I had my Opal for almost 2 years before getting the app. Never realized what I was missing. Have used the scheduling since Oct 2019 with no issues on a Note10+. Today the update for Android 10 became available for me. I can report that despite warnings that the app needs updating, the app still works just fine for me.
Avery poor app for connected devices because: ● Using Android's back button closes the app ● Sending schedules to your machine is unreliable ● Schedules are deleted when the machine's start/stop button is pressed ● The main screen isn't a list of your machines, but a blog feed from 2017 ● The hamburger menu isn't ever-present, just when you click into a machine you own ● The Help section doesn't provide tutorials or videos to explain general stuff like setup, cleaning, etc
App doesn't work, however there is an updated version. Search play store for GE Profile Opal Ice Maker. New app is not great either, but at least connects to Android 10, can turn on/off...and there seems to be a Scheduling system.
It's nice when it works, but about once a week (doing exactly the same thing i do when it works, and very carefully), it just never makes ice as scheduled. So i know, that randomly, at least once a week I will wake up with no ice before going to work. Which is why I bought the opal in the first place.
This is the fastest and most streamlined bluetooth apps Ive ever used. Less than 30 seconds to connect and set up everything. I dont know why this app had bad reviews.
Love my Opal, but I have to keep an old iPhone around just to be able to set the schedule on it. FirstBuild really needs to get their act together on this Android app. It stopped working long ago.
Doesn't work with latest Android. Opal connects via Bluetooth but the app. Doesn't see it. Definitely an app. Issue.
Android device Bluetooth pairs with Opal but app does not find Opal. Same complaint as everyone. $500 for an icemaker I expect this companion to be working. However, I see that they have not updated it as since 2017. I guess the jokes on me for buying it.
I hate how you open the app, then have to go to products, then select the ice maker. please adjust so that I can go straight to my ice maker and eliminate the pointless landing page
Does not connect to my opal so cannot set schedules, remote control, or any of the advanced features.
This is unbelievable how bad this situation is. 17 pieces of meat dethawed to cook for seniors and this app is now outdated. 4 hours on the phone and NO/ZERO/NONE resolve. 4 telephone numbers.
Doesn't work with Android 9 or Android 10 needs to be updated to work with recent versions of Android. This app was last updated in 2017 come on GE you're a multi billion dollar company I'm sure you can afford to update it.
App works great with the Opal Ice Maker. I have had no issues. The scheduling is super convenient. I come home to a full tub of ice!
Needs to be updated! I love my Opal but the app does not work on my S10... It's annoying that I have to keep an old phone charged just to operate Opal.
I love the opal product but you guys really need to update the app. I haven't seen an app that was built this badly that was built recently in forever.
got my opal ice maker. love it but it will not pair to the app. it shows that I am paired on my phone but the app says connection error.
every time I use it I have to restart the app. Also it starts with their "ad" and not what i want the app for, the ice machine.
My Opal stops making ice evey afternoon. We bought an Opal filter & Opal cleaning kit. Using the filter has made the "no ice" worse. We bought this to use 24 hrs 7 days a week. Using the Opal pre filter and pre finding this app had much better ice production. (still slow) This machine can not keep up with us but it had not STOPPED making ice like now. I turn it off and on and 60% of the time it will begin to make ice but it is painfully slow. Too much $$$$$ for this unimpressive ice production.
Needs to be updated. I paid premium for a device that I no longer can schedule ice making for. Very unhappy with firstbuild.
Well, there aren't zero stars. Here's the gist of it: THE APP DOESN'T WORK ON ANDROID. Pixel 4XL. Stupid. Y'all need to fix this.
As others have said, this app does not work on the latest Android OS for many smartphones. However, I did find an app named 'Ice Maker' by GE appliances that works.
Does not work with the latest versions of Android. Really? Brand new ice maker and the app hasn't been updated since 2017 :(
My phone works fine, the problem im having is that i set the times to make the ice, it empties the water out like its gonna make ice and then just sits thrte. Ill look on my app and it always says ice full and there won't be be 1 nugget of ice in there made. Its not making any ice at all now.we've cleaned it like it says, did everything we were suppose to, lights up and just sits there making no ice at all. Fix this problem!! Paid way to much for this to be going on.send another machine!
If you are looking for an app that just shows 1st build products then it is okay. If you are looking for the cocreate access it is just not there
It never locates the device and fails to connect. It's so frustrating
Schedule doesn't keep. App won't even connect after latest Android update....
crappy. schedule will not stay activated, and has to be turned on daily.
Unless you have a 5 year old phone, don't bother downloading this obsolete app. Garbage.
App only connects when in the home. cant connect remotely
iOS app works, but not the flagship android phone on the Google Play store. I have the ice maker set as a trusted device for my phone, so I don't need to use a pin when my phone makes a bluetooth connection. No pin needed, Appliance shows up as connected to phone, but won't work. The app requested permission to turn on bluetooth, so I know it needs & has been granted permissions. Fix your app.
