this app just keeps freezing all over the place. I downloaded the app and opened it and it froze on the start now page. I went did something else and came back and was able to start now and then it froze on the login page. then I went away and tried after some time and came back and was able to get to the free song section. clicked on a free song, clicked on beginner and it froze again. On my S7 tablet.
Flowkey is a good app to support in-person piano lessons. I would not replace in-person lessons with this app. Things I would like to see in Flowkey: 1. Bluetooth Midi. Having to use USB is inconvenient especially given Android supports Bluetooth Midi. 2. Landscape display app-wide. Only the music sheet and videos are landscape, I have to lift my phone up in portrait every time I want to navigate to a course/song.
Useful but infuriating. I have a lifetime membership. Helps in sight-reading. No doubt. App itself never works with both left and right hand selected. Harms timing work because is buggy, misses notes, is slow to react or doesn't recognise notes at all. Probably the mostly useless Fingers video causing slowdown. Use Numbers! Selection of songs not that good. I have a direct connected Midi. Most Advanced Songs cannot be played at tempo using highlighted hands.
Warning: do not subscribe until you have tried it. I was so excited to try this app, I bought a new tablet solely for this purpose. While I was impressed with the song library, unfortunately none of the lessons will load. Tried force closing, restarting device and reinstalling with no luck. If anyone can recommend a good learner app with classical music, please share
Really enjoying learning with Flowkey. I have a digital piano and have my tablet linked via USB. The app works perfectly. I've been working through the lessons and I'm really thrilled with my progress. I've been learning nearly 3 months and I've completed the intermediate piano playing lessons and have scales, chords and improvisation to work through. Some apps look like video games but this is proper teaching with the benefit of a huge amount of songs to play.
Before buying i thought to give a try to free lessons but there is a big fault in those lessons, the note which is highlighted is totally different as compared to the player playing the piano. The video is not superimposed to the highlighted notes. Please fix this as it's not making sense and instead of learning the piece i totally got confused.
This app has given me a start to piano but that's it. The app is just straight up broken. I get so mad when I am playing a song, and the app just doesn't move on even though I already clicked the note, it makes me redo it, and when I redo it I just keep hitting the same problem over and over again, and this app just isn't reliable anymore. I wanted to contact a help line, but there is no way to get help. Please help me or give me a refund
I am a beginner piano player. I like this app, it has a nice format and I can access on my phone AND computer. I wish it was easier to access the songs taught in the lessons, you have to push so many buttons to get back to the part where you can practice the song at the end. It would be great to control the lessons the way you can control the regular song list (looping/choosing which hand to practice/etc). Wish there were more very basic songs as the beginner songs are still way over my head.
Easy to use and I am hearing progress. I appreciate the unlimited attempts at getting it right. I wish I could print out the sheet music sheet music so that I could practice while not on the app. Other than that, I am enjoying my lessons.
I bought the app and i think the lessons on how to play are really good. However unless you wakeup one morning with cord knoledge and how to use your ab and high c the songs in this app are to difficult and you may enjoy yousican, or piano academy. As they seem to understand a begginer is someone with no previous knowledge.
UPDATE: latest version 2.35.0 works well. It's not picking up notes consistently. I use a MIDI cable. The microphone signal is weak. The app has no input volume control. Won't extend subscription for sure, practice is a pain.
Mic doesn't always work, so I have to exit mid lesson. It doesn't always pick up the sound, so it throws off your rythm when practicing. The hand will go backwards during the play along, which makes it hard to concentrate.
Super awesome interface for slow hands like mine, im reading sheet music 🎼, never thought that was possible. The app support fixed a small glitch and now im completing lessons. Im going to subscribe for sure.
Enjoying a lot so far. Very easy to use and great arrangements. I don't see as a beginner's app, I have experience playing the piano so this app is being extremely helpful because I just want to learn my favourite songs as soon as possible. Is also very handy to have your sheets in the go,in case you ever encounter a situation where you can play for some people and haven't memorised a specific song. ONLY COMPLAINT - I wish I could disable the video of the performance and focus only on the sheet
I love this app. I just renewed my second year and it is 100% worth it. It allows me to explore various songs at increasingly difficult skill levels. I find the wait mode very useful as it allows me to follow along and only give me credit when I hit the right note. As with most things, persistence is key. If you manage to stay strong and keep playing a song, you will get better. I find that over the past year on flowkey, my memory has become better and I am enjoying piano even more.
Just good. Some times the microphone does hear the key that I pressed so I have to press it again. That interrupts my playing. Lack the option of 'playing the whole song together': machine and student. Furthermore, there is not access to the pentagram to practice by myself. I know that on internet I can find it but is different to the ones in this app.
I want to love the app, and I hope that it can earn 5 stars from me eventually. I have it on my phone and tablet. On my tablet it has a hard time detecting d notes. On my phone it picks up d's just fine but it doesn't register c's very well. I've tried a few other piano apps and didn't have any issues with them. My keyboard doesn't support midi so that isn't an option for me. Also, this didn't happen when I was trying the free version, it started after I subscribed.
App is good but it crashes all the time has to be reloaded, video doesn't really play kind of annoying for how much you're paying a month for it. When it works it works but most the time it's not that reliable. What also love the ability to remove the video with the hands playing and just see the sheet music.
Just been learning for a month and so far so good. A very intuitive course, which is helping me to read music and learn to play an instrument with independent hands. It does buffer a bit and I need to contact Flowkey as I can't see all the songs on my android tablet. You need to be motivated to learn online and if you are, this is a bargain!
There is some sort of glitch where the keys are fingers don't line up and it skips around the song and it has nothing to do with the note detection as my piano is played as midi it wasn't always like this some bug after an update and still hasn't been fixed
I love the app! It is amazing if you want to learn you get 7 day free trial and after that you can still play so mant cool free songs! I still have like 15 free songs. Even the songs you pay for are so cheap they range from £4 and above depending on the song. I am currently learning Bella Ciao and already learned 2 songs in 3 weeks. The only downside is even for the free songs you have to pay for harder difficulties but other than that, the app is the best for people who want to learn piano. i ♡
Very disappointing, got a free trial, tried the courses but it was just frustrating to use. The courses aren't very good for learning sight reading. Midi connection and I have to press the last note in each section twice for it to be recognized. Tried changing my playing, no difference. Every other note.. No prob. Bigger problem was the lag between the playing and scrolling in the screen. It's jerky and out of sync. Same on laptop. Stopped using it after a week and won't come back.
It's a pretty good app. It has trouble hearing what keys I'm pressing sometimes which is rather annoying. I'll be in the middle of playing something and I look down and realize it's stuck all the way at the beginning. But there are some songs I've always wanted to learn and it does a pretty good job teaching you. Overall a decent app. I like how you can break it down section by section hand for hand.
It's ability to pick up notes can be frustrating, multiple times you hit a note and even double check it's correct and yet it won't let you move on.
I've just started, first day in fact, and my only complaint is the pop up box asking for this review after every single lesson. There's no control to not see again amd later only brings it back after the next lesson so this is what you get. As far as interface and user control, the lessons seem to be broken up well and of course you can always go back to strengthen ant particular skill. It seems easy enough to navigate, but take that with a grain of salt as this is my first day using this app.
Initially had difficulty obtaining the flowkey code. App loaded easily but had been problematic in the beginning, failed to continue through progress in tutoring courses. Had to reinstall and clear app cache a few times before success with Android. Seems good now though. But was very irritating at the beginning due to app flaws.
Accidentally purchased the year plan. The support system is lovely. They immediately gave me a full refund and were kind and understanding. Never had help be so quick and easy. Also, a great app for beginner and intermediate students to learn iconic songs with full sheet music and hand placement explanations
It gets confused. It also confuses me! I stopped using this app after 15mins. As a beginner I think they've tried to make a good app but it fails on a few critical shortcomings. 1)The app gets stuck. I play and it thinks e is a d. The bar also does not move. 2) You end up guessing the next note. That's not how you learn. 3) Hey, I'm a beginner. I can't read music. Why show the music at the bottom. Useless for me. I'm ending the trial period after 15mins. Sorry.
