Families uses a highly efficient database implementation, allowing very large family files to be supported. Users have successfully displayed and edited files containing over 300,000 individuals.
Families requires a companion program running on the PC to transfer family files to and from the Android device. This program, Families Sync, can be downloaded free of charge from www.telgen.co.uk/families.

I rarely take the time to write a review...only if I'm extremeley happy with the product or if I'm very dissatisfied. In this case it is the latter. I agree with Linda and Christine. After messing with with the app for about 30 minutes trying to get my Legacy file onto my Android I finally figured out what it was asking me about the file! Once I figured that out, I tried to sync using the USB and everything looked like it was running but it didn't appear on the app on my phone. Then I tried to sync by Wi-Fi. I still can't see the file on my Families app. I don't consider myself an idiot when it comes to technology. Better instructions are needed to walk people through the process. It is not intuitive nor user friendly.
I find this app very useful but it could do with a decent upgrade. One could be the ability to sync with the program with Legacy, in real time not just the usual way we have to do it now, on a laptop so you can update either program. I generally use Families to check details on the go and being a researcher I can check other peoples trees. But I'd have to refer to Legacy if I wanted to print a decent tree or report. Ive not found an better app either.
Complete waste of time. Download and spend hours creating a family tree only to have it dissappear.
I am losing my families (including the Kennedy family) after I do a search for anything in Google or Amazon. I have to reboot phone for the families to show again. What gives?
Have owned it for years with no problems, until recently(a few months back) NOW, It crashes every time you try to run it on my cell hone which has had no major changes. What's the matter programmers? Help /answers would be nice.
I literally use the Families app every day. I've read some of the negative reviews and they seem to be mostly about not being able to sync their devices with their Legacy files. I have not had any problems doing this with my Android; it works well for me. Having my genealogy data with me at all times has been a lifesaver. When I go to a library/archive or out of town on a research trip, I am able to look up anyone I have a question about to be sure I have the right person, right dates, right places, etc. There's no way I can remember all the details for everyone in my file, so the Families app is essential for me. One of the best things about the app is that when I am at a family gathering, my relatives will come to me knowing that I'm the family historian and ask me questions. I grab my phone, look up the person in question, and am able to provide the answer since I have the person's details as well as all my notes and sources in the Families app. People are very impressed when they see that. I love this app!
I bought this app a few weeks ago thinking about future use. I ended up going to a genealogy conference and ended up using it the entire weekend! I pulled up all my family and media. It was absolutely amazing. I told everyone about it. They were all eager to get it since they saw it in use. Thank You for creating this!!
Absolutely Atrocious. When I payed 8.99 for this app, I thought this would go the extra mile. Turns out that the app looks like something from 2009. Don't pay for this game, you'll regret it.
This worked very well then suddenly Stopped Working on my Desktop. I have since changed Phone and this will not allow my to sync to my phone. Problem event APPCRASH. No support from TelGen at this time
Waste of money. Can not work out how to sync my legacy files to phone and instructions are useless for a novice like me. Would like a refund since can't use. Even emailed for help but no reply, so no help offered.
I can not get it to transfer from the PC to the Android phone. I have tried every name from my Legacy file that I can think of and it says the name is not recognizable. I need some help with this. I was so looking forward to carrying my family tree with me. I would like to know what I am doing wrong and where I can go for help.
Wonderful app to enable access to Legacy data on Android. Latest update clears the problem I had that stopped Families working. Now great again
It crashes every time you try to run it. I bought it several years ago and am installing it on a new tablet.
I had that problem too Jack but the new update seems to have fixed it. I can't be without it!!
This was a good program until recently. I have reported this numerous times and get know response. Why is it still available for puchase?
Use it all the time. You can download all your genealogy from Legacy. Easy to use.

Don't like the new bright color. Would prefer the option for a darker theme. Other wise very good app. Would really like a dark theme. The white background is hard on the eyes. Lots of apps now are providing a dark theme with their app. Would give five star if dark theme was option..
Use this app all the time. Have now had to upgrade my laptop, but am unable to install the app on the PC with my Legacy program. Would I have to re-purchase it? Not ideal, and it is such a handy tool to have on your mobile to capture informatoin on the go.
It gets better with every release. Very handy to have my entire genealogy file with me at all times.
Latest update turns this app into 5 stars.
Greast program for showing off, or just checking on my data from my Legacy family tree. The display is very logical and easy to see and use.
Very usefull application for me. Synchronization between my android device and PC is good - no problem. And my family tree is available for me - anytime and anywhere. Great job. I can recommend for Legacy Family tree users. After last update Master list address works well!

Great program. Integrates well with Legacy 8
Although it was working fine before, when I attempted to install the latest update on 16 Oct 2016 it will not install. As a result I can no longer use this. This is now the next day and today the App installed without problems. I do get an error when trying to convert a Legacy 8.0 file and had to use the 7.5 version of my data. I thought it is supposed to work with Legacy 8.0
This is the best app for Legacy 8.0 for the Android. It does everything I could ever ask of the software.
Very happy with this app
After software update yesterday, Families app would not open, goes to blank screen. Tried to reinstall app, lost 4 other Families files that were large. Only file left is sample Kennedy file! This problem has occurred multiple times!!! 3/16/2022 Tried to use app today. All data files lost. Sometimes getting message "App will be put to sleep as it is unused" even though it is used frequently! Why does this system software put apps to sleep and how do you block this and get app to open again?
