Files by Google: Clean up space on your phone

For me, at least, easily hands down the best storage and file management app out there. It's so dang easy to use. It practically handles your files for you. It doesn't have all the in-depth, complex functionality that some of the others do, but it's all you need and more for everyday file and storage handling. Google handles most apps with ease, and this is no exception.

The best file manager I've had so far. The app makes it easier for me to access my files since it categorizes which is which (like photos, videos, etc.). And it also allows you to easily free up some storage (just based on my opinion). No issues or ads encountered so far, which is basically the reason why I love this app.

I've been using it for almost 2 years now and since the new update it has been lagging a lot, I can delete apk saying it was not installed(that's why I want to delete because it's not installed)it doesn't allow me to delete photos videos and folders. I don't like the appearance I the app since the update it has become ugly, and when I go to the apps section, the filter of apps are stupid, if you go to installed apps, nothing appears! Please fix the bugs and errors, but I guess it's fine, pls fix

The app works for the most part. I use a pixel 6. Crashes every now and then when I'm using it. Cut and paste options don't show up for some reason. Occasionally when you swipe to go back it will go to the beggining of your folder and not where you left off. The "safe folder" will reset to the beggining evey time you view something and go back which is super annoying.

I have been using this app for a year or so and it is very useful, especially when it comes to storage struggles, but i didn't quite like the new update because i just wanna move files to my sd card without moving them to another folder but you need to choose a folder before moving so its a bit of a problem especially for students like me who has alot of files in different folders, so i suggest to pls. Take the old version back, when i can still move files to the sd card without moving it

fairly good at my previous device. but after change my device to Samsung, it takes forever to scan SD card files, and seems impossible to manage the files coz it's just keep buffering. hope fix this soon also in general it's kinda complicated and still takes time to scan the files every time when the app is opened. in comparison to my previous moto g6 file manager it's totally fast. one click on folder and the files all just pop up, no time wasted

Can be a little difficult to navigate. Especially since some apps (the ones that create files in the first place) like to use the same file names. But this app is otherwise functional and useful. I like the suggestions for moving or backing-up, and it's good that reassurance is provided for deleting things that are archived elsewhere.

On the face of it, it's great. Compatible with all kinds of files, it simplifies cross matching programs to open specific files. If only it was less insistent about "cleaning", tries with annoying regularity to delete files that haven't been opened for a while. I'd much prefer to make that decision myself rather than being hassled and badgered, if I wanted an opinion I'd certainly ask. I'd much rather it shut up and cease the uninformed advice.

DON'T use the safe folder! The app can suddenly decide to delete all of your files without notice! Many people have had this problem and there is no solution. I was told to seek out a professional file restoration company. I cannot believe that the developers have not addressed this problem yet, or at least made a way to get your files back when this happens.

Great app, super convenient. When I need some extra space, or just want to get rid of unwanted garbage, or old downloads, or apps, I can just click on my storage button in my pull down bar and it goes to the file app. I like how it'll give me the option to clean my junk files, also any duplicate downloads. You can also go through all your pics, games and apps and clean anything you don't want in one convenient app.

This app saves me so much time. I have been using it for months and I have not had any issues. I'm able to free up storage within a matter of seconds, I receive notifications of editing suggestions for photos, like photo quality, slideshows, cinematic photos, and more. I also really like that it asks the names of people and animals in your photos, and it creates folders for every picture the person or animal is in. Its a great app.

This app allows me to free up storage with in seconds and it's very useful. It gives me a notification whenever I need to delete storage (which is not often) and it gives me info on apps I haven't used and apps that waste storage and how to get more storage. It only takes a few seconds of your time and it doesn't bother you after that and your phone works the same after. Very efficient. It's all free (after you delete photos, files, apps etc. You get all the storage back) 100% recommend

this app is very good. but three things i believe will make it even better are; 1. a proper music player that can sort out albums, artists, genres, etc. as well as the option to repeat a song or shuffle songs. 2. to be able to rename multiple files at the same time. 3. to be able to fit a video into different types of screen sizes.

I tried to check out the app's features hoping 'This will be the one"🤞 Pro: I was able to open "document" files and switching between them was easy. What I want is the details of what's in the 7 gigs of "Other" in my 'Storage'! But it wouldn't open or expand the already limited number of sub categories. It shouldn't be so hard to access MY files on MY phone! It's bad enough they 'sort' and rearrange photos, I feel like Google is the 'middle man' deciding what I am "allowed" to access.

I think this new version of this app has got a bug that needs to be fixed asap. The 'recent' and 'categories' interface isn't reading the files from my SD Card and my SD Card is not damaged too. Its only displaying content from the phone's storage. I have restarted the phone have sent some files to the SD Card in an effort to make it appear in the 'recent' but there's nothing to show for with all these efforts. Please do something about this anomaly. It wasn't like this before so why now?

Just what I needed! This app's suggestions break it down for me, otherwise it's simply too time consuming and overwhelming to manage phone storage..(I always put it off until storage is so full that I have no choice). Always afraid to delete backed up photos, etc. This app assures me they are saved and where to access them. Love it!!!

Could be more useful, like Windows XP. Like allow me to find files, or restore the previous version of say "messenger" so it won't keep crashing, with nothing that I can do, because I can't see system or application related files. Overall good though because it is a way to try harder to troubleshoot your phone or find whatever file you're trying to find

Very useful for easily deleting temporary files that are just taking up space by sitting there and doing absolutely nothing. It's also great at displaying duplicate photos, screenshots and infrequently used apps, in a simple and intuitive manner, and makes it super easy to delete those photos/screenshots and uninstall apps you may not be using. Simple yet quite useful.

Helps keep me on top of excess clutter that's not needed. And it's Not constantly bothering several times a day or week, as needed and that's it! And I love the fact that the files it suggests I might get rid of, it's not just, ok or decline. My phone actually does tht, this app let's me go thru piece by piece, not just delete 20 or 30 things without being able to see them. Still love it!

Very Good App, but could still be improved. Some more features and options could be added in settings of the application. One of which that I can remember right now is, adding an option to disable the "Recent" section in "Browse" page of the application. Or, atleast move the "Recent" section to someplace which is not directly accessible after opening the "Browse" page of the application.

Well rounded and decent UI all in all. Used this app for many years, as it has always been a stock installation on all my Android devices. I would be more inclined to give five stars if they had some updates including more editing options. As well as maybe some better instructionals (how to's) on doing things like Google photos does with automatic colleges and slideshows creations.

I've probably downloaded more cleaner apps over the years than any other type of app. This one is by far the best one I've ever used. It's a no nonsense cleaner and file explorer. You won't find anything intrusive. No ads, no paid versions, no features that need permission to run. Plus, if you don't like it you can uninstall it.

This app has good features that help me manage storage space quickly. I had hoped it would give me a single event to clear the cache of all apps. It has the feature but would not function fully on my phone for some reason. I must still clear the cache of apps individually for now. My phone does not provide the comprehensive clear cache utility many phones have. The reason might be the same root cause.

I recently switched from IOS to Android and Files is a breath of fresh air when it comes to overall optimization and de-cluttering my device. With suggestions as to which files can be cleared and direction in transferring files to my Micro SD card, I will not worry about looking for another manager. Files syncs all of my important documents and photos between my internal and external storage drives, as well as a full back up of my Nokia G10 to my goggle drive. Productivity made easy!

Kindly allow stuff to be copied from the shortcuts e.g documents folder, pics videos etc. It is really hectic and hard to find files in their respective folder and to go all the way there. Kindly provide some ease to us. All other file managers provide it. It is most unbelievable that you still haven't provided it. Why do you have to make things so hard?

This app does'nt open files as expected and sometimes it fails to open at all. Takes time to launch. The safe folder keeps searching every time i enter the pin. This app is a waste of time especially if you,want to go through your files faster. It never used to be like this a while ago. Seems like all of google services are messed up. I hope gmail remains strong.

Helps me keep my phone clean and organized. So often, these days, this little computer in my pocket keeps more junk files and unnecessary copies than I even know. It regularly, but but too often as to be annoying, offers to help me figure out which files are taking up space for no reason. I wouldn't change a thing, I love using it!
