Filtrete™ Smart

First would not connect to Google Home, had to switch browsers to Chrome - then would connect but not find device; removed filter from app to re-add, now says "Locked Smart Filter Found". Instructed to call the help line!? No info online, even on Filtrete site. Really wanted to like this, but it is too much hassle, and for what? Something I managed to do on my own before. Needing to call to delete your account is also pretty suspect.

When I try to connect to the filter it gives an error message saying that I don't have any internet connection. And there's no way of exiting that error message, except to close and reset the app completely.

Complete BS. The app basically just counts the days. Don't bother with this app and DON'T spend the extra money on the BT filters. Filterete filters have shown themselves through multiple tests to filter all they say they do, and with better airflow than most. But this is just a gimmick. Put the filter changes on your calendar and ignore the temptation to get another "smart" thing. Don't waste your money.

I really enjoy this app. It's really helpful when you have kids that have asthma and allergies! I would have given it five stars except for one thing; the Bluetooth disconnects on its own pretty regularly and has to be reconnected by opening the app. there doesn't seem to be an apparent reason for this either.

Too technical just to get a filter change reminder. That's a big turn off. Ask for too much personal info just to get a reminder. That's ridiculas!

Great filter though some dust still gets through the system. If our HAVAC system can handle it we would like to use the 2" or 4" thick filters in the future.

I thought this was a good idea. But it won't let you use the app unless you give the app permission to constantly tract your location at all times. I tried to select ask my permission every time and then I tried only use location when app is used and it won't let you unless you give them access to always track location. No thanks. Deleting app. Don't waste your time

The app had always been helpful in the past. However I just replaced my filter and scanned it to the app. And now I keep getting emails from Filtrete stating that my filter needs replaced

Every time I try to add the widget to my home screen it gives the an error message You currently do not have any Air Quality devices in the Filtrete Smart App. please try again. But I do. You apps keeps resetting and using the wrong smart filters I have installed. Widget isn't working

Wants Location Access all the time. Dude. No. It's an air filter. In my home. 3M doesn't need access to my phone's location at all times. Yes, I saw your explanation of why. App used to allow me to replace my filter but now I can't get past it without sharing PII.

Nice to know when to change your filter and appreciate the autoship. I just wish there was a way to have the transmitter mounted deeper into the filter. Difficult to remove the filter after use.

Works great,most people don't pay attention how fast and dirty a filter can get.By checking the app I'm able to change filter when I should.

it is not easy to reset the app using a new filter. it wants to use your location all of the time.

pain to "pair" and then doesn't take 2 months and it says to replace. I have a 2013 heat pump set on auto for using current heating. It's been either fairly warm or extremely cold in 7 day cycles. I also need to rechaulk some windows and actual electrical usage has gone up slightly since 2013. This added to be fair to 3M and reason I bought a five pack was to eliminate particulates and aerosols in the home.

Works great, very helpful to know current status and capacity of your filter to maximize use and not replace prematurely or (more importantly) too late.

I can get the app to work with the filter, I can't get the app connected to Google home. it seems that because the low-power bluetooth connection isn't persistent, and you can't connect this app to Google home without an actively connected filter, you can't actually connect this app to Google home. it's similar with the widgets, but at least repeated attempts seem to work. when you try to connect this app to home, after connecting a filter, it says there's no filter connected.

Frustrating waste of my evening installing this app on two top end devices and it always hangs up on the location of the filter part. Needs to be easy and work. Come on 3m, get it together we expect better!!

Having the filtrete smart air filter has been the best addition to my HVAC system. I can always tell the filter health anytime anywhere with the filtrete app. It also makes ordering replacement a very simple process

I was happy with this app previously however it seems whenever you get down to around 30% of life left it fails to connect anymore. According to the website it said email for help. I did and the email responded with call us that is absolutely pointless and I'm not going to waste my time I won't buy these filters in the future

great way to monitor my filter condition. Spring and fall, it lasts longer. winter and summer, shorter life. much better than time or visual inspection.

There is no justifiable need to require location access to my device. Reselling location data is not worth the extremely basic functionality this app provides. Not only will I not be using the app, I will avoid using these filters going forward, just a waste.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! Literally right after installing it said data breach and to change my password. The location sucks and was 67 miles off and I could not change it. Instead had to add a second location and with the data breach who knows where I live now... And remember, a 1900 or higher filter is going to restrict airflow more even if clean. So a 2500 even 25% dirty is going to make your HVAC work harder.

I've only used the regular (non-smart) filters--it had me set up an account, put the filter in, and then I just wanted it to notify me (i.e., with a notification) when 90 days had gone by. I noticed that it had been about 14-15 weeks, so I checked the app, and sure enough, zero days left...I just have no idea when the days were up, because I received no notification. Calendar is better than this.

I'm sad.. I've spent good money on a filter that should be reporting to my phone anytime I open this app.. It only connected for the first time to set it up and never again, not even if I'm 6 inches away... Save your money a get a different filter.

it might work fine but I can't delete the location it picked up. I don't live in the location. how do I delete it ? and yes location is on on my phone

Having problems connecting to filters. I can be standing right next to the furnace and it will not connect. It also keeps forgetting my login info.

it's easy to replace, just scan the bar code in the app and the timer is set to remind you to change the filter when the time is up. Filtrete, keep up the good work .

got as far as the Draconian terms of service, and will uninstall once this review is posted. I want an easy way to know when to change my air filter, this ain't it -- I guess Google Calendar gets that job.

I absolutely loathe how many permissions this app demands to be enabled 24/7 just use their smart filters. Why do you need my gps/ location permission to be available 24/7 when Bluetooth is really all that is necessary? Just let me know when I need to change the goddamn filter & quit monitoring my location & violating my privacy! >:[

Filtrete is a good product, but the app needs an audible alert with reminder that uses a minimal amount of resources just to track the dates, or even a calendar activated alert that's triggered by the barscan.
