FishDonkey - Fishing Tournaments

Versatility
The FishDonkey app has lots of built in options to help you create and run a tournament just the way you want. Create a variety of tournament options such as biggest fish, largest stringer of fish, grand slam, multispecies tournaments, wildcard, or custom categories. You can be very creative with your own category with contest such as most spots on a fish, prettiest picture, smallest fish, strangest catch, etc. You can run a tournament anywhere and anyplace. Specify any length of time, an hour, a month, maybe even a year… easily define and manage the start and end dates.

Not upfront with true cost of the app and it's disappointing. If I wanted to do a private buy in tourney amongst friends I have no idea what the cost would be up front which is troubling. Edit- So when you get your tournament set up, you get a sort of "concierge" to help you fine tune it which is really nice. They are really responsive and helpful which made me boost my score but you still have to dig for info I feel. It is a cool app and worth the download.
So I figured out how to use the flash, it wouldn't work prior due to some amount of light. If you have a headlamp for night fishing the flash won't work. It would be nice to be able to set it from autoflash to always flash, otherwise it has to be completely dark for the the auto flash to go. I had a blast with this app for the tournament, its surprisingly interesting viewing everyone else's catches throughout Canada and the US. Fish on!
I can't say enough about this app and the creators of it! They were super helpful and even checked in with me on a Sunday morning to make sure I didn't have any questions while our tournament was going on. It was super easy to use for all anglers and captains, the technology worked great, and it even has a digital livewell that will save your images when you don't have cell service on the lake and then uploads them when you do. As the tournament director, I found it super simple to verify the pictures. They also have youtube videos that you can watch to check it out and show you how to use it, but it really is so simple you wouldn't need to watch those. Thank you for creating this amazing app! We will definitely use it again!
We like the app and that the tournaments we fish are catch and release. However, a timer would be nice. It's hard to get selfie pictures if you are fishing alone. I just found the flash button. Hope it works when theres still some light. I had a hard time holding the camera, keeping the fish on the board and getting enough light to see the scale. Look forward to improvements.
This app has helped me save a lot of time running fishing contests. The developers have been willing to add new features and it continues to get better. I've administered over 30 contests now on this app and each one gets a little bit better. Be sure to take advantage and modify the format so that if fits your contest and how YOU want to run it. Don't be afraid of a few bumps along the way as you learn, the end result is worth it.
I have been using this app for awhile now, last winter it renewed my drive for waking up and getting a line wet. Its very interesting fishing with people from other places where they are fishing bodies of water you might not have heard about, and when one of your catches shows up in the top few in an international tournament you get pretty excited. It also opens up alot locally, ill admit there's nothing like an actual tournament but this is the next best thing. And, even better in some ways.
I have been using this app for almost a year. It has been a great way to have local tournaments. Easy to use and functional. I had some trouble with my phone not working with video entries, the admin was fast to communicate and help me to resolve the issue my phone was having. It's a great way for a few friends, or a local club to put together a fishing tournament. My local catfish/sturgeon fishing groups have been using this app with great success.
In the other tournament apps you can add a photo off of your camera roll or edit your submission if you enter it wrong. Not very functional
If you run any kind of tournament this is the app for you! The app has a bunch of options from stringer, grand slam, wild card, and more tournament styles to choose from! You get live results and it 100% promotes conservation. I participated in a grand slam style ice fishing tournament and it was a lot of fun! You won't be disappointed.
The app is fantastic, the customer service, not so much. We use this app for a friendly tournament between friends, no entry fees or prizes, just bragging rights. The tournament organizer had been working with customer service for some time and they were super helpful, until they weren't. We needed to do a larger stringer, and were told that the organizer has to pay. For an app that's free for organizers to use. When asked where in the Terms of Service it said this, the response was 'The terms don't say we can't charge you'. Don't catch too many fish in your tournament, or you'll have to pay too! Would have been a 5-star review otherwise.
Had some initial trouble with the app force closing and left a bad review. Developer personally contacted me and it was an issue they were unaware of and he was able to fix the problem and get me up and running. Looking forward to hosting my first tournament in June! Thanks again Darren
Really enjoy using this app. We'll designed and easy to use! Wish I could edit a species after submitting as I have misidentified them but was able to fix by contact the tourney director . Keep up the great work! I'll be using this for any tournaments I organize!

This app is super user friendly and it works great. We have been using it with our junior and high school fishing teams and love it! If we have had a special request or if we had a question about the app, FishDonkey responded surprisingly fast. FishDonkey is the best fishing tournament app out there. 5 stars
What the? I've downloaded the app, fill out registration, when I hit submit, it says I need to accept terms and conditions. But there is no box to check or tab to click. I hit register a bunch of times, then it takes me to terms and condition page, which I accept. Go back to registration page, click register and it says I need to accept terms and conditions...🤦🏻♂️😡
App sure needs a lot of permissions to use. Not sure why it needs to record audio and access my files. I understand having to access photos but files?
Absolutely amazing customer service! The app is easy to use; I have used it for all of my tournaments since my first download! Great product, and all of my anglers who are fishing in the tournament where excited about this platform!
I like the app but it is unacceptably slow.. Have to wait up to a minute.. Even on WiFi and the web interface is the same.. Bring it out if 1996 and the score will rise

Great App to host fishing derbies in these Modern times. Especially great for the fish as you don't have to transport fish to get measured

This app is as absolutely fantastic. Everybody involved in the fishing industry NEEDS this app. We use it for our highschool varsity fishing tournaments and it is terrific. I highly recommend EVERYBODY use this app

I think the app is great but it's hard getting people to buy into online fishing but I won't give up on the idea because I know this will work. People just have to give it a chance.
Not user friendly or customer friendly. I called to ask if they would ever consider allowing edit or delete of entries or if they had any materials other that the videos for directing a tourney with their app. I thought these were reasonable questions. However, the lady became very agitated and said "Our app is great just the way it is" and "create a tournament and find out". And now this snarky reply. Not very professional, guys.
