Currently, the app has very poorly implemented document image view functionality: viewing transcriptions in the app is fine, but viewing a document as an image is poorly implemented. The image viewer controls do not scale and centre to the device viewport, nor does the image options toolbar. Please fix this broken functionality to provide a reasonable image viewing experience in the Android app.
Diabolical app. Constant crashes. When you spend time in studying a hint, accepting the facts and hit merge, it stalls, dumps you back to the hints page. Have cancelled my subscription and moving my tree elsewhere after the trial. I have been with my heritage for 4 years as a premium user and thought it's mobile app was bad but find my past app is just a cheap awful joke!
Avoid like the plague. Paid £13 a month for subscription to access the 1921 UK census information - only to find out they want an extra £2.50 per transcript. Honestly can't believe how poor the software and app are and how much money they want for this shocking service
Less functional than the mobile website. How can I get to see my tree? All I can find is a list of people. If I go to hints all that does is filter out those without hints. I'm trying to understand what value the app adds. Utterly annoying and frustrating.
It looks good and is easy to put details in for a search but scrolling through results is impossible as it keeps jumping to latest blog posts section. Very annoying
Very buggy; clicking on hints takes you to an empty screen. Authors more interested in displaying swish icons than information; e.g. half the 'name + dates' icon real estate is the male/female icon, causing dates to drop off bottom. Overlay icons obscure information and are not movable.
Terrible don't touch charging us for a subscription but yet no option to unsubscibe when you log in to the account... And still being charged for the account despite assurances from the support team that no more changes would be made.
It only has the option to sign in. No way to create a new account. What a waste of time and energy. It sounded like a cool app. Do they maybe have a website where you can sign up first?¿?
I like the hints in the app, the merge option is great, it's easier than online. I would like to be able to see a diagram of my family tree like you can online, I get confused as to who is related to whom. Otherwise I was quite pleased with the app. I have just noticed when you click a name in the hints list , there is a menu above their name for facts, hints ,relatives, so I can see whom their relations are.
I paid but couldn't view the record until I paid again. The page keeps saying error unable to load. A very poor and incompetent service.
Very limited app. Heavily dependent on browser. Useful to see hints and person count however no way to view tree or hide hints for later viewing. Hint list always goes back to the beginning so if you are halfway through 700 hints, you must scroll down the list repeatedly. No way to undo a merged hint. From Family, you can view limited relations but cannot go to them from this view. Glad the app is here, cannot wait for version 10 for the functionality that is useful.
I am trying to log in to the app, but it says wrong email or password. I'm using the same email and password that I log in to the website with.
Very limited features compared with the Desktop. I cant imagine why anyone would use it. Findmypast has the best search and best records for researching UK family history. But no integrated DNA matching tools (affiliate link), no ability to share or view other family trees, no user messaging, no tree visualisation or presentation tools, and multiple trees cause corruption. I use them for research, I wouldn't use them for maintaining a tree. Once I've seen the 1921 census I won't use them again.
I'm beginning to really hate this app. So many unavailable functions. Can't switch between screens because the page always reloads (which is a HUGE pain when you're transferring over lots of info) can't add more that one set of parents (adoptive and biological) can't delete accidental transcripts, keeps making duplicates as I'm accepting hints (I don't even know how, but it does) not to mention the layouts is..... Meh. Please remind me again why I actually pay for this subscription? Humph.
Worked for about 24 hours. Long enough for me to upload my 2000+ member tree. Now it just logs me out instantly the moment I sign in with a 'session expired' message. Useless. UPDATED. Deleted the app and reinstalled. Working again. For now. UPDATED: Crashing again. Easier to delete and just leave uninstallled.
I love the app now I can view records on the app. But I would like to be able to see my tree too in pedigree mode. There's also an issue when viewing the records in the app it will show me onl 6 records to view the particular ancestor has 26 records so this a bug I belive FMP will find and fix.
Having reset my password twice, and received an acknowledgement from Google, it is still constantly rejected, with advice to contact service support for which no link is given. The app claims to work on all devices, but the password is rejected on my Android phone and tablet. More work needed on this app. I have deleted it.
Just downloaded the app as thought it would be quicker than on the web. However it is not recognising my log in details. I originally signed up on the website using Facebook, but I noticed the app did not let me log in with that. Logged back into my account through the website, set up log in details, then tried to log in again. I notice there seems to be many comments relating to this issue. Is a fix going to be put in place for it?
App crashes continuously, regularly doubles up people so you have to go onto the website to delete as there is no option to on the app. Now my tree has reached over 1000 people on it it won't let me use it. Answered hints and the notification won't go. Disappointing app.
Works well overall, but there are glitches/bugs in hints - swiping doesn't work properly in hints and the records are too big for the screen, so I haven't successfully managed to add a hint to a tree properly using the app.
Will not let me sign in. Error message says I have an Internet connection error which I don't! It also appears that Find My Past don't respond to negative feedback or attempt to help solve the problem, they only like praise. For a company of this scale who gladly take my subscription on the desktop version, this isn't good enough.....
I used to use Ancestry, but as a UK citizen with mostly UK ancestry, found Findmypast far more useful. This app is great, but the Ancestry app still has one important thing which this app doesn't; the ability to see your family tree rather than just a list of names (which makes it difficult to find someone when several people have the same name!). This facility is essential in a genealogy app so I don't understand why it still hasn't got it. Please add this urgently...and fingerprint login!
Lots of fascinating information but the PRINT function does not work.
The app is useless. I cannot view any of the trees I have on the site.
not a well thought through app. layout and navigation is awful. Options are limited. shame at desktop site is often better at search presentation options than ancestry.
Almost worthless for serious work due to lack of functionality. What can be edited? Birth, death, marriage and name. Nothing else. Relationships cannot be edited. Sources cannot be edited. No other fact or event types are supported. This software has not been consistently and regularly updated. It is extremely limited in its functionality. Compared to its Ancestry equivalent (which has its own issues) it is useless. Compared to its Familysearch equivalent the gulf is much wider.
Downloaded the app to see if it was better than the mobile web version. Not at all, wont be going to continue subscription after free trial, not as intuitive as other genealogy websites. Very disappointing
How about a landscape mode for those of us with a tablet with keyboard. I.e. galaxy tab s6. Makes it unusable
Had high hopes for this but....it's not very informative and when it does find a name, when you click source, you are taken to another page which then always says "WHOOPS, SOMETHING WENT WRONG OUR END". Getting nowhere. Uninstalling for a different geology site
Who ever designed this app needs to rethink their occupation. Utterly useless, full of bugs, simple stuff like clicking on a button causes it to crash. I read previous reviews and waited for the updated app. What a mistake. What an utter disappointment to think that you have sole rights to the 1921 census. Then you require a subscription and then charge for each entry. Shame on you.
