FLY is FUN is a moving map for aviation and pilots providing ILS and GPS approach, VOR, NDB, DME, Marker beacons, RNAV navigation and Marker beacons warnings, without ILS/VOR/NDB/RNAV equipment on board.
“FLY is FUN” is a complete application, without any restriction, if used with “FLY is FUN Unlocker”.Without “FLY is FUN Unlocker”, all functionalities are accessible for evaluation. This allows news user discovering them, but each 10 minutes, application need to be restarted.
FLY is FUN allows:
- Displaying route, bearing, trace on moving map;
- Visualizing airspace;
- Creating and modifying routes with “drag and drop”, "rubber band" , or with the database;
- Importing, exporting routes, waypoints, RWY (Garmin .gpx, .kml, txt);
- Performing route planning, evaluating distance, time and fuel consumption (depending on wind and aircraft characteristics);
- Recording the flight and playing it back with Google Earth;
- Calculating Sunset / Sunrise;
- Getting weather forecast along the route;
- Getting warnings, alarms and message before entering controlled or special use airspaces, approaching waypoints or specific points;
- Creating or importing airspace (Google Earth or Open air files);
- Getting dynamic terrain map (colors depending of elevation above ground level),
- Displaying more than 80 values

All main screens (4 portrait and 4 landscape screens) could easily be customized. Pilot can choose information he wish to get in each button:
- Altitude GPS or barometric, over see, over ground, correction;
- Ground speed;
- Bearing;
- Vertical speed;
- Distance to point , distance to destination;
- Estimated time to next point, estimated time to destination;
- Time since departure;
- Stop watch;
- DME, ACC, GS, ALT, TRK, BRG, AGL, ELE, CAL, VAR, UTC, LOG, HDG, CRS, ETA, ET, ETE, LT, MGS, GAL, SR, SS, XTK, PRE, QNH, VSI, RRD, SW1, SW2, RRD, DTA, DAL;…
Information displayed could be customized too depending of users preferences (VFR, IFR, IFR and VFR) and of zoom level. The more you zoom IN, the more detail, information, waypoints,.. you see
LogbookThe integrated logbook, allows recording:
- Duration since departure time
- Departure and arrival time
- Departure and arrival airport
- Flight track (it is possible to export it as .kml or .gpx and to replay it)
- Used aircraft
- Pilot(s) and copilots in charge
- Distance, average speed, maximum speed…ChartsPilots could select the most appropriate charts: free open source charts as well as commercial charts as ICAO, Cartabossy, SkyVector… even FAA sectional and terminal charts…Free charts could be imported directly via the application store. Other charts could be created and imported by the pilot itself or made on request available as commercial service.
VACs and PDF filesUser can easily attached PDF files to airport or ULM fields, and consult them during the fly.
Usage of external GPS connected via Bluetooth is possible
The free World navigation and airspace database is updated following AIRAC cycle.

With open source maps, load-your-own ERSA & not CASA certified, it used to be a cheap & cheerful VFR companion. But with each update (all support to EU & USA) it becomes ever more troublesome. For downunder, add all the wierd terminology to mesmerizing and ballooning array of controls, I'm sad to say it is fast becoming a liability in the cockpit.
used it for years when my tablet crashed it wants an annual subscription to re install,half way throught a flying week,bit of a trick ,tried the forum but there is something about a A\C picture ,that is not there,very sad to be asked to pay again, it was good. shame full ..Peter.. ,not getting what i paid for years ago,and recomended to friends.Bit of a scam now!!! would have thought a legacy supription,or at least notification of impending change, i would like to see Peters view on this issue
Really disappointing, bought and paid for lifetime license only to turn to subscription model. Really bad business practice and surely against the original agreement. Understand retirement to change but should be for new users coming to the app for the first time. I've recommended this app lots and now feel embarrassed for doing so.

I have bought the app FiF 15.0 with the LIFETIME licence. I understand your monetary policy change, but it should be for NEW customers only. It is highly unprofessional, I believe even against customer protection regulations, to sell the product with lifetime licence and cancel that afterwards. As pilot I have used app for flying regularly, but now I find it highly unreliable as I'm not able to update new database. I am very disappointed with your business politics, I could find cracked version when I at first downloaded it, but I've decided to buy and support your development. Even if I buy yearly licence, how I could be sure that you will not change again your monetary policy to monthly or daily payment for licence? This is not way how to do business.
Paid for a licence and it is now asking me for a subscription payment. - explanation was acceptable, however, in normal circumstances, a license would not be revoked in this manner. I suggest adding additional features and selling new licenses. Customers who bought licenses bootstrapped your business providing the capital to grow. More importantly, however, is the loss of trust from customers which is precious currency.
Great app. Very simple to use. I've been using it for two years around New York City air spaces and LaGuardia and JFK. Works great, highly intuitive.
Hello,make it for lower fee,for inactive pilots, to have it if need it,and from sentimental reasons.Just without update AIRAC cycles. You want 23gbp per year.Do it as 2-3 gbp for one AIRAC cycle,30 days.To update only when truly need to,when pay those 2-3gbp. If not owning a plane actually :) And if would be possible,whole world in few files,SD cards are biig.But few files to be download quick.Missing Canarias .PDF approach charts,make it for whole world.Add abandoned airfields for emerg.landing
A total disrespect for all who already had bought the lifetime licence. Opposed to what i did in the past by recommending this app, now i only have the option to disrecommend this APP. What a lack of character... Pretty sad...
I have paid for the unlocker but it is gone now due to sales policy change and all I have available now is a Trial version. I won't support this any more. I may understand the change but leaving the first customers behind is not fair.
So I eventually got a trial activated but I can't save my aircraft. It says decent vertical rate must be negative, then when I make it negative it says no engine vertical speed can be negative? What am I missing?

I have bought the app FIF, but I can't dowload the "navigation database" on my Galaxi Note 9. Wy? I have tried several times.
Does not open at all on 3 phones. Just doesn't work.

Well I bought a lifetime licence. As far as I can judge I am still alive, unlike my licence. Am I wrong to feel cheated? At least a refund should be given to those who trusted this developer and paid in good faith. Any recent changes in policy should leave existing contractual agreements intact. Whatever, this is a money grab, and I am an unhappy ex customer, like many others who have also been robbed. No excuse for this Petr.

Always went wrong self~exiting on me
Unlocker lost after factory reset and reinstall. Only trial possible. Unfortunately there are better apps and devices with subcription, including dedicated ones. Flyisfun is good as moving map and has options to import different maps, but it is too complex and not intuitive with menus and options. I reccomend to allow active unlocker, without database, for old users, so they can use it as a moving map. It would be fair option for the price they paid.
Very complete aviation navigation app. Use it all the time for international navigation, flying Helicopters. The only gripe I would have that, at times it's a bit counter intuitive and requires frequent revision of the manual - but that's probably a result of it's completeness.
