Few suggestions for 5* - Doesn't request root access when it needs it for system folders. Tells me that I need root, even though I have it (you just need to ask for it ...) - Preview of images when pressed - we don't need preview icons slowing things down, but if I select something a popup display would be nice rather than having to load an external viewer
I like that it has a dark theme. I like that it's simple. Very happy that there are no ads. But unfortunately it's lacking in some important functionality. I couldn't find an easy way to select multiple files. No thumbnails for images. Animations that can't be disabled (as far as I can tell). It has potential to be great. Needs work though.
The best thing that i like about this app is that it requires no unnecessary permissions, and that it does what it is supposed to. For an open -source software the graphics and fluency of the user experience truely is remarkable. The only thing that bothers me a little, is that it seems that you don't have a "gridded" view instead of the listed one
I've had a lot of problems just finding a nice, solid file manager that didn't want to stream ads to my tablet and ask for all kinds of permissions it ought not ask. Nice, trim, functional, and open source. The best file manager available. If there were a paid version, I'd buy it to support the developer.
The BEST GUI and design that I have seen on a file manager. Unfortunately, features are a little short in that icons don't show underlying photos. Still waiting for multi-select. Would also like to see running processes, but perhaps that would be feature creep.
A persons name is just because I like this app. Its a good app I would have never found if I wasnt lookin for a file app done by a real person & not a conglomerate. Maybe the little guys should be put first for all their hard work they put into their apps.
It is annoying when you're deleting music files and once youve deleted one song, the program throws you back at the top of your file list. Also, I just looked through my music files via the HTC media list and although I was unable to play a delted song, it still shows in the library. I'm a very low - tech person but even I know that is not right. Other than that I love how simple it is and the TOS is minimal and non-intrusive.
While File Explorer's UI is definitely nice and feels a bit more nicely suited for smartphones then IO File Manager trying to navigate might be a bit daunting for the average user since most people typically only care about managing there available storage also if it had a file extension management system for helping you find common file types such as documents, images, audio, video & application installers/.apk. Other than that its a nice quality open source file manager definitely worth trying out.
The best files explorer I have found for Android. Currently using it to navigate and play media from an Android 4.1 mini pc. The only small problem is that it asks me everytime which program to use to play .mkv files. Annoying, but still better than the many other file managers I've tried for this purpose.
This is the most generic file exploring app I've ever used!!! Although It's really not that bad of an application for how small it is, but its not what I wanted & I'm going to delete it & go for somethin totally different instead cuz it jus doesn't get the job done for me at all and I am willing to spare the megabyte to download one that does & will accesses "ALL" of my very important files!
The only thing stopping me from giving me from giving it the full five stars, is I'd like to be able to associate certain file types with a program. This isn't possible at the moment, you have to select the program each and every time. Otherwise very happy with this excellent, beautiful file manager.
I tried out a few others before this one and I'll be sticking with this. No ads or other tricky stuff - just a very decent app. It's a real credit to the developer. Thank you for this.
Only complaint is the lack of root directory support. We still have to turn to other, uglier apps to handle that.
Seeing as Google has removed Gallery, making it a nightmare to find screenshots, this is a godsend. And it works great.
The permissions are king with this app. Its very simple to use. No bugs at all compared to the bloated ad bearing competition and is under a megabyte. This deserves praise.
Design and performance are good. Had to play around with settings to get things right. One thing: the back button was not working properly until it was toggled off and back on. Also, needs multi-select, especially for zipping files.
Light, fast but I need multi-select and it should be folder up when I press back button, rather than exit the app
Simple but effective :3 the back button wasn't working properly but after changing the setting twice now it works fine.
This is the closest feeling to a native FM you will find. Thanks for being FOSS. BTW allows root :D
it really needs root access and it would be awesome if i could create a shortcut to a folder on my home screen
Would be great if it let you select more than one file at a time. Unfortunately without multi file select this is useless for me.
Nice file manager with smooth performance. If device didn't come with a good file explorer, then this is the perfect choice.
I wait for something like this for a long time. Very simple UI no stupid ugly color folders like in other file explorers. Simple, fast exactly how a file explore should be
Only thing I miss in this app is that it doesn't save my scrolled down position when doing different actions
Only needs storage permissions unlike other scammy apps. Nice work.
If you just want a file manager without all the permissions and privacys wooooh's this is it. Its simple and easy to navigate too.
Fantastic, nice folder application, but it would be five stars-worthy if it had the ability to multi-select files and folders.
The only reason I gave this 3 stars instead of the 5 it almost deserves is the fact that you can't select multiple files at one time, so copying and moving large groups takes forever. This is a needed feature for any file manager. Add this and it will be the best file browser I've ever used. Also, the holo theme is the best I've seen in a file manager.
As long as there is no root functionality, there is no use in this file browser. The UI is good. Also misses an option to have smaller folders and fontsize.
Check the default values for some shared preferences, they're messed up. The UI is good. Remove the quick actions from the list views. They remind of the Froyo era. Allow multiple selection for the contextual action bar. Add more information on the file/folder properties dialog; especially file size. Preferably read/write access.
