First Aid and Emergency Techniques

First aid is the first and immediate assistance given to any person suffering from either a minor or serious illness or injury, with care provided to preserve life, prevent the condition from worsening, or to promote recovery.
First aid refers to the emergency or immediate care you should provide when a person is injured or ill until full medical treatment is available. For minor conditions, first aid care may be enough. For serious problems, first aid care should be continued until more advanced care becomes available.
First aid is vital for saving lives. A person can carry out first aid after a life-threatening incident or injury before the arrival of emergency services.
The aims of first aid are to preserve life, prevent harm, and promote recovery.
In first aid, ABC stands for airway, breathing, and circulation.
The recovery position helps minimize further injury.
CPR stands for cardiopulmonary resuscitation. It helps maintain the flow of oxygenated blood.
While doing chest compressions, you may hear cracks. This is normal.
First aid is an emergency measure, generally consisting of simple, often life-saving techniques that most people can train to perform with minimal equipment and no previous medical experience.
First aid is not classed as medical treatment and does not replace interventions from a trained medical professional.
At any moment, you or someone around you could experience an injury or illness. Using basic first aid, you may be able to stop a minor mishap from getting worse. In the case of a serious medical emergency, you may even save a life.
First aid covers the steps taken to help an injured or sick person in the first minutes after the event.

Often this first aid can help someone feel better, recover more quickly, and can even save lives.

First aid can be useful in many different situations, from sprains to electric shocks to heart attacks.
First aid might involve a simple action, such as placing a person in the correct position to breathe freely. It might involve a more skilled activity, such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) if they have stopped breathing.
The provision of prompt and appropriate first aid can reduce the severity of an injury or illness and in extreme cases, could mean the difference between life and death.
First aid refers to medical attention that is usually administered immediately after the injury occurs and at the location where it occurred. It often consists of a one-time, short-term treatment and requires little technology or training to administer. First aid can include cleaning minor cuts, scrapes, or scratches; treating a minor burn; applying bandages and dressings; the use of non-prescription medicine; draining blisters; removing debris from the eyes; massage; and drinking fluids to relieve heat stress.
First aid can treat all sorts of minor bumps and scrapes, but you should see a doctor for more serious accidents. You may want to think about getting a first aid kit for your house or training in first aid so that you are prepared to deal with minor accidents.
Basic first aid refers to the initial process of assessing and addressing the needs of someone who has been injured or is in physiological distress due to choking, a heart attack, allergic reactions, drugs or other medical emergencies. Basic first aid allows you to quickly determine a person's physical condition and the correct course of treatment. You should always seek professional medical help as soon as you are able, but following correct first aid procedures can be the difference between life and death. First aid is the emergency treatment that is given to an injured or sick person or animal, often by someone who does not have medical training. First aid refers to the immediate treatment of an individual(s) that is injured or ill. First aid is not a full medical treatment.

Great and easy app to use. But the ad pop ups will drive me crazy. If an emergency occurred and an ad popped up it could rattle the user. I actually had two ads pop up on the same page back to back when assessing the app. While I love the app this might make me try another app instead. Sorry but I just could not accept the pop up ads any longer so had to delete.

Useful app to have if caught in an emergency situation with no manual on hand and not an expert in first aid. Just keep cool and calm and click to find out what to do/not do in an emergency. When bored, you can study and memorise what to do. I leaned new things and corrected a few mistaken ideas I had about how to help, which only makes things worse still.

By far the very best First Aid Manual I have ever seen...and quite up to date as well. Pictures throughout the app clearly illustrate the text. As an R.N., responsible for preparedness, I've done considerable research to find a good reference app on First Aid which would be easily understood by a layperson...which would cover what might be needed in most any medical emergency. In my humble opinion, this app is a perfect fit.

I reading this the second time as there is so much good information to try and absorb. I find that it provides a good balance between things that you can attempt on your own and when you should head to the emergency room right away. If you find yourself needing it right away as in an emergency, the text is not suited for quick on the spot prognosis of most ailments. You need to have read the contents of this first aid app in advance and really understood the things that he is describing.

Being a new parent means being constantly concerned about my child's safety. So I wanted an app in phone with quick instructions just in case something happens. This first aid app has easy instructions and great pictures that are easy to understand. As others wrote, some things, like CPR, have changed. But there are great YouTube videos for that as well as instructions online.

Being an RN, I am familiar with first aid, but I wanted to have something to go into our rather extensive 1st aid kit so anyone using it would have information at their finger tip. This app is a wealth of information and has all the basics on it without having to flip through a book to find what you need. Good for a quick reference.

This first aid app definitely exceeded my expectations and I just know that it can come in handy when first aid is needed. The first aid instructions are very detailed and the pictures for every scenario it talks about help a lot. I recommend downloading this app if you're looking for a great and compact first aid app to have around.

I seriously believe that this may be the best First Aid manual ever written, and I do not say that lightly. I have many First Aid manuals and I have been looking for a manual like this one for years. It is well written, gives an easy to understand description of body system and how they work, gives step by step instructions on how to treat everything from abdominal injuries and abrasions to wasp stings and wrist injuries. If you want one First Aid manual to have as a quick, easy to use

App is great, contains useful information but the ads are only the problem and I'm not sure if you're fixing it. I will change my rating if the ads are removed because encountering an ad in an emergency is very annoying.

Contains a lot of useful, organised information on first aid - however, the timed ads that appear between each and every page of information can be frustrating, especially considering time may be of the essence with the nature of the app. Banner ads would perhaps feel less intrusive or even just a reduction in ad frequency.

Good insights on some emergency planning and medical basics. When things go south, remembering details from that trauma or survival class you took may be a little hard to surface through the panic; This is a great way to make sure you have that knowledge readily available. Interesting section on stockpiling meds. Almost worth it for that alone

I realized that although I have the supplies I might need for basic medical care during an emergency to go along with a decent amount of CPR and first aid training, that these would come in handy. Both as a refresher or guide during a stressful situation and as a supplement to the training and experience I have. It contains a lot of info in a small package but is easy to read and easy to locate the info you need quickly.

For the things need to be reminded of in a situation where I could freeze or panic, this first aid guide is perfect (especially if read through in advance). Great confidence to carry along whenever outdoors.

Came up immediately asking for excessive and intrusive permissions. After clicking disagree, I was greeted by a full page annoying ad before I could even start to use the app. I'm a busy person and I don't have time for this nonsense. Uninstalling.

This app is outstanding in every aspect as a valuable reference to emergency situations, where no other help is available. Although I have tried hundreds apps that cover this topic, I felt this one is extremely useful for my daughter to have in her home. This app outlines several conditions for one to identify with as it offers step-by-step instructions, with solutions for unexpected health problems. This informative guide also prepares for any disaster, where help is not on the way. It is speci

This is a really good app from a doctor who understands that the grid may go down for a long time, not just for a few days or even weeks. Most medical survival apps are oriented to stabilizing a person long enough to get them to the hospital. But what happens in a SHTF scenario that may be prolonged? This app does a great job outlining steps you can take to prepare now, while society functions, and also providing insights on what people can do to make the best of a difficult situation when profe

There is all the info you need on the Keto diet in this app. It is very reader friendly and everything is explained fully. I have used a few app on the Keto diet and this is one of best. Well worth reading if your interested in the science behind Keto or just to tweak your diet to get better results.

Fantastic and incredible improvement over the previous version. It is much more organized and it has general information, clinical presentation, diagnosis, and treatment of the high-yielding pathologies in that order. Key facts, mnemonics, clinical correlations and, flash backs are on the sides and provide great additional details. I recommend this app and applaud the authors and developers for this incredible improvement over the last app.
