Find me a Box

App Introduction:
With the rapid development of smart devices, people tend to spend more time on the Internet and less time going outside and doing exercise. It seems that most of young people are more likely to stay at home on the weekends rather than go hiking or go camping. The Internet has brought us much more conveniences but people should not ignore the negative impact on them, being less health due to the lack of outdoor exercises. This app aims to encourage people to go outdoors more frequently and discover the beauty of the real world. In this app, you can share your memories in the form of a virtual box based on your location.

Prerequisites:
There are only three things to confirm: firstly make sure that your Android API is no less than API 19. Secondly you need to have Google play services with newest version installed in your phone. Finally you need a Google account to log in in the app.

Getting Started:
[Drop a box] After you log in with a Google account, it leads you to a main interface where a map displays. Select ‘Drop’ on the top left and you are able to edit the text in a box. You can also set this box private, and in that way only you can discover this box. By default a box is public. Select ‘Drop!’ when you are ready to share your memory!

[Discover a box] The map is used to discover the locations of all the boxes. You can find red gift markers on the map. If you select a box, you’ll see the title and a navigation button which navigates you to the place of this box. You can’t see the content in the map except for using our fancy Augmented Reality technology. After you see there are some boxes around you, you can select ‘pick’ button. Your camera will open to allow you find red markers in the real world. If you are luck to find one, select it (Wait...It’s not easy to select a box so try your best!) and I’ll leave what will happen next. Try it by yourself now!

[View dropped boxes] Select ‘My boxes’ at bottom in the main interface and it leads you to a dropped boxes list interface where you are able to view all the boxes you have dropped. You can also view the detail of each box, including coordinates, status(public/private), date, title and content. There is a ‘show on map’ button which navigates you to the place where you have dropped that box.

More features in the future
This is the first version of this app. It is not perfect but we are trying our best. According to user feedback in beta version, we know that more features can be developed such as an option to hide boxes that have dropped by this user, leaving a message under a box and adding images and videos in a box. Additionally, if you have any comment and suggestion about this app, please feel free to tell us. Just send an email to [email protected]. We are very happy about every feedback!
