After last update on 17 march, the application works much better. Still some hanging on backups. By times the amp can also freeze. This last never happened when the app was not connected. Hope to be able to give more stars as the app is developed further. These last improvements have avoid me to return the amplifier. Thanks
Great app. Must have for Mustang amps. My only complaint is that it cannot sync up with the amp when I first open the app. Need to disconnect and reconnect to make it work. Minor annoyance.
Fyi standard firmware update hung 1/2 thru. Full update went fine and only took a minute. (See the bottom section of the instructions)
Missing a lot of functions, like easy change order, easy access to 200 presets, clear all, switch off 'are you sure question' after a delete, and more. I bought the Mustang gtx100 because of an easy way to edit the Amp functions, but it turns out that the Amp has more possibilities than the app. Using set playing live is gone after using tuner. Really disappointing app.
Horrible can never actually connect to the amp even with no other active Bluetooth devices
There's one thing to do to make it sound right, buy a better amp and some pedals. This is bedroom acceptable only. Beyond that there's no feel. It's good for getting an idea of what effects, amps, cabs you might like to use but not performance of any kind. My problem really isn't with your app and would have give 5 stars if not for the bit of run around connecting. I actually really enjoyed the layout and learned a ton. Mustang amps, soundwise? I got a Fender Cyber Twin. That's what I'm talkin
poor connectivity with Bluetooth which completely ruins the use of this app...the only way it connects is after repeatedly turning the amp on and off and rescanning with the app. when it does connect it tends to stay connected but after you've finished playing and turned off the amp, when you go and start the amp again you have to go through the same stupid proceedure. I've given up with it but I have to use it if I need to download a tone. I expect better from fender. using android version 11.
I'm an Italian musician, but I've decided to write this review in English so even people who don't speak Italian can read it. App awfully unreliable. It absolutely refuses to locate and connect to my mustang gtx 100 even if I follow the instructions on the fender site regarding bluetooth issue. Bluetooth sign appears on the amp, but nothing happens. I've unistalled the app, restarted my Android mobile, reinstalled the app, I've read all the tips present in all the reviews of musicians having the same troubles with the app, and tried them, I've updated the firmware following all the instruction on the fender site, but the app simply refuses to do its work. As many others wrote before me in their reviews “incredibly frustrating experience” and total loss of time it's the least I can say. If only there were “minus stars”...
While I personally have no problems with the bluetooth and wifi connectivity on my GTX100, the app still has room for improvement. I have two main issues, no option to backup/restore to local storage and the app jumping to the start of the list when I replace an amp, cab or effect instead of positioning the list on the current item. Wish that Fender would open the BT API (and app?) to the public to make 3rd party enhancements/addons possible.
Very very unreliable in my experience. To be honest, I think the IDEA of the mustang modelling amp, and part of the execution of it is amazing. But one of the key components for me was the ability to connect via Bluetooth and control the amp that way so i dont have to be sitting on top of it. However, the connection is terrible (from maybe 4 feet away), the app keeps freezing up on my new model phone. It is unbearable and frustrating to use. Any advice is greatly appreciated thanks Fender.
I've tried Fender Tone on both Apple and Android devices, and the difference is night and day. Apple version is smooth, responsive, and reliable. Android version is ... none of those things. Screen navigation is awkward. Bluetooth connection is highly unstable. Lag time when changing presets is maddening; sometimes I just get "Loading..." forever. I haven't had any of these problems when using Tone on an iPhone or iPad. My recommendation: if you get a Mustang GT amp, get an Apple.
Can be a little temperamental when connecting to the amp - can't be certain whether that is more to do with the amp or the app, but once there, the experience is very satisfactory..... with just one niggle. Would really appreciate it if the app could default to the amp's current program and not set it back to 1. Update to original review. I have reassessed my score to 2 as the phrase 'can be a little temperamental' does not even begin to describe how awful the connectivity is. I put my phone o
I love the idea of using my phone to control the amp and I bought the GTX50 for that reason. However, it's really painful to use the Bluetooth to stream music and then try to switch to the tone app. It just doesn't work well. On the support site fender recommends not to use both! So you guys sell a product that can do 2 things, then you recommend to use only 1 because otherwise does not work well. Very disappointing and it needs to be fixed! Please fix the Bluetooth connectivity.
Good app, which is easy to use and with a lot of functionality. Slightly frustrating that you can't make presets when not connected to the amp. Bluetooth has a few issues as there is a 1 second delay during playback and it occasionally cuts out (although this is more stable with the last update).
Pretty good app. It's actually useful to make some presets but nothing more. The bluetooth connectivity doesn't works well. If you connect your phone through the app you can't play music through the amp, and if you connect your phone through the android settings it doesn't allows you to modify any preset/effect/knob. Also, there is some big delay when playing music through the amp from a bluetooth device. All of this makes impossible using the gtx mustangs as practice amps.
Hello, I have the Mustang LT 25, which seems to not work with the mobile version of the app, however, It works with the desktop version just fine. Albeit, the mobile version has a "download" function where one can download public presets for their amp, but this is not available for the desktop version. I believe people would find it very beneficial if this feature comes to the desktop version as well. Thanks.
Obviuously, I was a little concerned by some of the negative reviews on this product, but I have had no such issues. The app was easy to install and easy to use. As long as there are no updates to wreck it, I shall be happy. I am using a Motorola android phone. When starting the amp, it will not always connect automatically. I usually just go through settings to connect through Bluetooth. Probably obvious, but it might aleviate some of the problems people are having. Recommended.
UPDATE: Change from 3 to 5 stars. Sorry Fender for not giving you a fair shake. Works 100% now. Well designed and useful app. Helpful in faster navigation of presets. As a older user it is easier to read on a the tablet than the amp to edit. Moving presets and Creating names for them are much easier because of this app. Older post: Wonky AF. Connects 1/2 the time other 1/2 not useable. Still has firmware/app issues. Tells me to update firmware 1/2 The time just updated it few hours ago.
Perfect companion to your compatible fender amp. Great interface, easy to use after a bit of practice, with superb graphics that almost make you believe you can feel the cold steel of the many effect pedals it emulates. Sure, you don't need to use this app to enjoy your amp, but to truly experience what it has on offer this app is a must.
Bluetooth stbility is unreliable. Clunky interface. You must be connected to the amp when making any modifications. Want to change your signal chain so your modulation comes before the reverb on a patch becuase you're going on after this next band? Need to add that patch to the updated set list you were just texted on the way to the gig? Unless your connected to the amp you cant do any of those things.
App has been abandoned, there hasn't been substantial updates to the app since it was created and Fender has completely abandoned updating the firmware for the Mustang GT, Rumble Stage/Studio since Oct, 2018. These products were advertised as having regular updates. Fender has given up on these two amp lines for the soon to be released GTX. The Tone app is and has been buggy. It has all sorts of connectivity issues, loses presets, and audio randomly cuts out.
Very easy to control the amp with this amp. The app looks great on my mobile phone. Can easily change and adjust tones & effects, and swith effects on/off. The drawings of the amps and pedals on the amp mean it makes sense and is easy to work out what's going on. Now I want to buy a tablet to save phone battery.
And now it's back to not working again. Same problem as before cuts out and drops sound. I really want this thing to work because when it does, it's amazing. Updated review: I was having problems with the amp cutting out continually. Fender responded to my review and asked for me to contact them. It was simply outdated firmware and needed to be updated. Been playing on it for a week solid now and no issues. Thanks for the support Fender!
