starting at 12.30 started at 11 and could not be stopped. Could find no way of changing the charge time even though it was set to finish at 6am for a 4 hour charge. Had to remove to get control of car back. Like the idea though but needs more user program control. Since removing the app our car has been possessed. Every day it deletes its settings and programming and creates its own random set up.

Not the best, somehow have managed to add my vehicle twice and now boost function doesn't work. Also just didn't charge last night leaving me with not enough charge to get to work. Worried the same will happen tonight

Doesn't work properly. Shows as not charging when it is changing, doesn't show recent charges (but it shows from a few weeks ago). Used to be okay a few weeks ago but now nothing. Could really do with some security to stop other users taking electricity too. Update: now doesn't see the car is connected. Still charges, but the app is hopeless. Just like the support.

There's something fundamentally wrong with the way this interacts with Rolec units. My car is probably not alone in not tolerating something else controlling power so any attempt to use the so-called Smart Charge mode results in the car flashing three lights (meaning error of some sort) and giving up up. As long as I switch "Smart" off can use the car's timer but unfortunately "Smart" seems to revetr to on. The stats don't collect anything apart from my initial five minute test. The other stuff is just fluff. The ONLY thing I would want is remote control which you've guessed it isn't present though fiddling with the smart feature and timings could sort of effect the same if only the thing stayed connected which it doesn't.

I like this app, it shows my charging usage and the cost over 24 hours, a month or a year. It allows me to set the time my car charges which if you have a new ev electricity tariff you'll need it! It also let's you boost charge which you can do anytime. Occasionally I have to log out and back in again to make it realise I've plugged the car in. That's the only reason I've gone for 4 stars. A good little app!

Works fantastically well with our Tesla even when we were on variable pricing through the evening on Agile. Turned it on and off several times to catch the cheapest periods. A lot easier now on Go Faster. More recently also been linked to our BMW i3S and controls that automatically as well. Always reliable, set it and forget it, it just does it's job!

The system is more complicated than I need but I've come to terms with it. I would like to be able to set charging times according to my Economy 7 timings without having to specify a supplier/tariff and without setting an arbitrary "ready by" time (I don't use my car to a regular schedule). All I need is to set an on time and an off time and to have an override if i need to charge at other times. But it works, so I live with it.

Excellent app that allows me to make the most from my Octopus GO overnight low-rate tariff (and also minimises the amount of carbon when charging by finessing the timing). There have been a one or two minor issues, but the developers are responsive and sorted them out very quickly. Truly an outstanding app, so much so that I sent my so-called 'smart charging cable' back as this does the job so much better. And they send you Starbucks coffee vouchers if you use it ... so what's not to like!? :-)

Rarely works with my Rolec wall charger, - registers charge session times and electricity used incorrectly, & misses some sessions entirely. rarely knows if the car is plugged in or not, despite showing that the data has just been updated. Emailed tech support weeks ago and heard nothing back. Had I known this would be the user experience would have gone and got a Zappi

Keep getting data error message and the support is useless

Early days I suspect for the app, it's entry level for what you'd expect. The lack of being able to drill down into your data beyond 1 day, 30 day and 365 day graphs is frustrating. An export of daily stats would be good. Also, someone used my charger today whilst I was at work. Would be rather nice if a smart charger could restrict to known cars!

Brilliant for a year now useless lately. I used this app for just over a year and it was just what I needed. After BST change everything went sideways. My tariff did not updated and therefore my bill doubled. The support tried to fix it multiple times but no success. I ended up removing the app as it cost me more money then is saves at its current state. Very disappointing. UPDATE: Support set a custom tariff which serve as a temporary fix. When my usual tariff is sorted it will be 5☆

Setup is difficult, it only works with the email address that the installer used, what do I do if I want to use a different address, or if I sell the house? I'm on economy 7 and my car is already set to charge during the off-peak rate. This app cannot save me any money. All it does is make pre-conditioning less convenient as I now have to use two apps if I want to heat the car using mains power during the day. Finally, the app is the only way to use the system, no web interface at all.
