Family Tree Maker Connect

This app doesn't work at all for me. I was so excited to be able to put this app on my phone for all those times I need to look something up when no laptop is available, but I'm highly disappointed! Upon opening the app nothing happens and there are no navigation or option choices other than logging out. I'm simply looking at a blue screen with the logo at the top. I've deleted and reloaded twice; still nothing.

Not Worth the GBs. There is no real functionality in this app other than to view what I presume is the last tree you had open on a desktop. You can't edit anything, switch trees, or do any research. The only setting option is to change the background color of the tree you're looking at. Stick with your Ancestry app. At least it serves a purpose beyond viewing one tree. Very disappointing to have no real purpose.

Very disappointed as was hoping for this to be as good as the Family Tree program. After numerous attempts to open my successfully created satellite tree, the app will not open the tree at all. I have reinstalled the app several times but it is still not working. My phone has plenty of memory including additional storage so there should be no problem.

Very disappointed. For the first time I have an app I am rating 1 star and would rate lower if I could. The app will not even open. I have successfully created an Antenna Tree in the desktop version which I love. Even went into settings to grant permissions, which should not have to be done, and the app still will not even open. Using a Samsung S9+ with an SD Card so plenty of free memory. This app is completely worthless. Uninstalling.

I find this app very useful for a quick reference when out researching or discussion with others on our tree. Since FTM introduced colour coding it is very easy to check direct lines and if you set up the colour options for WW1, WW2, medical, workhouse or whatever you choose it increases the benefit. I agree, to make it a 5 star app it does need linking to the data held in FTM and the ability for it to run via whatever Cloud storage you use. I do use subscription services but with limits.

Early days. Basic interface provided. Limited information available - effectively a summary. Intuitive to navigate, but can get lost on mobile device screen if complicated or large tree... Could do with other navigation aids, ability to delve deeper to see other media items and facts not presented in summary or 'alternative'. Also be handy if had guest login for other members of family etc. which gave you options to restrict certain info for living relations.

Gave one extra star as I use it often when I need quick access to my tree. However, updates to my desktop tree do not synch with this app eventhough the program says the update was succesful. Clearly needs improvement. Using it on a Nokia 8 with no issues. No crashing, slow loading etc. observed. Keeping fingers crossed

I have tried 5 times, to connect and the program will not show a tree on the connect program on my note20! I suggest the MacKiev ensure the program is workable before it provides it to its community for use!!! VERY disappointing! VERY disappointed!! Tried 3 times this morning still not show on my phone.

UPDATE 12/31/2020: Clearly, the FTM parent company doesn't give a rat's ass about this app or our wish to share our work. This program app is a gross failure. FTM has to put some effort into this app. It continuously crashes when trying to move about the antenna tree, even if I give it time to load with each shift toward the target individual. Where is the update v. 2.0? Currently only v 1.0 is available. Who expects 1.0 to work without glitches? Please fix it!

Decent app. The app takes a long time to load. Some of your tree is loaded from the start. You can click on various people to view various branches of your tree. Again, takes a while to load. Odd when I'm on high speed internet.

Wouldn't display all of the saved info. Live chat said they would research my problem & email me. Not only did I not receive an email but app then started locking up. Tried uninstall/reinstall - stiil locked up. Removed this useless app from my phone. Don't waste your time with this app!!!!!

This is just a viewer. Unlike other reviews, I still think it is a useful app. I often use it when I go to a library or the like to remember things that I am researching. When I get home, I then enter in all my information back into the tree. I do not want my entire master tree uploaded to Ancestry, so this is a great option. Of course I would love it to be a full on editor, but I will take this over nothing.

Unfortunately the application repeatedly crashes on new android devices running current versions of the os (as of 9/15/2020). Hopefully the team can get it fixed soon I was looking forward to it.

Good layout and easy to navigate, shame that you can't connect to ancestry in order to continue "treeing" on the go while out and about. No hints like previous app I was using. Only really useful to check things already on primary tree. Will the Ancestry "hints" connection be added at a later date?

I see the point of this app is a view only, but it also does not keep updated to the vault. I have had to uninstall and reinstall to get it to be accurate to changes.

The app signs in but wont load tree . works great on iphone but not on android....been over a year had someone at customer service said they where working on problem have never heard from since and problem still exsist dont think they even tried going to delete dont waste your time with this app

It works in Android but I see very little benefit. If you use ancestry online then use their app. Even without a current tree it gives more than this app. If you don't then this app will hold your info from FTM but it doesn't carry your source images, just the basic tree and detail which is all read only.

Loaded tree on Samsung s21ultra, will not load on older Samsung tablet, will just use Ancestry app, it works. Worthless junk, makes you wonder about the rest of their programs. Tree on phone is useless because you cannot do anything with it.

Naughty description. Can't get past login. Says it is companion to FTM but it is actually a companion to FTM Tree Vault, a Monthly additional subscription.

Still a waste of time as it will not download my Antenna Tree. Total waste if time, will not even download my antenna tree. Pointless app do not install

Just a viewer and limited at that. I like the 2019 desktop version but even that is getting dated. Im not seeing the level of commitment by the owners customers expect to evolve this software further. They seem to not be investing further. Why did they buy the company?

Tried many times to load but always freezes after approximately 6 seconds. Repeatedly uninstalled & reinstalled but same problem.

This app partially works for me, curiously only for my maternal side. It won't show/expand the paternal side, even though it recognises in the info that the oldest record is on my paternal side.

Very disappointed. After many attempts, my tree will not download to my GalaxyS20 Note. I have used FTM for about 20 yrs and was really excited about this . You n÷d to correct the problem.

Pointless app. Can't even color code to keep things straight while working on tree. No way to add info if you find anything so what's the point of having on your phone?

You can only use it if you have a paid tree vault account which means it won't open a file I shared to my phone with Dropbox... Seems very unreasonable to me and I'll be uninstalling

I agree with other reviwers' comments. The app would not run and I eventually uninstalled it. Don't bother with it unless it gets some serious fixes installed!

Have followed all instructions. Vault is active and fully loaded. app keeps tellng me tree is not loaded try later. more than one attempt to ltry and get this app to work.

Can't edit anything. Whats the point of this app when you can use the ancestry app and be able to view and edit your family tree. Uninstalling this worthless app.

On my android phone, app only shows all generations of the tree for my closer family. Very limited use when visiting more distant relatives. Shows all on wife's iPhone 10.
