FairEmail - open source, privacy oriented email

Just what I'd been looking for. Good security features and quite informative as well. And a feature I have not seen in other mobile apps and was hoping to find: you can inspect the message headers (though not the full source). I would say the best solution I've seen for a security-conscious geek like me. Worth getting the full featured version for a modest one-time contribution. Low battery usage. No ads! Good work! 👍 PS a calendar with caldav support to go with it would be just great...

Good set of features and options, nice interface, fair performance, very lightweight. I'm a former Maildroid user, and was always unsatisfied with its interface and performance, which only got worse with time. Less than an hour was all it took for me to fall in love with FairEmail and pay for the optional Pro features - i dont even need them, but the Dev deserves the money.

Had a bug with my android 5 phone and contacted Marcel. The app was crashing because of my Avast Password Manager app. On disabling it everything went back to normal. And love the app has no ads, that would be а deal breaker for me. Very happy and great support. Thanks again! Just contacted Marcel again cos pb setting up my work email. He replied in 5min and was spot on. What an great developper.

Super easy to set up. Even in you dont pay, you get everything you need. No adds. If it is all set up, itnis running smoothly and it's look and how everything is placed and organized is very intuitive. And the safty standards are high. It is more than just the spam filter. You have so many options to adjust it to your needs. Even within a mail the app tries it's best to keep you safe. I really hope the service will come back?

Perhaps the configuration is a bit cumbersome for the "install, next, next" user. But for nerds who manage their own mail server, FairEmail is the perfect client. I appreciate being able to set everything in a very granular way down to the last detail. The app proved to be reliable and stable. Congratulations to the developers for their excellent work!

Developer was very responsive when I had an issue. The app supports nearly every feature I wanted, and some that I didn't know I wanted. I love the control that the app enables... as another reviewer mentioned, it's great to be able to control the level to which you render the message (no images vs. non-tracking images vs. full rendering of the email). I'm pretty sure that the only feature I miss is being able to assign distinct notifications per account, but I'm 99% happy with this app!

Probably the best open-source email app for Android. It's very feature-rich and customizable. It's a diamond in the rough, however, that takes some time to setup. The initial setup routine and the settings area in general feel somewhat overwhelming and cluttered even to a tech-savvy person. The developer is very responsive and open to suggestions. If the user interface just becomes a bit more coherent, it will absolutely perfect. Give it a try!

Best email client app for Android users that I have used, and I have used a lot over the years. It is highly configurable but just as easy to use with default settings. No constant ads. Purchased the one off upgrade because of the security and reliability, and want the app to continue its development and support if and when I need it. Excellent software. The app provides detailed info about what happens behind scenes, with excellent immediate support when you need it, which is not very often.

Have been using the Pro version for quite a while and I love it. Have tried several and this app is by far the best. There does seems to be a new bug in a recent release. I use the compact view, name only - but the spam folder now displays name and email. All other folders correctly display name only. This is recent. For me, it makes it harder to skim the spam folder with the long email addresses included. It is only the spam folder that looks like this - if I move a message to different folders, only the spam folder shows the name and email address. (EDIT) - Corrected in later release - Yay!

Best mobile email client out there. The amount of customization options and control you get is insane. But one thing: The combined inbox is good most of the time. But if I only want to check a single inbox and get back after it, you have to click through a few steps every time. The way how Gmail does that is more convenient imo.

Initially uninstalled after first using it. However, after reinstalling and taking time to go through the settings, I went for the paid version. Highly configurable and does everything I need. Great app. Update: After problems receiving mail, (not apps fault), I contacted Marcel. Replied in minutes and very helpful. Can't recommend highly enough.

Finally, a Genuine Configurable Email App - This app is impressive, fully configurable and not trying to "shift my paradigm" and do it their way (Spark, you know you do). Plus Fair offers the standard features you need, including message receipt, full headers with an engine that does the hard work. BTW it's fast, really fast. Don't get lost in the configuration details, set it up and tune it to your liking as you go. Encryption, yes (sorry alfa-G) . I'm impressed.

Best email app by far. No other app comes close to it and I've tried a lot of them. It might look a bit complicated at first, but once you have it configured it just works. The app is actively maintained and bugs are fixed quickly. The dev is also very helpful and responsive. If you have any problems or requests, he'll get back to you within hours if not minutes. Can't get much better than this. Install this app and be done with it! The pro version adds very powerful features and truly is a must

I went from using Sony's email app to Gmail when upgrading to the Pixel 6 Pro. I never realised how featureless the Gmail app is until I had to use it. After a bit of searching around, I came across Fairemail. Well colour me impressed. This app has everything you could ever need! It may be overwhelming when going through all the settings but you really don't need to do that after you run the Wizard to set up your accounts. Update: 10/10 have purchased the Pro version after using for a few months

I use an email client for my security camera alarm and pictures. My other email client did not let me do a select all and delete. I had to go through anywhere between 50 to 100 messages and delete them one at a time. This does a select all and delete and I very pleased with this and other features, this is a great app.

The finest email client you can currently own for Android. In regard to options for those intimidated by an excessive availability of choice, just accept and go back and fine tune at your leisure. The way in which those options are presented are simply a breath of fresh air compared to mainstream host such as Gmail or Outlook. This app has no peer. None.

By far the best email app out there. Designed with security in mind, it is very customisable and reliable once you have got to grips with it. Well worth the small cost of upgrading of only to support the developer who is on hand almost instantly to help out with any questions and problems.

Excellent job, thank you Marcel, I signed up immediately for pro features (which like all good apps aren't necessary but are nice). In case you (or anyone else reads), one thing I got stuck on was how to *EDIT EXISTING RULES*. Either read the docs - or: 1. Open hamburger menu 2. Single tap on a mailbox 3. Long tap on a folder (inbox etc) = Lots of new options and settings inc edit rules, notifications, subfolders etc. (MB Q Findability increase if step 3 is a short tap and/or choice?)

Just start using this app. Had an issue and contacted support and they were very quick to respond and with several emails we/they got my issue resolved. Too soon for me to rate the app but I will say it has so many settings that it appears to be adaptable to most anything you need it to do & appears to be compatible will most email servers.

This is the best email client for Android that I have used so far, and I've tried several. It's easy to use (although, unlike me, some people may prefer a "prettier" UI), has extensive configuration options and is as secure as it can be. On top of that the support is second to none. I rarely purchase apps for Android but I've made an exception in this case. Keep up the good work.

Great email client, better than Gmail. I paid for the pro features to support the developer and its only one time purchase. I believe it is important to support independent developers in this world of greedy corps who doesn't care about your privacy. The app has been great to use and the UI looks nice enough. I like the privacy features that is build in and the free version is good enough for everyday use. I decided to give it a five star rating because of the great customer service :)

So far the experience is orders of magnitude more helpful than the Google email client that comes with the Pixel phone. The application is extensively customizable and privacy oriented. I love it so far! What got me looking for an alternative email client was that the Google email client keeps having issues with Hotmail, which makes accessing my email from my phone problematic. No such issues with FairEmail. The developers seem to know how to follow the pop3 protocol making for reliability.

Simply a work of Art.! Thank you Marcel. I live in my email all day and I have tried every email client over the years all with varying success. This app has gotten better and better over time and is now the best IMO. And I hammer my email hard and spend a lot of time tweaking it. Highly recommend FairEmail.

Not user friendly. I see comments that it could be too complicated for many, but when you go through all the settings, it's great. But I don't find the settings any more user-friendly than the UI. More options doesn't equal better program. There's a point when there are too many, & FE passed it pages ago. It's maybe that I'm an infrequent user, so coming to it from Thunderbird on my PC is weird. Couldn't find how to reply, looked at every icon & menu for ages. Its not there. One floating button!

After having used FairEmail for a good few months now, I can honestly say that it is by far the best email app I have used (and I tried a few). In addition to being open-source and privacy focussed (my main reasons to swap to FairEmail), it offers a wide range of settings which are very useful, including S/MIME and PGP support among other things. I would love to award an additional star for the amazing customer support (found a small potential bug, reported it, developer responded within minutes, resolved issue in less than two hours!). Highly recommended!

FairEmail is a wonderful email app. Having recently read about the app in a forum I read, I figured I'd check it out, especially after reading the reviews in the Play Store. After installing the app, it took less than a minute to have FairEmail up and running after I entered the needed info. Once it was running, I stayed away from customizing it as I wanted to get a feel for the new email app look. The app is very, very customizable. I'm now in my 3rd day using the app. Gmail on my Galaxy S22 Plus has been stopped, so FairEmail is my default email app. I've learned more and more about the many, many customizable features. For those users who just want an out-of-the-box app, well there really is no need to customize if you don't want to, because right after installing the app it is usable. Of course, exploring some of the features, formatting text for example, brings added benefits. I would highly recommend this app to friend or foe. In fact, I'm tactfully suggesting to my wife, a non-techie, leave me alone-I'm happy with what I have person, that she starts using this app instead of the Gmail app on her Flip 3. Two other things: 1. After installing the app I had a question about synchronizing. I emailed Marcel, the developer. Being in the US, I didn't expect a reply for a day or two. Within 10 minutes my questions were answered. Unbelievable! 2. There is a Pro version. The cost is about $7 USD. This is not a yearly subscription fee but a one-time charge. The Pro version is not needed because so many of the features are in the free version. My point is to not be scared away because of the Pro version. And now to the final question. Can I get my wife to switch over to FairEmail? Hmm, this could be the next Nextflix hit! 😄 Seriously, give it a try. If I'm recommending it to my wife, obviously I like the app.

Very full featured, secure email app. Links to it's own secure Chrome based browser or your default browser. Excellent customer service with usually same day email replies from the developer/programmer. A little complicated because of all of the options, but works very well.

I'm not exactly a power user or security savvy so I've not tweaked FairEmail substantially. Despite that I'm impressed and reassured by the amount of options available to me within the app. The security options are pretty intuitive too and it feels good that by default it limits data in emails from unknown senders. And the options are never really in the way either even if there are more buttons and longer menus. If you don't want to use them you can ignore them. Quality app.

Marcel to the rescue again after new phone! A few years ago the email I had for ages stopped working (Verizon issue). I had to find a great new mail app. Being picky, it took many tries until FairEmail! Lol, there are so many variables to personalize -like swiping to the right if it's spam and My choices for everything & colors too. I had some tech issues and Marcel, dev. wrote back instantly! Such an Excellent Email app. Had to export this time & CS still superb as before! Very Best App👍🏻!
