Tips for successful mobile check deposit:

Close all other apps that may be open and make sure you have a good signal. Place the check on a plain dark background with good lighting. Make sure the check is fully in the frame, with all four corners captured, and that the picture is not blurry. Drawing a small dot on each corner of the check makes it easier for your camera to read and doesn’t damage the check in anyway.

*Must be enrolled in online banking. There is no charge from First Interstate Bank, but messaging and data rates may apply.
**Must have Bill Pay setup previously in online banking.

The switch from Great Western to first Interstate has went over like a lead balloon. Phone problems, deposit glitches and now this app. I forgot my password so they sent a temporary one. The app wouldn't accept it 2 times so I had my son double check I was putting it in right and I was. Requested another temporary password and same issue now that is disabled and need to call to request a change. On hold for 20 minutes and never got through. Would be easier just to switch banks at this point

Easy to use. I like how simple it is to deposit checks, check my balance, pay bills, and transfer money. I can login using my fingerprint which saves me having to remember another password. Doesn't slow my phone down or drain battery like some apps do. Will log out automatically if I am away from app too long.

I just installed this app (haven't even opened it yet) and already there's a problem: the app tile is crypticly named "Mobile Bank" as if it's the only mobile banking app on the planet. Why isn't it intuitively labeled "First Interstate"? Another case of app developers having tunnel vision and not realizing that people have more than just one app on their phone. 😒 I hope this will be corrected soon so I can update my review.

I used to love the app to transfer money in-between accounts and to see how much I currently had. Now the app glitches a lot, it's almost seems like the balance is up to date. I dont want to overdraft or run to the bank or atm just to see how much money we have. It's really getting annoying.

It has certainly improved over the years. It's super easy to transfer money between personal accounts and to friends through the "Popmoney" option. The only problem that I have is that there is no way to wire transfer money through it. It's nice not having to wait 3 days when investing in the stock market

Great, but the max deposit of a single check is $2500. That should be at least doubled in my mind. Many times my checks are $3000 and up, so I more times than not, I can't use the check deposit part of the app, which is why I started using it in the first place. May 2021, would still love to be able to deposit larger checks. So you guys upped the deposit rate to $5k, pretty quickly after my review, would live that to be even a higher deposit value.

Love the app immensely. Small downfall is the check deposit can't always read the dates when they are clearly visible. Have to submit it a time or two before it gets deposited.

I like this app, but it does not make an shortcut icon button for my home screen. It's annoying to have to open Google play, enter in the app name, and open it that way every time!

Installed app and will not show on my phone and when I go back into Play Store for my Android phone it says OPEN ONLY! Rebooted, no show. Also, balance alway 1-2 days behind. Looked in all app groups. no show. Just moved over

Very helpful with all transactions. Exceptional in account security. They have notified me by phone when suspicious activity occurs on my account. I wouldn't bank with anyone else. Incredible satisfied with First Interstate Bank.

Overall works pretty well. The mobile deposit is great, but I HATE how loud it shutter sound is when it's taking a photo of the check! There is nowhere in settings to turn off sound. My system volume was at 20% and my media volume was muted, yet the app sound almost hurts your ears it's so loud! Update: it even makes the loud noise when the phone, system volume and media are muted!

The app notification for low balance needs to quit, the application reminds me every 10 minutes that I have a low balance wether or not I change the app setting. It's stressing me out, because I know my balance is low and it just keeps popping up, over, and over. Gets pretty depressing after reading it the 3rd time after swiping the notification closed.

Bill pay does not allow you to enter a decimal point. Unfriendly trying to change an amount already there. I generally find app bill pay to be harder to use than the desktop bill pay, which also doesn't allow decimal point. Edit: after 2 months, growing on me. Add a star. Edit after 5 months, less functionality than desktop. Subtract 1 star. Bill pay is much harder than desktop.

everything about this app is fine, except for one super repeatable bug. every single time I deposit a check, when I click deposit, it asks if I can clearly see the picture, everytime I just tap submit on the same picture and the second time it goes through. it's a small bug, but super repeatable. Should be fixed.

I have a Google pixel 3xl, and when trying to deposit a check, the camera does not perform correctly. The camera switches to portrait mode and the picture becomes distorted, and does not capture well when not in portrait. This app has performed well on other devices and I wonder if it's a bug.

The FIB app works well for what I use it for. The only upgrade that I would like to see is easier accessibility to the FIB credit card for payment and statement purposes. It is frustrating though not impossible to log off the app and login to to website to deal with the credit card side of things.

This app is too time consuming.. I wish you could pay all Bill's, on one page, at one time. Check boxes and amount boxes, like cascade had on their app, before FIB took over... Plus, I want to see details for debits, I shouldn't have to wait for the statement .. I'm a wildfire firefighter and a very busy woman. I want details and time convenience. Thank you. April

The app is great...however, the Deposit feature is cumbersome and annoying. It never auto captures anything and when I use the manual capture, the pics can be crystal clear and still get rejected. Easier to drive across town to the bank than it is to deposit checks thru the app in my opinion. It was much better before the upgrade....sorry to say.

Works, but slowly. Use for occasional deposits, but so slow it's painful at times. Also, cannot hide online ID (!) if saved on phone. (this is actually the same, unbelievably, with the desktop online experience). All other banks I've used show either none or perhaps only 3 or 4 characters of an ID. I un-install after each use because of this.

Reasonable app that's easy to transfer funds back and forth, but the check deposit isn't super streamlined. It asks you to check the picture of the front of the check every time after hitting deposit and then you have to verify... and then hit deposit again, the loading time is too much for this to be convenient.

coming over from iib. 1st Interstate app isn't as smooth. It has improved though. I like the auto pic for checks, but it lines it up close, then the photo is pretty far away making it hard to see. The mobile deposit needs a notation for the deposit. The statements need the check and deposit photos to be larger. It takes a magnifying glass to read check notations

This would be a higher rating, but it's been very annoying for me when you suddenly disable my print access. It would be pretty difficult for someone to gain access to my account using my fingerprint. So I don't understand why FIB thinks this is necessary. Since I typically use the print, it always involves a hassle for me to log on. I often have forgotten exactly what user name or password I set up.
