Don't really get the negative feedback. I've been using the app and the chrome extension (which is the best btw) for years and they've always worked well for me. We do a ton of shopping on Amazon, so I appreciate the service that Fakespot provides.
Helpful app. But processing/wait time is entirely too long, no matter if it is analyzing 112, 1800 or 7000 reviews of an item, it is unacceptably too long. And you cannot leave the 'analyzing' screen to do, or look, at anything else on your phone or computer, while you wait.
Just downloaded and am already pleased. I just weeded out my shopping cart on Amazon and it's scary how many fake reviews there are. Most of the bad reviews for this app are from people who don't understand how algorithms and technology works and are just too impatient to let the app do it's thing. It does take a bit but I'd recommend watching TV or something while online shopping so you aren't bored while waiting.
Either I'm doing something wrong or it is not working read how then tried it on 4 sites including bookruns, thrift books, second sale, and Amazo. It said not supported on all 4. Great idea may be if it worked I would think about keeping it but for now I'll stick to using my brain and going through the reviews. God bless you.
It does nothing. It shows you directions on how to use it but it's not functional because nothing else opens up other than the directions. I tried installing and uninstalling two different times to see if I'd get different results. In the end I just uninstalled it because it was nothing more than an icon on my screen.
People are not reading the instructions, the app does not work by clicking on it you need to be on Amazon and click the share button and it will be in the options to share and then it goes to the app to analyze. It's really nice to have something break down the reviews like it does. Some have been analyzed already and some you need to hit the analyze button. It grades A thru F and then it is up to you. Just pointing out this info because the more people use it seems the better it will work.
The website is great; the app sucks. Have to keep it in the foreground for it to work. As soon as you pop back onto your browser to continue looking it closes and loses It's analysing progress. Stick with the site.
The only app out here that truly has your back! I'd seen it before but now that I have it d/l in my phone and tablet, I use it every time I go on Amazon. I'm usually pretty good at deciphering fake reviews but this is really the icing on the cake! Those of you giving this low marks need to run the tutorial and LEARN HOW IT WORKS!
This is very exciting, and I look forward to this tech developing and improving. With Covid-19, I've started shopping online more, cautiously, and noticed the often unreliability of reviews and ratings. I hope Amazon and other companies start to employ this technology in fighting against inflated ratings. Ratings used to be very helpful but are now flooded with fakes. Great job! And easy to use. Hang in there Fakespot, don't sell out, and keep improving this. We all need it!
I use Fakespot in my browser and love it, it's very helpful! Unfortunately though i downloaded the app on my S20 Plus to analyze play store reviews after finding some terrible apps have impossibly good ratings, and it won't actually do that. I will redownload in the future if they add that capability.
It didn't work with Android. I read tutorial info then tried to search. When I select the 3-dots to start search, it gave me the option to see tutorial again or cancel. Never provided the opening screen. For that reason It's a two thumbs down app.
I got the app just to see what was removed from the Apple app store and this is secure. Jeff Bezos is as stupid as he looks. When you click share it only give this app the link. 100% Safe - Trust a real hacker (I'm a white hat). Although, I gave this app 5 stars; because it was wrongfully removed from the app store and has a very nice design. At the time of this review it was still in BETA and does need some improvements. I recommend a textbox to paste a link and back button < on the top left.
Like the idea and use the website for all my Amazon purchases. But the app, ugh, it's PAINFULLY SLOW when analyzing. The website can take a minute or so if there are lots of reviews, but this app just churns, regardless of how many reviews there are. So frustrating...
This service is awesome! Of course, I actually read the tutorial and know that I need to use the share feature of the browser or Amazon app. And that the app wasn't made to directly enter products into. Just share the product page with the app! So simple. Thanks devs!
Although there have been glitches- here and there in the few years I have had the app (like any app) I still rely on it and trust its opinion for any major and several minor Amazon Purchases. Amazon has lost control of their reviews. The fact I get sent products I didn't buy (nor want) as part of their sellers fake review schemes is one example. I have never had an iPhone and removal from ios has solidified me from ever wanting one. Google- DO NOT cave to Amazon and keep this app forever.
Doesn't work - on new products that it hasn't analysed before, the app will say it's scanning, then when you return to the app a few minutes later, it will have completely forgotten about the scan. The website is 5* though.
This app is amazing. Lightning fast results and saved me the headache of buying falsely rated products on Amazon. If you have ever bought a product that you thought would be amazing, only to find out that it was a step up from trash - this app is for you!
I figured I would leave a review before I delete this stupid app, it's absolutely useless once you install the app it walks you through a tutorial and dumps you off on a page that says you haven't searched anything yet.... you can't add anything to it to be searched. Pointless, useless, and a waste of time....
I've been using fakespot for a long time, This app/site has never failed me. When I'm looking for something unpopular like heated jackets last year, it seemed like each one had an F or D rating, I did eventually find one with an A and It's been a great jacket. Looking at popular items I find a lot more As and Bs, from what I understand the grades are for the company as a whole but I focus more on the adjusted star rat ing after fakes are removed. The anaylis time is long but it's ok.
This app is not perfect, but if it scares Amazon into getting it kicked off the Apple Store, it must be worth using. I do check any purchases I make from Amazon with FakeSpot first, and I won't buy anything with score worse than a "B." If Amazon gets Fakespot kicked off the Play Store, too, I will just stop using Amazon at all. This is a stupid move, Amazon! Fakespot is the only reason I can trust anything I buy there at all, and I don't trust Amazon for buying much from anymore, already.
Very cool and I verified it works. I've been getting paid to review free products that the company PayPals to me to buy on Amazon... Randomly started when I reached out to the company after a sheet of paper that came with the product said I had won a 2nd one for free. Basically, they give you money to buy and then extra money for a 5 star review. I've made enough to go to Starbucks 😋... This app gives that company a very deceptive rating. I wish Amazon would buy these guys and integrate it.
Would be nice for the app to cover Trustpilot which I wanted to test as recently I've seen glowing reviews for a cheap rebranded electrical product company where all other sites that are not so well known such as electrical installers wouldn't touch them with a bargepole. I've had one of those products that lasted little over a few months. Other people have reported things from exploding oven doors to simply not working... One year on - still doesn't work...
Great app. I always run it against customer reviews on several different vendors sites that have a system for identifying verified purchases (e.g., BestBuy and Amazon). My opinion: Amazon has more fake positive reviews from unverified purchasers than any other online store, but some of those reviewers are funded by competitors who want to destroy another seller's credibility. In other words, competitors know about this app, and they're using click farms to skew the results.
Great concept but app needs improvement. Slow analysis time. Doesn't pick up correct content for description, comments, ratings etc. Rates some products with fake ratings as trustworthy. Would be nice to see brands like Amazon, eBay, Kijiji and all online retailers incorporate this kind of "trust validation" functionality into their apps & websites.
I had no idea how much faking was going on in this area but this has certainly opened my eyes. After finding out about it & downloading it to try out, it's helped me avoid loads of very dodgy amazon purchases after dozens/hundreds of reviews were exposed as 80%-95% fake! Plus I recently reported a company to Rip Off Britain and at the same time told them about Fakespot - they were intrigued and grateful for my take on this app which I think is brilliant. Wouldn't be without it now!
Brilliantly simple to use, I wish more apps were this clean and easy. I've been using the website since I heard of it, so I'm glad to see there's an app. Always nice to have a second opinion when online shopping, would highly recommend if you're an Amazon shopper.
App works but everything i enter needs to be " reanalyzed" which takes forever . On products i used that work great this app claims it was a D or F when i know the reviews are real. My phone also started shutting off randomly and kept saying the charger was wet after it was installed malware maybe ? I uninstalled and my phone stop shutting off highly suspect....
The app itself is great, and has helped me sniff out sketchy practices on amazon. However, Fakespot itself seems to be getting into scams as well, this time hopping on the NFT bandwagon with a "NFT Guard". So much like how I used fakespot to avoid scams, I'll avoid fakespot and their support for shams.
App works great its a little hard to use in the beginning but once i figured out to share products to it though apps like Amazon i literally download it on every new phone I get because i can't trust these Amazon review these days
Just not a good app. The scan takes such a long time, which would be fair enough, but this app makes you sit there and wait for the scan to complete (could be minutes long), and if you go to another app in the meantime you instantly abort the scan. App has no interface or functionality of its own. Copying and pasting the product links into their website manually through a browser is literally the better option over using the app. Just poor, period. No point to its existence.
