I definitely prefer it to the native gallery app. I was using Quickpics for a time, and though that app is defunct now, there was one feature it had that I can't find in F Stop, unless I'm missing it. When editing a photo, cropping it, etc... Quickpic had an option to keep the edited version next to the original, rather than moving it to the top of list for lists already sorted by date. Effectively it let the edited photo keep the same date and position. I really miss this organization feature.
Very good app. Its ability to easily connect to my Linux network is invaluable to me. It treats its drives as if they're right on the device. This makes viewing and deleting my plethora of photos super easy. I do have complaints, though. Its inability to rename network files inline is one. You're viewing a network image and want to rename it; you have to close it, locate it among all the other images in that directory in gallery mode, long-press it, *then* you're given a rename option. This is tough when you have many similar photos! Similarly, you're not able to edit a file directly on a network drive; your only choice is to download it, edit it locally, then replace the original with the edited version. This is a BIG problem when working with thousands of images. I hope the developer fixes these problems soon. Once done I'll gladly give it 5 stars.
Tried a bunch of gallery apps, this is the only one MUCH better and more powerful than the stock gallery. Also, no ads or privacy concerns like some others. So after a year of use I bought the full version, now I can disable what I don't need, and use the extra functions. I'm not a cloud user, but it manages the thousands of pics on my phone with no problems. Great customization, plenty of options, zoom levels as they should be, smooth operation. It just works and gets out of the way. Cheers!
So far a good app, that has a folder view. Please add an option that can be enabled that will keep camera and/or screenshot folders at top no matter the sort order of folders. Also, I noticed it is unable to remove the files clip art of removed files, they still show up with an x on them and they need to be removed manually. Seems it should automatically figure this out. Thanks keep up the good work.
First, let me say that I rarely write software reviews. I am an avid photographer with a large photo collection. I have a nice collection of Windows based software to manage and view my photos on my PC but wanted a similar way to view them on my Android phone (Galaxy S9). My entire collection is organized using tags (IPTC/XMP) data. There are very few photo viewer / management apps that have the ability to read and/or modify this data. F-Stop has very strong support for this feature in conjunction a very well-designed interface for standard photo viewing functions. I truly couldn't be more pleased with this app. Well, well done.
I used the free version for awhile and decided to go for the pro. This was a bad idea! I rated a lot of photos in the free version, but after the upgrade I lost 99% of the ratings. This was a big bummer. The developer told that the ratings are stored in a database and not in the metadata. When the program cannot find a photo, all the info is deleted from the database! (dangerous) The option in the pro version of nested folders is not as good as I hoped for. I prefer to use a good file explorer.
I have just loaded this app and initially spent the afternoon seeing what the free version was able to do. It is great, easy to use, easy to edit photos and pictures. Very quick and simple. I went to the Pro version and my what a difference, more themes, more choices, still running the same smooth interface as the free version. N.B As soon as I paid for the Pro version it went wrong. Refund requested. It turns out that the free app works better than the paid for Pro version!!! Not impressed
This app has potential, but a huge feature is dropped for me. For some reason, I can only tag jpg files. Other files are enabled if I turn on sidecars, but I don't want to do that, as they can easily be lost. I've written to support and on the forums about this, currently waiting for a response. Would definitely change my rating if this gets fixed!
If you are still looking for a Photo App to replace QuickPic this is it and it does so much more. I have over 70,000 photos and 400+ Folders and it's handling all of it. Plus much more types of Files, Tags, Places, Types and my Favorite is Custom Sorting. I will update later once I have a better idea of how it's going to work out. But so far I'm extremely excited about the App. Thank You Samsung Galaxy Note 8 user. Question, I would like to go back to Folder I was last using instead of the List?
As an avid user of photos and videos on my cell phones I've been struggling with galleries and viewers for years. I downloaded the free version of F-stop and saw that it would do what I needed on a new phone. Once I purchased the Pro pack I realized that this is a spectacular gallery software. The difference between free and pro, paid version, is awesome! I really like it.
UPDATE: Apparently they never received my first email. I sent another and got a prompt response. Goran was able to resolve my issue in a few hours. I use this app to organize and tag my thousands of photos and it works great for that. It was definitely worth paying for the pro version for me. ------------------------ This is a 5-star app with 1-star customer service. I recently transferred my photos from a phone with an SD card to a new phone without an SD card. I backed up my tags and prepared the files for folder migration. When I restored from the backup, only about half of my tags were restored (I'm missing about 5,000). I emailed tech support about it over a week ago and haven't received a response. I'll be happy to revise my review if I can get help with this issue.
Was looking for a gallery app that would allow me to have sub folders and create simple albums like a "trip" folder. Which could then be filled with multiple sub folders on places we've been. I'm finally able to do that with F-stop. My only issue with this app is folders created in the album tab aren't manually updated when you delete or add more photos to your main folders. So you constantly have to re add photos to your album's subfolders to keep them updated. Fix that and it would be perfect!
There are several similarly very good images viewers. What set this one apart for me enough to buy it was it's Nested folders feature. You select favorites folders-that's where you allways start now. Then you can browser them like you do with regular file manager, but only images are displayed. This way you are not confined to the Android gallery system. It's useful if you needed it.
This is not the fastest gallery app, but i believe the tradeoff for this is that you see a better quality image rendered. The images, especially images that are not photos such as graphic wallpapers, lack any of the artifacts or banding I've seen in most other gallery apps. This is also apparent when setting an image as a wallpaper. For some reason, there is a degredation of quality when setting wallpapers with most gallery apps on android, but not with F-Stop.
After upgraded to Pro version, all the folders still taking approximately 15 seconds to appear on the startup, the folders section will only show a blank black screen during the waiting period. Also, how do I sort all images uniquely in different folder, there are some folders that I wish to sort by ascending names, while others in descending "Date taken, modified". I saw this feature being advertised in the pro version ad when I'm using the free version, but now it didn't work out as intended.
Pro: lots of features. Not so pro: basic usage is a bit awkward. Why are there no toolbar buttons to switch between thumbnail & list view, or display basic details? Thumbnails are useless for videos. Simple Gallery shows how it's done. Deleting all tags on multiple files requires the circuitous route. File details in fullscreen view are illegible on bright images. The app has no memory, i.e. always returns to folder view regardless what was last displayed, after running in background a while...
Great app and happy to upgrade to Pro even though the basic version met every need I had. Question for devs: I often use this to Slideshow a folder of pictures but randomized. I'm planning on adding to the filename "Portrait" or "Landscape" and would like to filter images by that text and then slideshow that result. Can this be done with the Pro version in some way? Perform a slideshow based on a filter result. Thanks for the answer and the great app!
The closest I could find to cameraroll on iphone. Shame you can't swipe left or right during videos. It also can't play .mov. EDIT - Also the controls for the video kind of clumsy with a Samsung S10 sideways (the play button stays behind the samsung 3 buttons control). One last thing is the fact that if you put a video sideways it will automatically restart while playing
Nice gallery, but can't replace QuickPic. It feels heavy. I can't rotate picture like in QuickPic, just zoom in 2018. Can't backup pictures to cloud (but this is not a terrible problem for gallery app, but QuickPic have this option). Tags is good. This is the selling point for me. But it is hard to switch now only for this 1 feature.
I've been using this paid version for the nested files feature to read a manga in image format but it does... everything I can think of. tags, sorting, file info editing, It works exactly as needed so far (and then some.) it's awesome to sort through my HUGE folders (the manga is like 8 thousand pages in 40 subfolders) and honestly that's Quite A Feat lol. anyway, it's absolutely worth the money if you like the free version :D
I love this app and would give 5 star rating if selecting the Folder Thumbnail was as convenient as your other less pricey app Gallery EZ. You can only select a Folder Thumbnail from a photo within that folder whereas you should be allowed to select any photo in your phone as it's thumbnail. I am sure it is not a big deal to introduce that feature as I like keep a photo folder on my phone that has collection of all my thumbnail icons.
Nice easy full featured app. Picture rendering good. Only had one issue with the size of user data on disk suddenly growing to 500 meg. Not sure what caused this, but only way to get back storage space was delete cache & data. Of course had to then set up user preferences again. I did decide to buy program as still decided it was a great app.
Great app and all but having the pro key app stuck in my app drawer is a little annoying. (EDIT: Sorry, I have no idea how I missed that option. And you're right. Two stars is a bit much but I figured you would probably respond and that I would change my review.)
I like the app... Obviously i paid for it... But for quite awhile now every picture that I've edited with Google photos appears distorted when opened with this app. I dunno what the issue is but it's starting to make me look for another alternative. I've tried deleting clearing and reinstalling multiple times, I've even tried different phones.
I needed looping video and thought "surely this amazing, powerful photo app I bought, regarded as one of the top galleries on Android, has something as basic as looping video". And then it didn't... There also isn't any way to view photos by filtering with more than one tag at a time, so tagging is pointless. I'm stuck using multiple gallery apps for basic features I need, and I thought Fstop was the cure, but I guess the struggle continues.
Very good set of features although it can feel cluttered. I don't like the thumbnails when viewing galleries. Only thing I found lacking was ability to edit date when the photos were taken which is needed for organizing digitized photos. So I need to use one app for setting the date then fstop for the description.
F-Stop's a lot more sensible than Android's Gallery and most of the other alternatives out there. I need effective photo organisation more than over-the-top presentation effects! It's not exactly intuitive - but the developers are being incredibly helpful in terms of making it easier to use. Will update again if/when I learn any good tips!
