FINAL FANTASY III -
- now on Android!

First released in 1990, FINAL FANTASY III was the first title in the FINAL FANTASY series to become a million-seller, establishing once and for all that Square Enix's classic RPG saga was here to stay. The full 3D remake released in 2006 duplicated the original's success, selling over a million copies worldwide.

FINAL FANTASY III was a hallmark of innovation for the entire series, from the job system that lets characters change classes at any time to the ability to summon powerful creatures such as Shiva and Bahamut.

When darkness falls and the land is robbed of light, four youths are chosen by the crystals to set forth on a journey to save the world.

This was as well-done as I could have hoped, for a mobile port of Final Fantasy. The touch controls are totally fine, and easy to get used to, but the app does support using a controller instead, if you want. It has two options for different button configurations if you do. The graphics look pretty good, for what they are. I personally would prefer clean 2D graphics over the blocky 3D ones that it has. But I really enjoyed the game and played it all the way through. Lots of fun.

This game can best be described as 'Final Fantasy Improved'. The third entry in the series essentially added in a lot of nice things that the original game did not have - such as a story, the ability to change jobs, and using spells to interact with the environment. The port was perfect and never did I feel the controls holding me back from playing. However, for all the good points of the game, one failing it has is that its story and gameplay were abit bland and generic. Maybe overpriced.

A brilliant remake of a brilliant game. The job system allows for so many different approaches to gameplay, and really allows for unique expression of character. My only nitpick would be that the gap between the final boss and the endgame Superboss is irritatingly large, and it's a bit of a pain to grind out, but aside from that, this game is almost perfect. 9.9/10

If you are new to the Final Fantasy franchise, I recommend you play this Android version of FF3 (on a TV with a gamepad) before any other version or any other series game; the normal character skill selection and story details that you expect in most RPGs is pushed back in FF3 until after you have tried out basic combat and exploring. Also, battles aren't triggered if you don't move, and once they've started, they're fully turn-based. So you can always take your time and relax with this game.

Great Update, this is for sure the best way to play this game now, looks great on 21:9 screens, on Note 10 it is truly edge to edge. Auto battle does indeed make for way faster grinding. The game itself is unabashedly old school and pretty light on story but there's something very charming about FF3. It's a good one to just pick up and play a bit of without needing to fully turn on your brain, tho I would advise a walk through because it's confusing to know where to go

Now this game feels a lot better being played using a bluetooth/USB controller on a larger screen, (especially if you are using a Chromebook device and can input the screen to an HDMI compatible tv using an HDMI cable) I would love to see more of the older Final Fantasy Android ported games get updates like this for controller and large screen support! (Specifically Final Fantasy I, Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy IV, and Final Fantasy IV: The After Years)

This is my first Final Fantasy game if you don't count Chrono Trigger as one. The game seemed fine until I found out that this was originally released for NES (8 bit version) which gave me new found appreciation for it. Pros : 1. Storyline (quite massive for its time) 2. Soundtrack (especially Crystal Tower) 3. Job system (adds replayability) 4. Huge map to explore 5. Auto battle mode Cons : 1. Boring monster designs given this is a remaster (nitpicking)

Easily one of the best JRPG games I've played (so far) next to PS IV and FF IV. Gameplay overall is great, though the story sort of lacks the dynamics and depth when it comes to the motivations behind the actions of villains. It just seems as if the evil entities u deal with in this game simply show up and mess around for absolutely no reasonable/relatable cause. This, & the lack of side quests (perhaps I'm simply imposing an anachronistic standard here), are what kept me from giving it 5 stars.

Maybe back in the day when choices were slim I would have liked this game a little better. I mean the digital graphics are alot better. But the game overall not. Lots of back and forth and forced to class change often in order to continue the story. You might as well not even have options of class because you'll always have to change set up. Kinda ruins the imagination of just picking a crew a set and going on a story. I think I prefer it that way.

This game was really good. I would have given it a 5 star rating but the compared to the kinds of games you can get on the google play store for free, $15 is a bit much. Especially when you are also considering the fact that this is just a port of a ds game. However, something that was unexpected was how well optimized the game was. I was using a very cheap android phone and the game ran very well. I will also praise the game for having controller support. It's uncommon to see an android game that actually has controller support, and (atleast with the 8bitdo SF30 pro controller) it works well. I think this game is definitely worth playing if the price doesn't seem too much for you.

Great FF title and a strong mobile port. The game does have a few design flaws that make certain sections feel unfair at a few certain points. For the most part however, it is fun to experiment with jobs and the tactics that come with them and the game is designed well around this on the whole.

Ok, I loved all the Final Fantasy games as they were released in the U.S. back in the 90s. I am totally enjoying replaying them all on android! (2 is still kind of a ... drag). I think it is worth the money to get the whole franchise on your phone! I have every intention of doing so. I am currently on 3, and It's perfect for us who played it way back when... Enjoy the game! Also, there are plenty of free walk-throughs for those who like to master every little detail of these games!

Putting the game in the background will exit the game so make sure to save. Other then that, it's like the 2D, good! (That and the fact you can't save during the last 2 dungeon)

Finally!!! A perfect remake! I use a samsung Galaxy tablet so the controls for me were excellent, the quality is great the battle interface is awesome and allows you to auto duel, or auto grind lol. And the speed and flow of the game is way better then original. Its sad square has to remake the older titles because they cant make a decent final fantasy after 9, x was okay, but they went downhill after. This gives me hope for the next remakes. 5 stars for the real ff fans. Plus its cheap!

Final Fantasy III. The final title in the Famicom trilogy and some would say the best one. The game runs way smoother than FFI and FFII on Android and is a great one-to-one port of FFIII DS. Unlike FF1 and FF2, this game features the art gallery and shows you some concept art for the characters and setting for the opening cutscene. Would highly recommend to someone who is looking to play the third entry and missed the DS Version.

One of the best RPG's I've ever played. An amazing story and great exploration (but not overwhelming). The game can become difficult but that makes all the wins and loses so much more rewarding and teaching.

I love this game and the port was done amazingly well. I've played and replayed it and it's probably the only Final Fantasy that I see myself doing so. But I will give you the worst rating I can for all the unnecessary permissions that I'm oblige to give to you just to play an OFFLINE game. When I bought this game years ago I didn't need to give all the info in my phone to be able to play this. It's disgusting what you do to exploit your customers and your ports of ports are extremely expensive.

I didn't like it but that's just me. I can appreciate the fact that it spawned the jobs mechanic, and for its time it was probably alright but there is simply better nowadays. Played it only to say that I played all the main series final fantasy games. The story wasn't memorable, and the jobs system is super clunky (FF5 got it right later on). Some fights are really rough because character speed seems random. One turn all your guys go first, then the boss goes last and uses its ultimate ability. Next turn boss goes first and uses its ultimate ability; so you get party wipe. Also whoever made that final dungeon/boss is one evil mf.

Brilliant recreation of an early final fantasy. Works well and cloud saving is a brilliant feature (scumming quick saves is brilliant as you can only properly save on the world map!) Story is pretty good but it is no FFVII or X in that department. Gameplay is good but the game heavily relies on you using a character with healing magic. Jobs are interesting as their first introduction but only difference are single commands/magic compared to more developed systems in FF Tactics and X-2

I have an Xperia 1 so the recent full screen update was greatly appreciated. I can now play this game in 21:9 ultra wide on my 21:9 4k OLED screen and the game looks fantastic. Also gamepad support has been added since I last tried the game, very much appreciated! Would be great to see final fantasy 4 and war of the lions get the same treatment :)

Never played Final Fantasy, so why not give it a try? I must say this game is fabulous. Story is excellent, gameplay is good and now I became fan of ff series. Love it. If you never played a final Fantasy before I must say you should start from here. But it lacks tutorials. Thanks to my pokemon skills that makes this game easy to understand :P

Pho. G. Oct 7, 2020

Definitely one of the hardest final fantasy games. The job system here is new and shows it rough beginnings. The job system is nice but the game play undermines the choices. As long as you have a balanced party and do most of the side content you should be okay. A big negative to this game is that it does not have a proper continue unlike FF4 so boss battles have unfair high stakes at times so be prepared. Overall though it's not that bad and has a lot charm just seems hard for a "kids" game

Not a good way to play the game. You'll be doing finger gymnastics to get through options and menus. Game drains battery. No option for refund, even before the 2 hour period. I messages SE about a refund since I find the game to be unplayable, but they said no since there was no issue with the game itself. Okeii thanks for that. Play on DS or PSP instead.

Forget about all existing reviews , this new update has added much needed life into an existing port. This game now feels like it was made for Android with fullscreen support, auto battle, and cloud saves. I really hope more of these upgrades are released for other great Square Enix games as well , Great Stuff !

Got it for a fraction of $1 during sale. It's wicked. More so for the suprisingly low storage space required. Square would make massive turnovers if they priced their other overly expensive FFs similarly.

An amazing port. Never crashed once in the continuous 12hrs I played and even after that. Need more ports like this especially for the older games. I feel like if all the ports were like this more people would buy them.
