Flux

Flux is an ever-changing digital sound sculpture. Draw a simple gesture that will define the overall shape and structure of the evolving composition. The gesture is analyzed by the system, and certain parameters define length, movements and mood of the audiovisual composition. Every element is calculated on the fly, based on your initial gesture and some simple algorithms.
The sound synthesis is structured as a flux of material, similar to a waterfall: the initial white noise serves as the source for all sounds. It is then filtered through several layers, flowing and traveling through filtered paths and probabilities to reach their destination through the speakers.

The result is an ever-changing, sculpted constellation of these tiny filter fragments. The visual field is mapped to the sonic structure: filter values, probability intervals and logical decisions are controlling the minimal, pulsating environment thus creating a contemplative, synesthetic experience.

Please use headphones or external speakers for full experience.

I love this app, everyone sees it differently, to me is patterns that move in any way no matter the shape, in other words it represents my system in life and it shows me that no matter the obstacles the is always a way to keep moving foward, this really is a great app, I wish it had colors to chose from, but 5 stars and 2 thumbs up.

If you like apps that draw you into the atmospheric void and watching things move, this is a great app. Just a disclaimer that the sculptures don't end up like the line you drew. That line is actually you traveling in the direction that you drew it. Just enjoy the void while the world is in chaos. That is all.

If I had more time, I could play with it for hours. Love everything about it, highly recommended.

Interesting. Draw a thing and it becomes music.

Alot of the time I'm confused, at school the colours don't always make sense to me, but I just go on this app and it calms my brain down and relaxes me. I think that when you have synesthesia it's good to be able to explore and see and touch sound in a way that everyone else can see. I especially like it when you are watching the sculpture and you zoom in and climb into the sound cloud, so that you are surrounded by sound. It's beautiful.

The way it works makes it sound like a classic soundscape machine for awesome soundscapes. People that master how it works can create incredibly complex and wonderful creative soundscapes which please the ear and reach the mind. If it could export to WAV, I would be able to mix it into my music and make wonderful, beautiful, complex pieces with it as backing. Even without that, the technology behind FLUX is incredible, 5/5

App no longer supported? Amazing sounds that can be really immersive, but then every 60-70 seconds there's a blip as everything resets? Sounds can easily be recorded using external apps, but no way to save drawings/compositions. Would gladly pay to remove blips and save options; also have the mixer with sliders for each progressive channel.

I'm terible at music.. I can't figure out what adjustments to make in the drawing and how they affect the sound.... And after figuring all that out I'd like to edit my drawing, cut and paste sections, add 3 or 4 lines to one piece as my own layers..

I haven't even finished this download and I never rate, but I'm giving you 5 stars because you're the first app I've ever seen that doesn't try to pull my contact info, Facebook password, and shower schedule. I've never understood why so many apps "need" permission to access all personal info on my phone. I appreciate that you don't.

Really really loved the idea, the user experience, etc. Neat. Very. -Used it on both a Nexus 4 and a Nexus 7 - N4 froze when I wanted to switch between tasks. -It would be great if the freehand drawing wouldn't stop after the first time you raise your finger -rendering to WAV would be amazing! But even with these limitations, it's still and definitely 5/5.

Very cool, but the view of the generated form could better illustrate its connection to the original drawing , also the ability to filter that white noise into something a bit more atmospheric would be nice

The approach is certainly very innovative and the results are great. wish there was a way to record not only the gestures, as a simple own app file, but also the rendered sound as wav. keep up the great work!

I want to see a new menu design with a more easy to use interface and smoother framerates. The laggy framerates kills the experience.

Easy and intuitive app, love the experience and only wish it were possible to save favorites and replay or export/share with others.

The user interface needs work, but the sound generation is brilliant, if only I could choose 'instruments' this would be exactly what I was looking for.

Still a bit difficult to comprehend. Though this is amazing. There's something oh so eerie about it. Hauntingly beautiful both visually and tonally.

This is pretty kool , I'm trying to brake down the tiles and makes shapes like animals.

Great app. Export audio/video option, hide timeline, scroll across timeline, continue sound in background while switching to other apps would make it five stars!

It says to draw something but your drawing really has no point. . As soon as you lift your finger from the screen it jumps to some pre made animation. .. I don't see the purpose of this app.. The graphics are cool but I really don't understand this app....

I like ambient noise, and this thing is amazing for it!

Bar. B. Aug 28, 2016

I personally find this to be a creative, unique instrument that will produce what I would refer to as ambient "music". I have to commend the developer for a unique idea, implemented into a ultra simple user interface, and accompanied by an interesting screen display.

What a beautiful concept, original, aesthetic and relaxing. A very interesting approach to the synergy of motion and sound.

The Point of View keeps changing on it's own, would've rated 5 stars otherwise

Pretty, soothing, atmospheric space music. You can touch the screen to make the animation change.

Not being an artist, I just enjoyed playing with this. Also, does not require ANY permissions.
