Fanfiction Reader

My favorite fanfic reader app. Friendly, easy to use. Just the basics, and you don't have to be online to read stories. Suggestions: enable searching by title or author in "browse stories," and enable backing up and restoring from Google Drive as well as local memory. That would be a boon when someone starts up a new device but doesn't want to download their whole library again. Aside from those 2 things, I like this app a lot. I like its simplicity and ease of use.

I've been a long time user of this app. Better part of a decade. Over several different devices. Had relatively few issues up until last week when I could no longer access anything online. You can search and see titles but when you click, nothing. Only thing that I can read is anything that had been saved in my Library. Error message says failure to access server. Please tell me there's an update on the way to fix? Currently using Motorola.

I just switched phones, and I had to read the source on github to figure out how to restore a backup. To anyone else having problems, you need to put the .bak file in the root directory of your SD card (internal memory doesn't appear to work). If the app can find your file, restore will become an available option. Loses a star for the backup system being obtuse and undocumented, but everything else about the app is still great!

Hello, I had this app for years and love it, still do. Love that my download stories updated. Thank you app creator. There are still some problems. I have been able to save to my saves but it won't save stories that have over 80 Chapters. I've been trying to save 2 different stories that have 158 and 120 Chapters. Hope soon be able to save them and others.

I love this app and have had it for a good while. I know that there have been server connection problems for a while recently, and that an update was recently added, but the update hasn't changed anything for me. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or not. I understand the dev probably has a very busy life and respect their efforts to fix the app. Hopefully they have some luck and it works properly again, I miss seeing new chapters getting downloaded on my saved stories. :)

For a basic app, this gives me exactly what I need. It's simplistic enough but with enough filters that I can find the stories I want to read and can save them and read them later. It is having some connection issues at the moment as indicated in the creator notes. I have full faith that this will be fixed as soon as the creator can and I am willing to wait because it is a good, faithful app.

I love the app but currently like many others I'm getting the failed to connect to server message. I sent the developer an email and got an auto reply. It basically says he's not currently maintaining the app fanfiction mobile web site updated and now has ads that the app is struggling with. He's busy with work but will try and fix it as soon as he can. The app is a open source so if someone wants to take a shot at the problem they can. If you click on what's new there is more info there.

love this app, always have across multiple devices, but I am having issues with the new update. can no longer see the time, which was really important considering how distracted books can make me, and I'm having scrolling issues where it will jump significantly enough (paragraphs, not lines) that I can't find my spot again for a few seconds. Please help!

One of the better apps I have gotten over time, straight forward in use and one that I have not had any problems with at all. Only suggestions I have are: When adding a new story, have the app create a new story with that Id. Even if it only saves the first page, at least it could be updated easier. Secondly, when adding new stories, a auto save option/setting for every 5 or 10 pages. So at 5 or 10 pages, it saves then resumes. This would help with 50+page downloads with poor internet.

This app has served me faithfully for almost 6 years now. My only complaint comes from a bug under the 'Favorites and Follows' tab, whenever I click on any story there, the app crashes. Beyond that I can still download stories that I've found with the app, or if I'm quick enough to hit the download button before it crashes.

Have used the app for years, it's easy to use and to download stories. While there is some trouble right now with "failure to connect to server" I'm glad they're fixing it and I can read stories again. It's a great app way better than the others and I fell like they have more options to read which is great! I can't wait for the problem to be fix and to use it again. Good job developers

This is a really good app, I've been using it for years now but suddenly it's not connecting to the server even though I'm connected to the internet. No matter what I've tried, uninstall and reinstall, restarting phone, restarting internet, it won't connect to the server. I can't see any stories that I don't have downloaded nor can I update the stories I have downloaded. Is there anyway to fix this? Edit: Nov 11, 2021. It's having trouble connecting online now and won't show or update anything

Like so many others recently, this app has not been working. It's mostly not working on my android system, but has been working on my iPad. Because it still works there, 3 stars. If the developer ever comes back to fix the issue, I might just keep it on my galaxy. Hope so, this was a great app... except the ads. But I hate ads.

I have used this app for years and it worked perfectly. However I just upgraded my phone to the Note 10+ and everything transferred fine but on the 18th of Dec it stopped working. I can still read any stories that I already have but nothing will load now and nothing will update. I get an Error downloading file not found for all of my stories and if I try to download a new story it just says the same thing. I really do not like any of the other apps for this website so I hope it can be fixed.

I like this app and been using it for many years now but I'm having the error for a few days now that I cant download new update from my labrary, its always error when I tried even one story in my library. Also if its possible if you can back up all your library data in SD card so it won't be a hassle when you get a new phone no need to redownload and find the story you like. But all in all I very much like this app and will use it. Please fix the error.

Been using this for years now. And i just love it so much. So easy to use. Thank you so much for the back/restore option, because whenever google play services malfunctions, i have to do a factory reset my tablet. But because of the b/r option, i can save all my downloaded stories :3 Edit: 04-19-20 Frm 5 stars to 3 Bec. Whenever I go OL, the app crashes and when I open it again, all of my stories are gone. Please fix this.

I love fanfiction and this app has finally given me what I want from a fanfiction app. Its easy to filter and it remembers where you are up to if you have phone difficulties. I know that right now I can't search or download any new stories due to this temp situation, but its not effecting me from reading the stories I do have. I hope the app owners manage to solve this problem asap. Not just for my sake, but so that others can enjoy this app as well instead of squinting at a computer screen.

If I could give this app 6 stars, I would. If there was a premium version, I'd buy it. I honestly can't express how much I love this app. I have it on my phone screen twice and on my tablet. I've been using it for years and never had a single issue. There are no ads, the UI is great, there's a dark mode... what more could I want? 11/10, will download again.

I've never had a problem with this wonderful app in the years I've been using it, but much like a recent fellow reviewer, within the last week for whatever reason the app crashes everytime I try to open a story in my follows list. Oddly it allows me to access my favorites, just not any of my follows. Thanks for this wonderful app, just wanted to make sure you knew the issue wasn't just one person.

I think its a great app to use for reading. One thing that I think might be good to add however is have options in the word count to limit the amounts of words via the filter. For instance you already have two options that being under 1k words and under 5k but I believe that adding more options to this set in the filter (as in the under a number rather than just over) may be worth looking into.

this app has always been a favorite of mine and works well, i couldnt reccommend a better place to read fanfiction. however, recent updates have made using it annoying now. copy paste crashes and the missing ui are an extreme pain to get around. not to mention those features are completely pointless on their own without the bugs.

The app is VERY good and I've used it comfortably for years now. (EDIT: Recent update has it so that i can sync my library thank goodness. There is still a problem with not being able to put fics into follows or favorites and i can't post reviews either. (EDIT#2: Error with syncing my library updates again. It doesnt update any fics even tho i know for fact that some have updated recently. Its been like this since last month i think. Just says error. ) )

it's a good app especially for fanficlovers But recently I can't seem to download new stories or update the ones I've already downloaded. It's been going on for weeks. Edit: March 10, 2022 The app still isn't working. But for all the years I used this. Thanks. I've been using it since middle school and now I'm in college. It's been great to have all these years

Testing this out after my old FF Reader app started crashing recently. Pretty good app - simple design, easy to use, and does its job well. A few ways I think it could be better: 1) Give me the ability to organize my library by grouping stories by author so they can be collapsed 2) Allow me to save searches so I can regularly check for fandom updates with one click 3) Show last updated date throughout the app - in library, browsing, searching, etc. Otherwise, great app! I'll probably keep it.

I love this app. My only problem is that I recently switched phones and on my new phone the app won't recognize the backup data from the previous phone. I can't access any of the stories i have previously saved and have to find every single one to re-download.

This is the best reader I've found. Simple, fast, intuitive, no-nonsense, and thankfully free of that "it ain't broke so let's fix it" philosophy that ruins so many apps and makes them horrifically complicated to use *cough YouTube Music!* Unlike other fanfic readers, I can read stories offline (which is great because my old tablet can't handle data usage), so I have tons of stories to get me through until the developer returns. If possible, please put this app in the Amazon app store too!

This is great app. I do have a problem with it adding follows and favorites. It shows that it has succeeded in adding them even when you aren't logged in. It also doesn't warn you when you are logged out. Other then that it is a far smoother experience then the official app.
