HOW IT WORKSMost aircraft are equipped with so called ADS-B transponders that transmit positional data. Flightradar24 has a rapidly growing network of several thousand ground stations around the world to receive this data that then shows up as aircraft moving on a map in the app. In an expanding number of regions Flightradar24, with the help of multilateration, is able to calculate the positions of aircraft that don’t have ADS-B transponders.
Traditional radar data is also used in the app thanks to a direct feed from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

I paid for this app, and now the functionality is being taken away from me. Those who purchased the original application should be grandfathered in to the features that existed. Very disappointed. Was an exceptional airplane tracker. I've seen the company statement that they can't support this and the new one. I understand, but am quite upset regardless.
I paid for this Flight Radar 24 some years ago full price no discounts and now they are shutting it down and demanding a monthly fee for an upgrade l don't like - hang on - l paid for this app and l am entitled to use it - shutting it down is a breach of contract! It worked perfectly - you will lose me to other options.
Like everyone else, was ripped off by them. All you have to do is just make a "new app" to be able to abandon your commitment to early adopters and try to get more money out of them. For anyone who wants what they paid for back, just search for "flightradar24 mod apk" and you'll never have to give these crooks a dime ever again.
What a rip off. Just discover that my early support for the full app is rewarded with NOTHING. Guys, you've just lost another customer. I'm not going to pay a subscription. I've paid my money. Please don't come back with bs on obsolete technology and free previous updates. The only reason you were successful was because of early buyers of the full app. Shame on you! Crickets from the developers. Scum!
As with the other recent reviews, I paid for the app to be ad free and now they are replacing the app in favour of a subscription model which leaves the old app high and dry. Would have been decent to transfer us over to new app for free or leave the old one functional even if unsupported. Pretty disreputable business practice, must be from the Sonos business playbook.
Buggy, even though I paid for the pro version. Cannot 'remember' flights to look them up repeatedly. Annoyed by the daily reminder to upgrade to an even more expensive subscription. So sad, because the concept is great but the execution terrible
Tried the new version and did not like it with all the ads and cannot afforf the annual fee. Did like the old paid version better. I tried the squawk function and now can't get it to stop even though I unchecked the box. I would like to have my old paid version back.
I paid for the pro version of this app. I used it 2 or 3 times a year . So probably less than a dozen in total. Then they retired the app and failed to migrate the licence. No way am i going to pay for a licence only to have it disabled whenever they feel like it
Paid for full version and now trying to sell me a monthly subscription. If people buy the pro version and then you decide to change it to a subscription model you should do the decent thing and allow the people who paid full price for the app to have access to the subscription model for free.
You say the app is old tech and will not work anymore. But it was working until you pushed a patch which stopped it working. I like many others paid for the app and if the platform it was on had stopped it from working that would be fair enough, bit you have done this just to fleece your customer base. Well you won't be getting anymore money from me and no matter how good the new app is its getting a bad review from me!
This was a fabulous app as a one off payment. Now sadly, it has gone monthly. I give it 4 stars for the old app. Enjoyed using it for a number of years. Yes I know there are many new features on the new app, bit do we really need them all and differing subscription packages!

Like most of the other reviews, so disappointing that a one off payment has a fixed term. Again as other reviews have mentioned, would the app be where it is if we hadn't paid for it? Poor response from the app people, just a standard reply to all reviews. I do not use it enough to justify monthly payments. It was fantastic, I recommended it to many, now will probably go to flight stats or some such. Such a shame.
Unacceptable to have bought the full app years ago and now you change it and i should subscribe for a monthly charge!? It would have been better to say ok now you will have an old version with less feature but if you wanna go to the new version there is a special discount!!
so I can't buy the upgrades that I want to, even though I've purchased this app! My ONLY other option is the new app but I have to subscribe! (ive paid for the old app but sick of all the ads and lack of detail in the new) daylight robbery when I've already paid for something that doesn't work!
I paid for the premium version, then these guys "break" the premium version so you HAVE to use the Ad supported version. Really cool of them to wait until I can no longer get a refund. Never give any of your money to Flightradar24 AB. They clearly have no sense of obligation to their customers.
This was one of the best apps I've ever purchased, the pro version was great, now sadly now gone, seemingly for pure greed. The developer must feel ashamed to see 95% of its former customers giving the lack of service a one star rating. Why didn't they offer a compromise of say £5 per year? Luckily there are now really good alternatives available for far less money.
Same here, paid for pro app and now have to pay again just because you changed the app instead of updating. I can understand that you do need to make money but should have give subscription back or leave all futures of pro app in free version of decided to change it. Never used it much probably less then 10 times in its life and it's gone now. Unusable very much not right. feel cheated big time.
I felt that I am being swindled since I paid for this app and yet it is not working and now has a FREE VERSION which has the function of a paid app before. A total rip off. They should've at least unlock some features for those who do paid their app before, to those who supported them for years before they could developed a free version. Anyway, to the developer of this app I hope you can sleep better at night thinking that you deceive us from the start!!
Bye bye dear friend. I bought you to remove adverts and gain a few additional features for the few times I used you. I'm afraid your new free service does not offer what I've already paid for and your silver service provides useless additional services that I'm not prepared to pay for. Maybe a bronze service that has a few more data points for the planes and flights and ad free would allow more of us castoffs to remain with you. And as for a 3 month trial, that's just an insult!
Charge you money, then change the rules. Suddenly told this app I PAID MONEY for would be non functional at end March. So I have to download another version plagued with ads that I'd have to pay to get rid of and the features I paid for now subscription based. They can shove it where the sun don't shine. Crooks.
I have been a PAID user for years and now have been told to pay for the shiny new version of the app...even though I have already purchased it!!!! RUDE MUCH. Needless to say I won't be paying again. This is a a money grab by the developers and there was no time limit on the old app. There are better apps out there.
I paid for an app and then discover it no longer works and that i have to pay again for a subscription app, Google should look into this fraudulent scam and refund everyone who paid for an app whereby its t&c which have changed to stop it from working and demand more money from people. At least you could have given everyone who paid a years free subscription, but no, nothing, nada....
Good app but dont like the fact that you are taking it away and replicating its exact functionality in another app and then shutting it down, I get why you are doing it but that is a very shady way to do business. The only way to do it properly is to refund ALL users and apologize for your bad judgement on one off pricing model which you now want to change. We bought this app with the knowledge it would be a one off fee, since you have changed that the right thing to do is refund people.
This was a great app till the developers decided to make a new one and charge a subscription for it. Giving a 3 month free subscription in lieu of having bought the old one just doesn't cut it. Will recommend that everyone install the new app and give it one star.
I purchased the 'old' version some time ago and was very pleased with the performance. Now when I tap on an aircraft no information box appears at the bottom of the screen. The only thing that happens is the line representing the flight path appears but if you want to see the end points of the line you have to minimise the image. Don't know what we've done to deserve this state of affairs but looks like a bunch of crooks now running the show. Amply echoed in reviews too numerous to count.
