Needs far better search function. Need to filter by custom dates. Without this search function is pretty useless if you want to go back months or years. Not sensitive to the wording of the search string. Brings up results only loosely related and puts them at the top purely because they're recent (rather than relevant). We need easy access to larger archive. FT website for android browsers needs a button that allows us to read in the app. Font size should be halved.
2 of the biggest issues I have with the app: 1. I when I click on content from other social media platforms it doesn't acknowledge that I am already a logged in subscriber. So then I either have to login again to see premium content or go to the app and search for the content. Neither of which are optimal journeys. 2. The search results don't always bring up relevant stories and it can be difficult to find the content you are looking for. Other than that I love the app and it is my goto news
The app works well and since the "news feed" feature was added it is more useful. Would have liked to have an option to see the actual layout of newspaper pages rather than a messy website.
Well thought out, good progression on features like audio. Would be better if I could adjust the play back speed of the stories and the screen going dark didn't stop play back when your phone is in your pocket
The app combines the aesthetic of the paper version with an enhanced reader experience. The articles are beautifully hyperlinked to previous relevant articles and original materials and accompanied by further recommendations for reading. I am delighted to be a subscriber.
Clean, very readable app. I only have small complaints, occasionally it fails to load and needs a 2nd try; and I wish I could keyword-search within articles.
From time to time the app does not allow access to articles, informing me that my membership does now include access rights to top stories or other arties, while my membership does provide access to all articles published by FT. The help service is useless, because I complained severa days ago and still no answer from customer service...and one knows how much the membership costs...just frustrating
The app is very well made, fluid and easy to use. I particularly appreciate the myFT section and the possibility to "subscribe" to specific topics and receive notifications whenever a new related article is out. Until not long ago, each article displayed an estimate of its reading time on top; this has recently disappeared - I found that function very useful and would love to see it back in place.
Content is great and we'll worth the subscription. The app's UX is generally slick and easy to use. However the Android app itself 'feels' heavy. Articles (and comments) are slow to load compared to other news apps. The transitions between screens feel slow as well. The front page doesn't automatically refresh on app open either - you have to manually refresh yourself which feels like an odd design decision relative to every other app out there.
The app has two glaring issues, which makes it a pain to use. When you open an article through a notification, it rarely opens the correct one; leading you to hunt for it. This wouldn't be the end of the world, if it prominently displayed these articles; which it doesn't. The other issue is that some major political events aren't displayed in notifications, so I've missed important information. I love the Financial Times, but this app doesn't do it justice.
Generally good app experience pairs well with paper. I bought a physical subscription to spend more time off my phone and the quality of the reporting is very, very good. I appreciate a strong focus on facts, material conditions, and relevant historical context. FT really feels like an organization that trusts readers to come to their own conclusions without trying to push the common, easy, often overly simplistic narratives in the rest of news today.
Listening feature needs work. It's pretty good but the second you swipe to the homescreen or out the phone to sleep the voice has all this static. It doesn't even appear in the notification panel either which is weird even though it's playing in the background. Without a fully realised listening function the app is mediocre at best.
Great news source, pretty good app. NYT has more interesting and advanced graphics and presentation, but the news from FT is unparalleled.
frustratingly difficult to subscribe - I've paid for the subscription through Google Play, but my FT account is bugged and i don't have access to all the news articles? please help
Excellent journalism, the app is rock solid. Occasionally the headline does not take you to the story
Considering the FT subscription cost, this app is poor. Content maybe excellent, but you can only change font of an article but not the font of headlines to the article... where's the logic? 🤔 Same for the news feed. Makes the app useless on a mobile compare with say the Guardian
Articles listing could be configurable, instead of being centered on London caput mundi, followed by the US, followed by Europe. In this, it resembles the Economist. Costs it one star. Obsessively asking whether it is easy to use more than once per day. Second star gone.
Love the FT, a fantastic news resource that always has a good take. The app could be improved, feels a little clunky and the flow a little unclear because categories not always apparent or relevant.
Great news source and content, the ux of the app could be improved, especially the feed page. Also, paid subscribers should not see ads! This is fairly common practice in the US market, seems that as a foreign publication, FT hasn't realized that this is an expectation.
Love it - my one, reliable news source. Comprehensive, so many topics and interests to choose from to build a personalized experience. My favorite is the short podcasts that round up the morning, week, etc.
The app is very intuitive, one of the better UI designs, the interface does not clutter the contents. The app is as good as the journalism of FT.
Responsive app, informative news content. I think they strive the right balance of free articles per month before subscription must apply.
Love the FT & read it every day. But I have noticed a new problem. When answering posts within a conversation accessed through "my profile" the screen goes enormous making it very difficult to type on my android phone.
Hello FT team, I have just downloaded your android application but I am struggling to view my market watchlist saved in my web account.. only the portfolio is visible, is there any way that I can I view my watchlist as well on the application beside the market and portfolio news.
Good but slightly awkward to navigate and not free. Guardian does it better on both counts albeit content not as good.
Actually a very decent app, lm really impressed by all the impressed by all the improvements. Chief among my favourites is your experimental Amy l think it is. l love hearing the articles. As long as the subscription at around $NZ65 a month, im a happy camper for a premium subscription. A hard bargain l know. I pay for great stuff. Thanks.
The app continually reopens a previous article, even when clicking on different news stories from my phone's notification drawer. The only way to stop this behaviour is to leave the article, going back to the FT 's headlines, then force close the app.
This is a first-rate app, probably the best news app available. I've been reading (and now listening also) for years. The FT's world coverage is excellent and the design is clear and easy on the eye. The only thing is the old logo that still sits at the top of the Android version! Needs updating. Otherwise, hard to fault.
