I've uninstalled the NYFF app after having it on for a few days, once I saw that it was far and away the biggest data consumer on my phone after my web browser. I'd been wondering why my battery was draining so quickly as well. I have no idea why it was consuming so much data, since I never saw any videos on it. The schedule doesn't let you actually mark the showings you have planned to go to -- just a generic 'favorite' for films but not for the specific showings. You can't buy tix via the app. There is only one positive benefit I can find -- you get about 20 minutes earlier notification before email arrives of last-minute ticket availability announcements -- but as I said, you then have to go to a desktop computer (or the box office I guess) to actually purchase the tix. Lets hope next year the app is more useful and not such a battery and data drain.
