FishVerify: FLORIDA Fish ID

I've only found this app because I found a fish in a saltwater tank at a restaurant, and no one knew what it was. We even showed it to fish biologists who were stumped. I submitted the photo to fishverify and a few hours later I got an email with the name (and alternate names) and a few facts. Definitely a cool trick!

This is a great app and the app support is fantastic. I had a fish that did not identify correctly and the app has a feature where you can submit a photo for better identification. I heard back from the team with the correct ID and they provided some extra facts about that fish.

Fantastic app. Perfect for identifying the large variety of fish in the Florida keys. Experts responded very quickly for one that wasn't automatically identified. Really like the catch log too since it includes your coordinates.

Great app. It's nice for them to help me know what kind of fish I have caught and what the rules are. It's also really handy that they have a bunch of other features like a trip log that keeps track of your distance which is really handy for my boat.

This app had helped me identify fishes I needed for my school laboratory and I can say that it's good but it still needs more improvement because sometimes the results don't match with the picture I've used for verification or there's no match found at all. So I tried requesting the Team for help and I was grateful and happy that they did but u have to watch a short video first before u can unlock expert review. I also have noticed that there's a limit to the scan credits unless you subscribe :3

My experience: 1) Had a fish, wanted to know what it was 2) Found this app to help me 3) Had to create an account with my information and an email 4) Had to wait for the verification email 5) Had to watch a 45 second ad to unlock a fish scan 6) App told me it could not detect a fish in the picture This is stupid. I'm sure it works for some people, but c'mon. I know you have to make money but let me use the app and see if it works before you make me start watching ads and setting up an account.

First time I used the app I may have not been at the right distance. Sent inquiry to the app team and received a detailed description of the fish not just the name. Second fish got it right away. Will use in the future!!

This is an awesome app! It's easy to use and if the app doesn't verify the fish you can submit it to a team of experts. They responded very quickly. Definitely a keeper.

Loved the UI/UX but identification is wrong tried twice. You shouldn't ask people to subscribe at this point. Make sure your app is working properly then ask them to subscribe or pay .. giving you 5 stars to encourage you finishing this app .. also make the app able to identify aquarium fishes not just fished ones. I really like this app. I am not a fan of FishRules app. In the past I paid for this, and would again, but don't currently have the budget, but am deeply grateful that it still works with ads--and even better, offers great support for ID's when sometimes the photo isn't good enough.

I paid for the full version, and while you may be able to send in photos and they will get back to you at some point to ID the fish...that isn't what I need. I need to know what it is I have on the hook, flopping around, RIGHT NOW. At that task, this app fails. Too many times now the app just says "no fish detected" when I take pic of fish I just pulled out of the water. However, same pic of same fish Google Lens instantly recognized the pic as a fish & identifies it for me. For free.

Too much advertisment. You need to watch advertisment to use the scan function and it cant really indentify the fish.

Awesome app. Highly recommended. If the specie is not on their list they will email you the answer in 24h.

This app is good for finding out what fish you have caught with its scanner mode but after a few goes you have to watch videos or "subscribe". Ofcorse this is completely over priced and it means you can't use as many features but apart from this the app is pretty good

Was not happy with this app! Would not recognize my location in Brazil. Was unable to use at all :(

Very good personal service. App said it couldn't identify but was sent to their team to identify. Got a quick response saying it was a largemouth blenny. Which it is. Excellent service

Not bad was able to figure out a northern Pike was a pike but couldn't identity a blue gill ....... Wondering whether if going to tell a rock bass a small or large mouth bass for a rock bass to a white bass or stripper

Great app. A bit spendy, but if they keep it updated it might be worth it. I have submitted some photos during my free trial and they've been pretty accurately identified. Only real complaint is with the photo import function. It would be nice to have the option of rotating the box in the app, instead of editing the photo and rotating it. And a side note, juvenile sharks can be super difficult to identify...you might want to include a disclaimer to that effect. Good job on the app!

It never identified a single fish. I even tried with a few pics from Google. It had no clue about any of them

Not for aquarium fish I guess... smh. I was given a fish tank with fish already in it and I just wanted to know what they are. Took pictures and it kept saying, no fish detected in photo. What!? Lol there were def fish in the photos!

The app couldn't quite id my fish, but I submitted it to their team and someone reached out the next day with an answer. Very helpful!

When the picture did not identify the fish, the support team did. By the next morning I received an email with the ID. Annoying ad pops up, but that is life these days

I suggest that more countries will be added here for the location, not only the United States, to make it more accessible for everyone. Also, make sure that the name of fish species really matches with the picture I have used for verification. That's all, thanks.

This app is not free. Yes it has a free version,, but that version doesn't include the picture recognition. Very deceptive since the only feature in the description is not in the free version. And no, I'll not circle back and try it again.

False advertising. Doesn't work as advertised. Keeps saying I need to upgrade. Can't upload photos to check what I caught. Apparently all I can do is look up fish to get info. I can use the FL wildlife site or phamplet. Uninstalling it.

Very nice app, if it's not able to identify it via scan, the experts get back to you in less than an hour with very accurate and detailed information. So far it's been 100 percent accurate on every ID.

I haven't had a chance to use the camera ID yet but the seasons and bag limits need to be updated for some species. It says open season for a few groupers and hogfish which are all currently closed. Bag limit for hogfish says 5 but is only 1. I'm an out-of-state fisherman and this could get me in trouble. I do like the photos and information.
