horrible access to this magazines App, would not recommend this online program due to all the issues I have had with it for over a year. Paid for online access and paper magazine as well, but exrememly limited acess over firat year of subscription. Reloaded App and lost all archived magazines as well as App not performing and allowing me to access it. Would recommend to any wood worker the Magazine WOOD, which is better laid out and has much better support an access to materials.
Crashes constantly, and now refuses to open. The short time I was able to read issues, it was essentially a below average PDF reader. No flowing text, no navigation nor view tailored to mobile sized screen.
Man, I love Fine Woodworking and I love my online subscription but this is really bad. I have a full digital membership and print membership but the app won't let me access the older issues or search articles. If I was Taunton I would just axe this app and just make sure the website works on people's phone browsers.
This app crashes every time i try to login. Im lucky i get the magazine too but its really bad as ive essentially paid to be able to read the mag here too and cant.
Even if you have already downloaded an issue do not think that means you can open it on a plane since this app pointlessly needs an internet connection.
On my android phone (Samsung Galaxy) I cannot have this app direct it's storage to SD card rather than eating up my internal storage.
Great magazine with alot of how to's, and excellent tips for the pro, or beginner.
I have a digital subscription that should give me access to previous magazine but it doesn't.
would rather have the magazine. this app is terrible.
Crashes every time i try to login.
Useless, can't read articles.,
Horrible app. Don't waste your time.
App closes immediately upon open.
With version 13.2.0 l am able to access all the issues and the app is working great. I changed my rating to reflect this improvement.
Even though I have a digital membership that includes reading back issues and articles, it wants to charge me $8.99for everything I click on
The application does not restore purchases correctly and the new viewing screen makes it extremely difficult to see everything I might have.
I have an online membership yet this app has none of the articles of the online platform. Tauton needs to get with the times and update their online platform or get an app that works. Good thing the post office can still mail my magazine.....
App causes phone to lock-up. Does not format to the phone screen.
This not so much a rating of the app itself, but Tauntons DRM policy BS. I don't want to read FWW on a 5 inch display or in a stinking web browser online. I just want unencrypted e-books or PDFs. If Taunton has a problem with this, then they're not getting my money. Subscription cancelled. Get some DRM tutoring from Tim O'reilly, he knows how it's done without antagonizing his customers.
The latest version works much better. The device limit appears to have been removed, and it is faster...but not fast by any stretch of a turtle's imagination. At least I can read away from my computer.
Even when logged in and ask for credentials. On top of that you are unable to view older articles other than the most recent article without paying. Even if you have both membership and subscriber for the magazine.
Impossible to install despite multiple tries, clearing data and cache.
Much improved over the previous version of the app. Unfortunately there are still bugs around slow loading and it asking me to repurchase items I already own.
The folks at FWW need to get serious about their online experience. I've been emailing back and forth with Taunton customer support to get my digital membership to work on my android phone and or ipad FWW app, only to be told in the end to use my browser. If you have a digital susbcription, don't waste your time. This app is useful only if you want to purchase individual electronic issues.
Love having the ability for mobile FWW access but the app is bad. Force closes, keeps messing up my home screen background, some pages go black and I need to flick around to fix. WHY! I just want to read my fracking magazines
The title "Experience Fine Woodworkimg on your iPad" on Google Play should have tipped me off. This lame app isn't ready for prime time. Something as simple as flipping pages is a pain - you have to zoom out, go to next page, and zoom back in. Taunton is missing out by not having a rudimentary Android app.
App really needs work. If a download gets interrupted, it gets frozen in "unpacking" mode permanently unless the entire app is uninstalled. Doing that means everything needs to be downloaded again. Currently I'm unable to purchase anything through the app because it keeps saying that I must sign into Google, even though I am. Both the FWW website and this app are ready crap on mobile devices. FWW, get it together guys!
Download process is a bit flaky, mag icons flash around, weird. Takes a bit to download, so does Google Play News. Haven't figured how to save to Eternal card, neither has Google Play News. But the graphics are awesome, Google Play News-not so much. Hyperlinks in adds work very well, even on little adds. Return button actually returns you to mag where you jumped off, can't figure out what Google Play News is thinking when I hit return. The graphics are awesome. Page navigation works well. Both landscape and portrait orientation work well, total hit and miss in Google Play News. Decent page slide show along bottom. Oh did I say the graphics are awesome, super zoom and pan.
Love the content, but the app subscription is a waste of money. If you purchase your subscription through google play, you only have access through the app. It doesn't give you digital access through the website. If you just purchase the digital or print+digital bundle through the website, then you can just view your digital subscription through a web browser on your android device. If the app was an extension of the digital subscription, I would be thrilled with it.
There is zero security in this app. Anyone can download issues you paid for if they know your email address. It is poorly designed. Perhaps an automatic port of the iPad app. Obviously it was never tested by anyone who has a clue. It should be pulled from the Google Play Store.
