Fester Mudd: Episode 1

Set in Wild West, FESTER MUDD: CURSE OF THE GOLD is a three-part comic saga of exploration, reunion, and redemption...and a love letter to the classic adventure games of the 90s!
Roused from a life of sloth to reunite with his long-lost brother in search of unimaginable riches, reluctant hero Fester Mudd somehow manages to be intrepid but cowardly, ambitious yet lazy, dimwitted but brilliant.

In Episode 1, Fester hits the trail to join his brother, Bud, in the downtrodden town of Loamsmouth. But when Bud is found to have mysteriously vanished, Fester realizes that the journey will be far longer and more treacherous than he bargained for...and he must enlist the aid of an experienced gunslinger to help him make his way through Indian territory to track down both his missing brother and the gold that awaits them both!

But gunslingers don't come cheap...and Fester must find a way to convince him to join him on the perilous quest.

This Episode sees Fester exploring Loamsmouth and surrounding territories. Along the way, he'll meet and deal with an assortment of Old West roughnecks, flim-flammers, and other larger-than-life characters...and give adventure game fans a huge blast from the past!

Great little gem, certainly brings back the 90's. My only gripe is the "out of nowhere" in-app purchase. I would have happily paid in advance in order to play the game, and I paid the required sum in order to continue, but there's no need to blindside your customer. Take that into consideration.

Loved it, one of the best modern examples of the classic genre. VERY disappointed at the length. No where near the length of monkey island or broken sword for the same money. That's the only downside. If it was cheaper it would have been 5 stars for sure

Have never written a review before, but felt I must if it in any way can help with getting us Episode 2. This game is as good as, if not better than the games that inspired it, and want to see what the production team can do next.

Replay Games has published a "golden nugget" here. Just like the old Sierra games, this game makes you think and laugh while you enjoy the story. With easy to use controls, it's fast to get into and I'm already looking forward to episode 2!

Had this game come out in the legendary era of the point and click adventures, it would have ranked as one of the all time greats. One of the few games I've ever purchased on the app store. Well worth the money. Wished id found this gem sooner.

It starts out great. The steps you need to take need to be a little more suggestive as to what to do next. Seems like wondering around at random causes the things to change. Also, as we are not allowed to leave town, "Episode 1" seems to be incomplete and way too short, or too ambiguous in what to do to continue. I am left walking in circles with no idea what i need to do.

Love the game, once i can get into it. It crashes about three times at the startup before i can get into it. Very frustrating. Also not hapoy that description does not reflect that it is only partly free then you have to pay. Brought the full version and liked it. Its not long, but not too short. Developer has done a great job, just need to fix the startup issue.

This lived up to the legacy of some of my favorite games from my youth... kings quest, police quest, and leisure suit larry. I had no problem paying a few bucks for it. It was way more entertainment than most things in life that you can get for that much. I can't wait for the next episode! Worked great on my kobo arc tablet.

Is Just like classic MONKEY ISLANDS... Well someone has to say it! No talking but you forget your reading it after a while just like the old amiga point n clicks. There's just not enough of these type of games about. Came across game called yesterday. That's pretty good as well. Please add a pay option using paypal cos I'm sure it would tempt more people as like me, dont want to put in my card details online

This game really nails those original adventure games! The puzzle solutions aren't really intuitive, so a hint now and then would be good, but I made it through. I hope the next one comes out soon.

Fester Mudd is a point and click adventure game done in the spirit of Lucasarts and Sierra adventure's of the early 90's. It's being published by replaygames inc. , which Josh Mandel and Al Lowe are apart of,, though it was made by the one man company of prank games. It is being released in episodes, and this is the first. The download is a playable demo with the in app option to buy the game. Even though all dialogue is written and game time is limited since this is just the first episode, I feel the asking price of only 3 dollars is justified. ( has become so devalued lately, with all the free-with-ads/99¢ apps, people forget how much effort is actually required for game development.) Gameplay is standard verb/object interaction, and it is executed fairly well on this platform. Im using a 4.5" screen and had little trouble selecting what I needed. The characters/backgrounds are 2d vga pixel art. Characters look good, animations are smooth, and backgrounds are detailed. The background music is both professional sounding and appropriate to the setting that helps create the old west theme they are aiming for. While I had a few laugh out loud moments(martha, bank scene

Easy enough. Story and writing is quite good. Not quite as good as Monkey Island series, which this tries to emulate in a few places. The major disappointment is the length. For the money (which it will charge you very soon into the game) its expensive. When the game ends after the first set of real tasks it tells you that it will return in episode 2. It feels like this is a quarter or even a fifth of the way through a traditional game of this genre, say a Monkey Island or more recently Syberia etc

When I get to feed the cat the treats, on the third treat it doesn't let me click "give" to give the cat the treat... I have tried it like 10 times and it is very frustrating and time wasting.

I like the game and ended up buying the full version but everytime I try to use the clothes pin he says ow and takes it off so I can't go any farther I feel like I've tried everything.

I enjoyed playing this game but I also hate playing a game with no ending. This game is episode 1. After I finished playing the game I realized there is no episode 2 to download and the company who made the game has decided not to make the rest of the episode leaving me hanging....

The reason some people THINK this game crashes when walking to the plains is because their mobile data must be off. If your mobile data is on you will see the reason that the game stops there is because you need to purchase the game to play on beyond that point.

I couldn't figure out what to do next. I finally realized that O would have to pay to continue. Not sure if this is mentioned in the description but I did not see it stated. Concept is cool and graphics OK so I am only giving it 3 stars and uninstalling.

Thank you Replay and Prank for resurrecting our old favorites... I highly enjoyed this remake and hope you are funded to do more. I look forward to your next project.

Reminded me of the old school games such as leisure suit Larry n the space quest series. Hope episode two is out soon.

Loved this game. I haven't had a problem with it crashing like people have said. Free version is just a trial but $3 is not bad at all for this game. I rarely pay for games but I think this is worth it if you like old style point and click style- this is the best I have found.

I enjoyed it but would have preferred to know it wasn't free up front. I would still have bought it as I like this style of games. Bit buggy in the beginning, but otherwise a good game. Hoping there's an episode 2

A great little game, had a lot of fun! The puzzles felt more natural and logical than in many other similar games, the controls were OK and overall it works quite well. The game will ask you to pay after a short while, which is a good try-before-you-buy feature after Google lowered the refund limit to 15 minutes (booh), however it didn't work until I restarted the game and I'd have liked to see information about this in the description. It's a bit too short even if it's an "episode" but hopefully this finances more episodes then. It also crashes every second startup, but works well once it starts, so no real problem. All in all, great, would buy again and will definitely get the next episode.

Great game.. I also didn't enjoy the pay to finish popup. I do understand that the Dev needs to make money but just charge $3 for the episode.. Don't pull stuff like that. Also.. it's a little much for another 20 to 25 minutes of gameplay.

It was doing good until i tried going to the plains. It then freezes and exits the game
