What a great way to combat food waste! The items, in my experience, have always been as described and acceptable for use at least for the next day or two (and with some meats, longer with freezing). Some minor app glitches (you should be able to know what item is out of stock instead of emptying your cart), but overall it works well and is user friendly.
Need a feature where you can click on things you like and keep a list of what store they are at. Trying to remember what items you saw at what store is very difficult. After you purchase your item and go back to view the purchase, it does not have a total. Need to be able to see total so that I can match it up with my credit card statement. I have to remember to screenshot the total before finishing. Would be great if there were a pic of or info on the nutrition of the product... Need to kn
Very dependant on the store. Some stores in my area have great deals, some don't seem to be very involved, some seem to want to scam you with rotten, moldy, or inedible food or bait and switch. The app itself has been very good about refunds when the item is clearly misrepresented or not even there. I think it's a good idea and I hope it spreads everywhere. I get plenty of food that's "expired" that is good for the week and helps my family eat fresh food on a budget.
I really like this app. The customer service is also great. A store didn't have some of the items. I used the contact option through the app. They got back to me quickly, were friendly and resolved my issue without a problem. My only complaint is I wish the descriptions were better. It seems like there isn't enough character space for stores to put good descriptions.
We buy the fruit, veg, grains and meat for ourselves and our homemade dogs' food. The dogs love their nutrient rich meals. We love the affordable price. Extra bonus when there are treats for the peeps. Like cakes and drinks. The app has been great for us. But when there is a credit due to us, the system is unnecessarily complicated. When you pre-purchase your flash food items, and then find that an item is no longer available when you're in the store to pick-up, you need to apply for your refund. That's kinda dumb. If they can make the purchases so fast and automated, they should be able to make credits just as easy. Right?!
No issues with the app, I just wish more stores utilized this service, and also used it correctly - very often meats are listed without weights, and using a stock photo so you have no idea what you're actually getting. Is it a good deal? Beats me! Would also be great if you actually could get your targeted PC Optimum offers using this service, but I suppose stores don't want you to profit too much.
I've had this downloaded for quite some time and just got around to using it for the first time yesterday. The process was very easy! Saving money on groceries in today's economy helps stretch the dollar while reducing the amount of food being trashed. I would, however, like to see more/clearer pictures and/or descriptions of products and I look forward to when more local grocery store chains start to participate.
Works well except for difficulty viewing product contents, e.g., you have to Google the sushi to see exactly what's in the container, and if you see a red vegetable peeking out from the bottom of the vegetable box it could be either a red pepper or a tomato. Also, don't count on the items being in your order. I had meat pulled from my order because it was past the "best by" date. My money was refunded with no issues. Great way to save some money.
So far, I've used this App for a couple months, I 've only had one issue, and that was fixed, before I had to make any calls or anything, so I like the App. It saves me a good bit of money and that's what I am looking for!! So great to be able to take the food that's left behind@Giant. I know that I have used all the foods I 've bought. It all tastes like the same, and I just love saving 50%!! Great App. I ordered something they didn't have, so I sent email to the Website, was handled quickly!
This app started out great, I used it a few times a week to get some discounted groceries and it was 5 stars for sure. Now it is rare that there is food being offered at all. Grocery stores near me are using it to post random things like make-up and miscellaneous things that they apparently don't sell well in store. I would also like more pictures of food when they do happen to post food. Please follow up with stores using this app, make sure they're actually posting food.
It's a little confusing at first when trying to place the order. It doesn't direct you to where you need to tap to add the item to your cart. Also, when I was finally checking out, my order would not go thru. I kept getting a notice that I couldn't buy more than the quantity available. Instead of the system just deleting it, it wouldn't tell me what item it was or what to do. I had to delete the whole order and start over and when I did, the items that weren't available anymore were gone.
Great app. I get good deals sometimes, but I have to monitor for new uploads because the items sell out very fast. I have bought previously and got one or two bad produce mixed with good ones, but recently I got some boxes which had really bad produce that I had to trash. It was waste of money for me buying produce to trash.
App works great but I found, on occasion, that the food being sold by the stores isnt usable. The majority of the time the food is fine, but I have bought produce and fish that isnt just beyond its prime, which you expect, but is so far gone that it isnt usable. Update: More than once I have made a purchase through Flasfood then it is missing at the store. Refunds have to be requested through Flashfood which is not simple and are processed very slowly.
Picked my first order up at the Englewood location; the products were great, but staff were less than enthusiastic. Other than that I'm grateful for this app giving me the ability to buy meat and produce at reduced cost when money is very tight. Would love it if other stores were added to the app, since all of the than 15 miles from where I live. I love being able to buy food that is healthy, when the cost has gone up so much for whole foods (not boxed/prepackaged). Thanks for creating this!
It's a good app, but you guys have to add a feature where I can purchase from multiple stores with one transaction. My bank account has limited transactions per month (25). I already contacted support about this. Edit: Produce boxes are gone almost instantly if you don't buy within 3-8 minutes, so when this app becomes more popular it's going to be tough to get what you need unless they get more stores to join like Walmart and Save on foods
I just downloaded and after opening the app, I'm gonna delete. It says the closest store is 11 miles. FALSE! It's way over 11 miles, in a whole other state! It's laughable. It's at least a 30 minute drive, major highways and all that. Not worth it, at all. Then you add the gas, especially with the current spike in gas prices, nope.
Orders don't always sync to the store so the store will have no record of your order. Even if you can show them the order on your phone they make you feel like you're trying to pull some sort of scam, you still get billed, and then emails to support bounce back as undeliverable.
Always wonderful.fresh produce boxes and amazing baked goods at a fraction of the price. Top line meats and frozen foods too. All.at a major discount! Never had a bad thing out of one of these boxes. Please remember to go to the service desk so they can put the info into the system. Otherwise the app can't update and other shoppers don't know what's still available. I highly recommend 👌 ☺ 10/10
App is great, food is hit and miss. The app works great, wish you could link it to your PC stuff but whatever. The food is hit and miss, especially fruit and veggies I find. Bought a couple of fruit and veggie boxes where I got them home and threw half out right away, most other stuff has been pretty good though, either to cook right away, or freeze.
I love this app, great way to get fantastic deals on things I'd buy anyway or things I couldn't normally afford. Only 1 complaint, on deli meats the original price/kg isn't listed. 1/2 off what price per kg? Same with store packaged meat, the weight should be visible or written in description so I know what I'm buying. But all in all it's a great way to save money, I use it ALL THE TIME & have referred family too. EDIT: Watch the refunds, they take forever & often never show up at all.
We love flashfoods! Our local store has fantastic deals and the food is usually pretty fresh! This kind of buying has encouraged us to cook and eat different foods we normally don't eat! We make big fruit salads and cook veggies we don't usually buy. This app will not only help you save money, but it will help keep food from being wasted! 👍
Flash foods is fantastic, not only does it help with waste, the fruits and vegetables are always a great deal cheaper than I would normally pay. The product is never old/gross and can be eaten within a few days just like when normally buying your produce. Sometimes there's even surprise fruits and vegetables in the bottom of the box! The app is very easy to use and works like a charm every time.
A great concept BUT... app locked up during checkout, when I logged back in one item I had in my cart was no longer available when I redid the order. I'm not impressed. All the items were one ofs, so that item appears to have been grabbed out of my cart during check out. That should not happen.
Has to be one of the worst apps (if not the worst app) I have ever came across. It has a big map that doesn't move anywhere, and you can't really go anywhere. You.can select "help", but it isn't really helpful, as it's just a bunch of questions they want to answer. Not at all necessarily what YOU need..... In short, a waste of time.
Excellent! The ONLY reason it is 4 star is the picture quality, where a viewer cannot see the weight of the meat product for sale, to determine if a purchase goes forward. I have passed on multiple items because of this...
It cleared all data, including name, cc and loyalty cards. Also notifies me 'local store added several deals' and when i look there's one thing there. Latest update didn't improve it, on the contrary
I'm all about saving the world. This app feels just right for me. I also shop vintage whenever I can. It's just as affordable. Now I not only eat right but I can dress in silk, wool, cotton, leather, linen, cashmere... and stay away from plastics: vinyl, polyester, nylon, acetate... LOVE this app. It takes me to shops close by which is sooooo convenient. Thanks.
This app sucks. Every time I go in they're always missing the items. I mean every single time I've purchased something off of this app and gone to the store they don't have it. Sometimes I can pull it off the shelves other times like the other day I was told they don't have at all and I'll have to seek a refund by emailing the company. It's been over a week and they still haven't got back to me. It's just not worth the time I rather pay full price
Works pretty well. Occasionally I have some issues with the app not recognizing my GPS location if I don't have location turned on before starting the app. Otherwise, my only suggestion for improvement would be adding push notifications so you can see when new things are added to a favourite.
Very easy to use app. You do have to get your order within a day. Boxes go fast. Be aware that others might grab your box by mistake. There is a bit of an honor system involved. Edit: Stores need to have better systems for making sure people leave with their own purchases. I've had multiple (high value) boxes be taken before I picked them up. It's frustrating to drive to the store to find what you paid for, and we're excited to have scored taken. People make mistakes or some rude decisions.
