Almost useless. Unlike the NSW version which is quite reliable and relatively up to date, this gives scant information in WA. I wouldn't want to be relying on it for anything. Why we can't manage as consistent fire warning app system across Australia is beyond me.
As we live near the border it's very handy to have NSW and QLD fires in the same app. Not as good as the NSW RFS app which allows me to set alert zones around my home and then alerts when fires move into those zones. If this app could be updated to do that, it would be my go-to for fire warnings. As it stands I have to have both installed.
Bare Minimum Achieved. This app doesn't seem to have near as much info as the CFA website in terms of active incidents. Also no option to setup watch areas so that you get notifications when incidents occur. See the Vic Emergency app for a comparison - significantly better!
Has many issues regarding lack of information for every state except NSW, and to some extent Victoria. Tried recently to access Queensland's situation especially in Rockhamton area, but not much information, except to say that there were fires burning there.
Now shows incidents for all states, but icons aren't appropriately coloured in most states (only NSW, NT, TAS seem to be right). Watch zones or at least pins would be great. Vic map seems to shows LGA / fire region boundaries instead of fireground boundaries.
Good app that appears to have all states included now. It's a shame most of the one star reviews seem to be from when QLD wasn't included. A wind speed and direction overlay would be very useful
While the app does pick up fires it expects you to keep going in to check. It's not realistic. It needs you to be able to set watch zones like the NSW one so you can actually get notified.
Not the most up to date information by a long shot, and no extra details for immediate warnings. Qld is covered, but not accurate, many current fires not even listed, even thought they're under watch and act.
With my version I am unable to set an alert area which I know other versions can which is very important. Also it would be good to have the status to record first reported as well as last updated.
Just downloaded app, I'm in Qld. Seems to show same events as on Ruralfire.qld.gov.au (rfq) map ...BUT be aware that this app map legend uses DIFFERENT COLOURS (probably consistent with NSW who developed app)... Blue event on this app is Yellow on rfq map, Yellow here is Orange on rfq...Red is same on both maps. Thanks so much for this app, I'll probably use both it (as summary) and the rfq website which shows more details including vehicles on scene (App states ALL fires "out of control").
Really needs to be updated faster, especially for QLD. There is very little information on the fires in that state and what information is available is not being updated often enough. Please make it EXACTLY like the Fires Near Me NSW app.
Refresh is really slow for ACT and sometimes doesn't happen. Don't know if it's the app or the source data feeding into it.
I installed this app to find out about smoke that appeared near to where I was staying for a week. The app showed no threats and yet I later discovered that people had been evacuated due to a bushfire very close by.
Its good to use but i wish i could put pin points on different places and homes my family and friends live. And get notified when a fire at a certain distance from me is. Please make more changes to the app so its easier and more safe to have
Pretty useless, can't zoom in to any area, just shows the whole of Australia. Android phone.
Is it just the android version that won't allow you to get notification of fires near you? Woke up to heavy smoke with 3 kids. A notification would be a great extra boost for us to get out if needed. (We're fine)
Hopeless, there is a fire burning close to us in Perth today. Official govt emergency website shows 4 different zones at different alert levels around us but this app only shows one of them and it's the lowest level one too.
A great app for me to use in conjunction with emergency notifications from QFES on Twitter, it helps me get my bearings on where each fire is in relation to my home. Essential for the long fire season we're in.
Nothing comes up for Qld on Android version of the app. I downloaded apple version on my other device - it works. Currently a fire 3.5km away, so a working version would have been nice
A good, simple to use app with valuable information for emergencies. If I have one complaint, it would be useful to filter different threat levels - hiding "not applicable" alerts would make it easier to see real threats.
