Update: CS reached out within a few hours of my review and we working through the issues. Amazing service! I like it so far. Only complaints are the safe zone, zones have to be to big I can't make it the size of my property so it's in the street which is not ideal. Walks don't seem to work very well. I dunno if it's because my wifi reaches where I take her for walks but it's wonky. I've had once where it she teleported down the street and it eventually fixed but was scary for a bit.
I thought the reviews should be focused on the app and not battery life, subscriptions, or clearly stated features of 60 second lost mode updates? The app works well and I don't find it slowing down my phone. The alerts are consistent. My only suggestion is reducing the minimum radius of home base for small properties/yards.
Horrible product. Battery life is terrible. The base constantly has to be reset just to connect to the collar, also to charge. All of this after upgrading to the new unit. The old unit was worse. I recommend whistle. I have my other dog on it and it's much better on battery life, activity tracking, and overall reliability. Don't waste your money on Fi!
It's been decent thus far. Biggest issue is that walks don't seem to be reliably tracked. Generally missed altogether or shorted a significant distance. It may be the fact that I live in the woods and walk my dog off leash a lot, so the Bluetooth connection may not ideal. I'll be interested to see what improvements are made for these purposes in the future.
Works well when battery works efficiently. So far it's been on the base for almost 24 hours and is only @85% charged. Not sure why it takes so long to charge. Bad base? I've had to exchange the actual collar two or three times since I originally purchased it with hiccups that never fully solved, which hasn't been exactly making me confident with the reliability.
Works most of the time. After 7 months I started to have issue with it showing no tracking and zero steps. Thanks for killing my 40 day goal streak lol. The battery showed 100 percent in app and then went to 57 in 20 minutes. Then showed 97 later that day without charging unit. Please put the app changes in the update. Today I see you moved the led on button from bottom of screen to be part of the dogs card at the top. Why did you move it? And what else did you change on the user without Rnote
Not very accurate unless within the range of your phone. Doesnt track walks very well if not connected to the app... Like misses 2 miles of tracking. So one dog walked 4.3 miles... The other dog tethered to it only walked 2.1.... at least have a quater to a half mile radius if my dog is lost....
Too many 0 step days where the battery is shown as 30%+ walks aren't logged, steps aren't logged. The fix is usually putting it on the base and doing a reset. Very frustrating when you have a long streak. Will be going back to whistle once my subscription is done
I absolutely love this collar! I use a smart watch for myself and don't use as many features on mine as I do on this app/collar for my doggo. The collar is cheap for everything it does. I wasnt going to get the subscription but I am now after using the free trial and enjoying all the features. The tech is amazing but the actual collar is average. Battery life is better than I expected. Love the sleep tracking. I'm trying to get my friends to join so I can get a free collar and compare activity!
For the love of God, why did you not enable me to activate this in my Bluetooth settings and only through the app..... If I'm going to have to have the app open every time I take the walk for to accurately track it, why not let me go into Bluetooth and just have my phone as the permanent base and just keep it connected the entire day would be the same as a smartwatch. I just don't get why you don't let the user enable their own Bluetooth connection or when they want to connect to it or not.
Customer service is horribly rude. There is no phone support at all, it's all through email and texting chat. Which is horrible. I didn't realize that these had to be attached to Wi-Fi regardless if you only needed to track the dogs by GPS outside. So make sure you have a really high Wi-Fi package, because it will consume alot of data.
When i try to remove a safe zone from the list, red remove button opens editing of the area rather than removing it...Could do better with tracking location and showing it on the map even when the dogs is next to me and both bluetooth & location are switched on. Keep getting poor phone signal message a lot lately...Isn't it supposed to use its own network instead of my phones? We live in downtown so any network signal should be good 🤷
My dog got loose while away from home. Took off down the road and I couldn't figure out where the button was for Lost Dog Mode. Recommend maybe making it quicker to find in an emergency situation. I could care less about the social media portion. That's not why I bought the collar, but the app seems to focus more on that than the function of the collar, which is to keep track of the dogs location.
If I could give less than one star, I would. Very slow to update, if you use lost dog feature, you may or may not get a location which only updates every 60 seconds. That is not at all helpful when trying to find the dog. I will go back to Whistle, they have real time tracking.
Edit: after several tries, I was able to connect and is working. The pin point accuracy isn't exactly what I expected and the app is not as user friendly as I was hoping, but all in all, I like that it does warn you when the dogs leave the safe zone. Had it for a month now and simply can not get it to connect. I try every few days because I work full time, run a alarm and take care of my father with dementia. I don't have hours to get it set up. $100 paperweight.
update I have a brand new Samsung flip phone and your app is destroying the battery you need a way to turn everything off when you're not using the collar like during sleep hours it chews up a quarter of my battery overnight. Keeps having problems with the app in Android. Also gives false data like she's been at home for 4 hours when she's been on a walk and the walk is not tracked. Not happy with the app.
This item was returned. First off it wasn't compatible with newest the phones in our case Goodle pixel 6. Second it sent texts alarming our dog had left the yard several times between 1:30am -530am. Our dog was asleep in the house. This continued for the next few days before just returning. Have to pay to ship it back. Not worth it.
The dog walk tracking is horrible, Thinks car rides are walks. Can't make the collar light steady color it only blinks. Keeps telling me my dog has left home or without an owner, when she is right next to me. The app kills the battery on my phone. Nothing to do with the app, but the collar they send will start to fringe within a few months and won't replace it. Material is junk. As of recently when I open steps the app crashes even after a reinstall.
Tracking is terrible on Android devices. My husband has an iPhone and the tracking seems to be much better on his device. I've gone through and assured all permissions are set correctly and it only shows that I'm the one who has taken the dog on a walk intermittently. More often than not it seems to think my dog has left the house without me.
This collar has been a lifesaver! I've got a wanderer and the pinpoint accuracy of his whereabouts gives us total peace of mind. We live in a remote rural area & was skeptical of the Fi abilities at first but I highly recommend this collar for all pet owners as it has been a great asset to us. We do not have wifi at our location but the satellite locating has just a minute delay (or less) so we are always aware of where our boy has gone.
Don't buy unless you want to pay the $100 subscription. I got it thinking it would be fun to know the steps, how much the dog sleeps and if she wakes up in the middle of the night, but without the subscription you can not see the activity and sleep history. They make you pay for features that should be free. As an example, if you buy a Fitbit they don't charge you for the gps and the steps/sleep history.
First, you can't setup the collar with a Pixel 6. Then they send a new base but you can't add it so you can actually setup and use the collar. There's supposed to be a menu button in the app to add new bases but it doesn't exist. Bad product and useless app.
Update 4: Still has minor issues but the last month I have seen major improvements in customer service. Still has issues with tracking distance and steps when on routine walks, but lost dog mode has been an absolute game changer for when my Husky gets away. If you have a runner or are fearful of your dog taking off, well worth the money.
I like it and it's been working pretty good. I problem I have noticed is his step count. It seems to go down all the time. He does 25 to 30 thousand steps a day. The next day I check his total steps and it is going down not up? How can he be losing step counts? Tracking part seems to still work great. Step count is not working right.
Like it so far, I think the GPS is good, not very accurate, but gets me in the ballpark, also not concise on walks we've taken. Nice unit, netter then the ones I see out there now. Now it seems as the battery goes done, now at 87%, I get no registration at all. I just took him out and got no confirmation. I have nothing saying anything about any updates
Push for pay service. After this upgrade I can't scroll thru activity without an alert to learn about subscription service. I will pay for the service if I need it, but don't make the app unseable if choose not to pay for LTE service. I already paid for the dog collar to track daily activity and steps. Don't penalize me for not needing the LTE service. I tried the free month, it was inaccurate and a useless service for me, especially when the activity was tracked better thru the GPS on my phone.
I am changing my review from 5 stars to 1 star. It was reliable, it was dependable, and it did give me peace of mind. Not anymore. Now it doesn't connect to the base collar, gives false notifications my dog has left my apartment, doesn't keep track of walks, or even track when out and about town. Would not recommend to any pet owner hoping to keep track of their beloved pets.
I've had the Fi collar for several years. Was great for 6 months. then it started acting up. I live in the city with very good satellite. Very slow updates when my dog is on the run. my biggest complaint is the light on the collar has taken a mind of its own and I cant shut it off like its in lost dog setting. it also chooses its own color randomly. I also cant log into my account via my phone app or on my laptop to update my payment settings so my collar isn't even active. The collar has helped me find my dog a few times but much too slow pings overall when you have an active Labrador.
Good application but needs separate Escape Notification category. Everything under Miscellaneous Notification category. So I get many alerts instead of just the escape ones. I want to set a custom sound for when he escapea, aka Leaves safe zones.
The app does what it is designed to do when my dog gets away from me. However, it does not record where the dog goes when in lost mode. It only shows the current location. It would be very helpful if the app would save each gps location of the dog, not just show you where the dog is at that time. It would also be helpful if it would ping my dog's location every 30 seconds, instead of every minute when in lost mode. Overall, the collar is good for the size and battery life, but could be better.
