FindShip

I used this app for shipwatching. It used to be good, but now it lags really badly so ship positions are really inaccurate, plus they removed the pictures. The lag isn't an issue with the ship because the ships show up with other apps just fine. Finally just paid $5.99 for Marine Traffic and it's so much better. It's a shame because I like the look of FindShip better, but it just isn't functional anymore.

Can't figure out how to add a ship to a fleet, but the real problem is that the app plays ads that play sound effects. My phone is connected to Bluetooth speakers, the ads are incredibly loud and obnoxious, so you cannot use this app if you use your phone to play music or podcasts. Allowing a hostile takeover of your audio system is simply not acceptable.

EDIT Sept.5/19 Reinstalled App, it is indeed working again, thank you! I enjoyed it while it worked, I could see what ships were going to be going through the locks near me, and head down if there was something interesting, ie, USS Little Rock before it got stuck in the ice here in Montreal, shortly after it was commissioned. Deleting until it either comes back, or I find something similar.

I was really happy with the app until it stopped working after paying for it. It Just froze as I knew the ships were on the move and it forecast them as stationery, after four days it now says network problem. By all means get back to me with a fix, it was a good app. When it refreshes it shows no boats what so ever! I require a refund from you.

this was the great app up until recently and one that I depend on to be able to do my job correctly and over the past week or two it continuously says network error. at first I thought it was maybe my an issue with my cell phone provider and what's speaking with some co-workers that were also having issues and have different carriers we realized ultimately it is an app issue. there are quite a few of us that actually pay for the app and not being able to use it is getting ridiculous.

Used to be a good app but it seems they have lost a number of shore reporting stations so the coverage in my area is very poor. It probably shows about 5% of the boats that are actually here with their AIS turned on. It's effectively useless for showing real time ship positions and often shows ships as stationary when they are obviously moving, like high speed ferries. Where there is a decent shore receiving station it does fine, but they seen few and far between.

Loved (past tense) this app. Then "network error" hit and I hoped all would be good again after the fix. However, I can look out my window and see a barge going by, but FindShip shows nothing on the map. Some ship information is 20mins old while others are more current.

This was a great app and still is in part. Unfortunately it still does not work off the area around Cape Otway in Victoria, Australia. There is no response from the app provider from the many feedback notes I've sent over many months. Advising them on boat details, where they are shown incorrectly, is also ignored. I was happy casual user of free version of this app, when occasionally near coast or river could identify visible ships. Since about a month it instead reports 'nerwork error' and plots no ships on map. it's telling that if I search Play Store for app title it isn't listed. I think developers currently unable to interface to the shipping database. Downloaded a free alternative app (Vessel Finder) to use, shame as findship was clear and simple.

I purchased prime membership. But this app is horrible. I thought it will be old findhip app covering ships all along. But it does not show even ships which are within port limit as shown by marine traffic. They have cheated. DO NOT waste momey on this app till they improve. Nothing it shows. Developer should refund money.

Not exactly sure what is going on with the app but, has been showing Network Error for some time. Last night I was messing around with the app and I'm not sure if this solved it or not,but, I registered an account and set up user name and password and it is back and working for now.

Update: I'm ditching this for another app. Although it works, the removal of ships' photos renders FindShip pretty useless for me. Earlier review: Like others, I'm finding that this app no longer works. Network error indicated and no ships shown. A pity, because it was a very useful and easy to use app.

There is detail options which you could see whenever you highlight the vessel, but something goes wrong now, it is continuously return to where the vessel being located with about 5 seconds black-out screen. It was a great app although.

So with all the apps shortcomings, I purchased it for a year and it worked a slight better. Not $10 worth though. Beware though, as I'm finding out, Google is making it extremely difficult to find where I can cancel the membership when it's due to renew. They teased me though to let me know. I guess they figure most will just forget about it and keep paying for a good for nothing service. Sad. Google is a scam just like Facebook and Twitter.

It's ok, but nowhere near good enough. There are ships on the great lakes that have been moored for winter layup for 3 weeks or more. The map still shows them out on the lakes in motion. It's now Feb. 6. It's now Feb 16, those same boats are still sailing according to the map. One month since being moored and iced in.

This app. worked about 2 weeks over a year ago so, I removed app. from my phone. Now a year later I just got charged for another year! So, I tried downloading the app again and still DOES NOT WORK! I do see you must cancel your membership but, I can't figure out how to get it done! DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY

This app is a big dissapointment. Last year it was much better and this year I was planning on getting the pro plan but it seldom works under the free plan so I won't waste money on the way it works now. It is not consistent on locating barges on the upper Mississippi.

This app is absolutely stunning. It is fast at updating on my old slow Samsung S3, it supports a bunch of map types, it allows lat and long display, and provides a number of different purchase options. Very well done😊😊😊

When it updates the vessels regularly, it's great! Other times not so much. It can sometimes go a few days before it will update a vessels position. I use this app for work purposes, sometimes it isn't helpful because of this reason.

It stopped working several weeks ago. It shows "network error" even when I'm on WiFi. No ships shown in the world. Uninstalled. I hope it gets fixed. It was pretty good when it worked.
