Love the service but the Android app is lacking desperately in some important areas. When casting to the TV you lose the ability to skip by 30 seconds or have any reasonable level of control over setting where you are in the film. If you pause a film to come back to it later it doesn't seem to be near to where you stopped- which wouldn't be as much of a problem if the first issue wasn't there.
Customer service is unable to resolve my problem accessing the server. I have rebooted and uninstalled app to no avail. Each time I need to view a movie I need to enter email and password. I was able to view a movie on day one day two I cant access the server. The app doesn't recognize my cellphone number like Prime or Hulu. The movie library is great but rates a zero if I can't access anything.
For those who are in love with film, this was an absolute treasure. A place to watch favorites and to discover those films we've missed or have just come across -- of all genres, decades and countries. This is a great loss!
I only wish more older titles would become available. I am a classic movie fan. Sometimes it is necessary for me to buy a DVD just to be able to watch a desired title. Otherwise you provide an excellent service!
PROS: best movie selection of any streaming service You can see all their films available great video quality will tell you when movies are leaving Shows what you haven't finished Cons (probably will change since they are only two years old) Can't cast on smart tv No auto play or playlist
I could never ask for more. This is the greatest streaming service that has ever been. I feel so lucky to have seen such diverse, iconic, and artistic films made throughout the world and throughout time all thanks to this wonderful app. I am deeply saddened to see it go.
The only streaming service available right now to wacht classic and legendary films. Unfortunately, is going to shot down at the end of November, 2018! I hope the company-owners of Filmstruck and Criterion Films reconsider that decision for the sake of the millions of cinephiles ( included me) that won't be having access anymore to these wonderful films and willl be left without this important and necessary app, where else will we go to wacht them now?! Please, don't take Filmstruck away!
Great film collection. App works pretty well, but occasional gets stuck and has awkward navigation. Still, it's worth it for the library of classic films.
Cancelled the free trial. Frustrated that the app is not compatible with Sony Bravia. Never getting an Apple TV so I'll have to wait to throw money at TCM/Criterion until this issue is fixed.
Guess I'm echoing what many others have said. Just downloaded the app today, and have not been able to get through a single film because of the lousy connectivity to Chromecast.
Good quality movies and selections, could be a few more interesting selections in the classic category. Overall a good choice.
I can't believe Filmstruck is going away. How can you do this? This is really important to a lot of people. How many commercial ventures can you say people actually love? It's sickening that this is going away while garbage like Netflix is still around.
So very disappointed they are discontinuing Filmstruck. Why? It has such value and interest. TCM needs a streaming service. This was a wonderful alternative.
Please don't cancel this service, I think it has much potential. Those in charge should give it another year and advertise it through sponsors. It will be a shame to see a well developed service die so soon. Hopefully those in charge of it will see this and reconsider their decision to cancel it so early in its life. I can see how it can be perceived as entertaining a niche market, but I personally don't see that as a good enough reason to cancel it. If an app like mubi can thrive, why can't this?
Please do not shut down this app. If. ATT just marketed it a bit, I am sure it would pay. Without marketing, it took me a year and a half to find it. I watch it every day, and would gladly pay more for it.
FANTASTIC! It is exactly what I was looking for at a great price. But at the end of November, its all over and I am BROKEN HEARTED!😭 Please, don't go! I can't get my Old Hollywood anywhere else.
Great layout and good selection. Hope to see more focus on Criterion films as people become more aware of the app.
Really enjoy the ability to watch movies I love and save to watch list so I can watch them at a future time.
Brilliant service and the access to such a vast library of cinematic classics is a treasure. I really hope this service lives on and isn't cancelled. It'd be a tragedy in the film community
These studios are cleaning house to make more money. This is one of the best movie streaming apps yet they are shutting it down. Asses....
One of the best (and only) places to find old classic movies. Hoping this will come back in some form in the future. My g/f and I need classic movies in our lives!
Great for Film buffs. Great selection from 'Silent Era' to, present. Kubrick to 'Kaiju'. 'Classic Hollywood', Foreign Cinema, 'Noir', 'Indie' and, 'B-Movies' to boot.
A beautiful platform for essential films. So grateful FilmStruck lasted for as long as it did.
Fans of either or both criterion collection and tcm have hours and hours of entertainment and insight right at their fingertips. A true haven for the cinephile
It does not let paste my password for sign in. I know it sounds crazy but some people use password managers.
Wonderful app, wonderful service, I'll be sad to see it go under. Damn you, AT&T, you soulless cretins
Amazing service that should live on forever! Criterion and TCM give me so much joy and artistic inspiration!
Just awful- desyncs with Chromecast, freezes, skips around in movie- and this had been going on for YEARS. They've had plenty of time to fix all this and they refuse to. Mind you, I've got plenty of other video apps- Showtime, HBO, Netflix, that all work great from my phone to Chromecast. I would just use it on PS4, but guess what- they've promised an app there for years and still won't deliver. I'm out $200 (two years of service) to completely watch maybe five movies all the way though. In short: complete garbage. Avoid like the plague.
